I don't think that the snes system is too limited to be honest. There's more than a hundred SNES games which soundtracks are awesome... Just to name a few, Actraiser, Contra 3, Yoshi's Island, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country 2/3... Etc.

I mean, games today can cost as much as a Hollywood movie to create they dump so much money in to them. This game had a fraction of the budget and fraction of the staff they have today and yet this game is still golden. Hell, just the music alone shows how much love was put into this project. So much limited sound compared to what they can use today and this track is fucking frawless.
As difficult as this level is (for me, anyway), its music is no-joke one of the best themes I have ever heard for a video game level. It's just full of such heroic energy that inspires you to keep going, really suiting the vibe as you quite literally climb your way to the top of the Steel Mill.
Just imagine, I had a NES playing Super C, my dad shows up with a new SNES, Super mario World & Contra 3, me as a 10 yr old, could not believe the action, the music, the graphics 🥲

Loved how military and bittersweet sounding the tunes sounded in this game. Very urgent yet saddening the world has come to such a horrific state. The ending theme was amazing too.
Man the 90's....when game developers used their imagination and wowed everyone,not just kids! They also made the best endings with the best music! Remember the ending to super Mario land on the old game boy? That too was epic....now we got ME3....
When you're finally starting to bring the battle back to the aliens :) I love this track, the depth it has, it tries to make sure you won't forget why you're fighting, and who you're fighting against.

I enjoyed this soundtrack 2022 and im listening to this golden erra, game was fantastic, watched a friend whom passed away from heroin beat this game on hard level without dying was epic, just wished I could of saved him from his pain, we just need more love than trying to be a super hero for everyone.

I think that was pretty much the original concept behind the series as a whole. Hell, just look at NES Contra's boxart!
