Hi everyone^___^ Have you watched the new The Little Mermaid 2023 movie yet? It's so good^^ and I immediately wanted to see how Melody would look in live action, a mix of Ariel and Eric's features and the old little mermaid 2 cartoon design :)
It has been so so long since I edited Disney live action movies, so it was nice getting back to it. Like many people, my genuine little mermaid trailer reaction was scepticism, but I gave the Little mermaid movie a chance in cinema and ended up LOVING Halle Bailey as Ariel! Her voice is divine , especially in Part of Your World and the chance in her looks actually makes sense, as it is very obvious Atlantica is based in the Caribbean Sea in the Under the Sea song. I would have loved Sebastian to look a bit more like himself, but at least his voice actor daveed diggs did an awesome job! :)
Oops this has turned into a bit of a movie review lol. Anyways, I tell more about my opinion in the video.
I will always prefer traditional animation, but it was lots of fun to see more sides of Ariel and Prince Eric and I hope I did their daugther Melody justice in this speedpaint^___^
Please let me know what you think in the comments! Both about the movie, the edit and which scene was your favourite? I quite liked Kiss the Girl and the whole time Ariel spent in Ursula's cave :)
I edited Melody as a mermaid in this The Little mermaid scene, because I imagine this takes place after the ending of Return to the sea, when Triton helps Ariel and Melody change into mermaids^___^ I used posters and the little mermaid trailer to use as bases for Ariel and Eric.
I really hope the Walt disney company creates either a sequel with their version of Melody to the The Little mermaid 2023 movie or even better - a prequel about Ursula and Triton's past, because I need to know more about those two!
Anyway, I will take any The Little Mermaid film they give us :D

Your edit of what the live-action Melody would look like was definitely the way I imagined it. It didn't matter what type of person played Ariel. I mean, she was originally going to be a blonde, but then she got made into a redhead instead. So the live-action Ariel could have been just as good as the original animated one whether she was played by a blonde or a redhead or a person-of-color.

The Little Mermaid(2023) was so good. Here are my thoughts
Starting off with the performances. Melissa McCarthy killed it as Ursula. She is truly born for this moment. If I’m being real, I hated the original 1989 film, and I’ll tell you why in a couple of seconds. Jonah Hauer-King’s song was so good. It wasn’t my favourite part though, as I will also tell you my favourite parts after. After comparing the remake to the original, we can all agree the live action one was better, as it had more meaning. In the original version, Eric just stands there shocked when she turns back into a mermaid. However, in the remake, Eric(Jonah Hauer-King) holds Ariel(Halle Bailey) closely. Now, these are my favourite parts from the film.
1. When Ariel(Halle Bailey) was riding on an octopus in the “Under the Sea” music video
2. When Ariel(Halle Bailey)comes out of the cave slide to see all the creatures dancing
3. The “Part of Your World” reprise
For the “Part of Your World” reprise scene, I was actually impressed as Ariel(Halle Bailey) sang it high, while Ariel(Jodi Benson) sang low. I feel that it’s so disrespectful.
Also, love the CGI tentacles for Ursula(Melissa McCarthy). I was in love with it because of all the scenes where she shows them off(or smt like that). I feel that Halle Bailey was born to be Ariel.
Also, I would love to see Tangled(2010) but as a remake. Here’s my overall fan cast

3. Ian Boggs (Eugene)
4. Kathryn Hahn(Mother Gothel)

I absolutely Love The Little Mermaid (2023) as much as Your Edit. Thank You for sharing both the edit and Your opinions, story of Denmark and background of The Original Little Mermaid.
I love it! I saw the movie twice in the theater, and I enjoyed it very much. It still doesn't top the animation, but it's among the better remakes from Disney.
I agree 😊 the animation will always be best. So far, it's my favourite remake Disney has created. Looking forward to Lilo and Stitch live action 😊
For me it does tops the animation. Everything makes more sense to me on the Live version. I like the animated too, but the Ariel and Eric's romance is stronger for me. And I also like that fact they didn't marry at the end like on the animated. I mean how realistic it is to meet a guy (being 16) and marrying him after 3 days. Very unrealistic. But is it a cartoon.

Angelica is adorable and a great actress :) but she wouldn't fit the live action Melody, as Angelica is Filipino and Melody is Caribbean - half black and half white.

Excuse me, you could do Tritannus, he's a triton (a villain of the series 5 of the Winx, don't do it in monster version though, ah! as a magic object he has the trident) together with a mermaid Perla, a character of my invention, she has light skin, brown eyes, as well as pink lips, hair. The bodice is light pink with marine fantasies: (shells and fishes) while the tail is light blue, together with the daughters, the eldest has the skin of the mother and eyes and hair of the father, while the youngest is the opposite. For the colours and details of the bodices and tails I leave you carte blanche.

My guess was Germany. I have a friend there, and your accent isn’t that different from hers. Of course, she lives right underneath the Germany-Denmark border, and even speaks Danish as a second language, so that’s probably what messed me up.
Anyway, great edit, Alice. The central character really does look like a perfect cross between Ariel’s daughter from the direct-to-video sequel of way back when and the live-action Ariel of the current day and age.
