    Pablo Neruda is considered one of the most important Latin American poets of the 20th century. His work continues to be widely read and studied today, inspiring new generations of poets and readers.
    Neruda's poetry is characterized by its passionate and sensual language, its commitment to political and social issues, and its celebration of #love, nature, and everyday life. His poems frequently explore themes such as longing, desire, loss, and the search for meaning and identity in a constantly changing world.
    Writing during a period of upheaval and significant change in Latin America, Neruda’s work was part of a broader literary movement known as the avant-garde, which sought to break with traditional artistic conventions and explore new forms of expression. His poetry was influenced by European modernists such as Federico García Lorca and Walt Whitman, as well as by the rich history and culture of his native country, Chile.
    Neruda's influence can be seen in the work of many contemporary poets, especially those who write in Spanish. His legacy lies not only in his beautiful and evocative #poetry but also in his unwavering commitment to social justice and his belief in the transformative power of art.
    #Poem "Keeping Quiet" [Pablo Neruda]
    Now we will count to twelve
    and we will all keep still
    for once on the face of the earth,
    let’s not speak in any language;
    let’s stop for a second,
    and not move our arms so much.
    It would be an exotic moment
    without rush, without engines;
    we would all be together
    in a sudden strangeness.
    Fishermen in the cold sea
    would not harm whales
    and the man gathering salt
    would not look at his hurt hands.
    Those who prepare green wars,
    wars with gas, wars with fire,
    victories with no survivors,
    would put on clean clothes
    and walk about with their brothers
    in the shade, doing nothing.
    What I want should not be confused
    with total inactivity.
    Life is what it is about;
    I want no truck with death.
    If we were not so single-minded
    about keeping our lives moving,
    and for once could do nothing,
    perhaps a huge silence
    might interrupt this sadness
    of never understanding ourselves
    and of threatening ourselves with death.
    Perhaps the earth can teach us
    as when everything seems dead
    and later proves to be alive.
    Now I’ll count up to twelve
    and you keep quiet and I will go.

    E sigo calado contemplando esse silêncio que não sei se entra pelos meus olhos ou emerge da minha alma, prossigo quieto cuidando do silêncio dessa plenitude em mim, procurando encontrar e me completar nas outras partes desse amor. Tambem encontrei a morte e ela me perguntou apressada onde teria um jardim para ela descansar e refletir a respeito da vida.
