If you take an old Beamer out and hammer on it the cooling system will fail damn near every time. This Rally test wasn't "gone wrong" at all, it was magnificent and very well performed. You just need to do a complete refresh on the cooling system ~$500 and you're ready to tear up tracks!

@@luckyhack78 Yeah, honestly it's a lucky failure. From the looks of it the plastic fitting the pipe was attached to broke, so replacing parts like that with metal would definitely be the right move
After having owned a couple of manual M5x BMWs my very first thought for what might have gone wrong was cooling, these engines are bullet proof and can take an absolute hammering but when stuff does go wrong the very old plastic cooling components are the fault 90% of the time. That was some awesome driving though, I used to take my first car which was an E36 325i coupe on dirt roads and hoon around every now and then but I never pushed it as hard as this guy did, I didn't really have much confidence in my rally driving skill and I gave up when I learned that coarse gravel was the cause of my hilariously short tyre life haha

Yeah lol my e39 blew a hose the first time I was really hard on it…
I hat the same issue on my 330ci and all I had to Replace was the Water pump, thermostat and the surge tank abought 100€ and it was good to go
500? U have good coolant for 20€ and u only have to change the expansion tank or tie the hose (50€)
BMW’s from the 90s to the early 2000s are some of the best/most reliable track/race cars. They just need maintenance. Especially the cooling system!
Very true the M50 family of engines need the cooling to be in shape because this is its main drawback
Once you fix this look at some weight reduction. Should help counterbalance against your steel nuts.
