Just because the person chosen was a woman doesn't mean that they were less qualified than any of the other candidates. There is rarely a case where there is just one -- and only one -- person who can excel in the top spot at any given career.

He was slow and indecisive in dealing with the COVID-19 threat. Is he a good human being? Surely he has his good points. But he is also a bit of a snake. He doesn't answer questions straight. You can't attack him for a tanking economy like his predecessors because the economy is booming. You can't attack him for going on apology tours for the United States like his predecessors because all he does when he goes abroad is fight for us. You can't attack him for raising taxes like Obama did and Hillary would have done because he lowered them. You can't attack him for being soft on national defense and at our borders like his predecessors because we all know how he is with those. You can't attack him for being corrupt and rigging an election because he won DESPITE the election being rigged against him. You can't attack him for not being available to the press because he speaks with the press every single day. And speaking of the press, you can't attack him for not being patient because there is nobody alive with his amount of patience. Not a single one of us would be able to handle all the shit he has to deal with. You can't attack him for any of the actual important things that affect our daily lives because when it comes to those issues, he's doing a superb job. So if all people can attack him on is his personality, I'd say that's a win for him and all of us too. And as far as working for us, he's just barely gotten started.
Side note: The reason Trump was elected in the first place was a message to the political and media establishments that we see right through their bullshit and lies, we aren't buying their bullshit and lies, and we won't put up with them anymore. It was a loud and clear message for them but they just don't get it still because they're not just continuing with the same behavior, they're doubling down. They are the epitome of stupid and will not be successful.

Kris Revard I actually respect and appreciate your comment. I am a US citizen and while I am not well versed on Canada’s political climate I offer you this food for thought. Everyone in the world is operating through their own lens aka perspective. The political climate in my country is extremely toxic and divisive and I acknowledge that is a result of the rhetoric from both sides of the isle. My lens is through that of an African American woman witnessing the gross mistreatment and injustice of people of color and women. I would argue that Trudeau’s values and leadership as expressed in this interview is what we need in this country. Change is only driven forward by change makers and change does not occur without the conscious intent behind the action to move it forward. It is not easy, there will be resistance, but if this is supposed the country with opportunity for all that means leveling the playing and challenging systems that reinforce prejudice, corruption, and the disenfranchisement of certain groups. Also I would never accuse you of being some right winger. I think the answer of all of the political chaos going on will be found somewhere in the middle of the isle.

I haven't regularly voted Liberal, but I've been very happy with Justin. Very happy does not mean I don't have major disagreements with some of his choices, but it means he's done quite a few things right and for the better. And there is no way I would trust our precarious future to any Conservative government. Harper was a disaster and Doug Ford exudes con artist and bully. Paying taxes is not the problem of the masses, the problem of the masses is believing that rich white male conservatives care about anyone else but other rich white male conservatives. If some other folks pick up jobs too great, but they don't really care about you, your health, your education, the environment or your future.

I ain't happy. Jihadi Justin does not give a flying fk about Canadians. $215,000 on a Bahamas vacation and $1.5 Million spent making a fool of himself in India. $20 Million given away to the Clinton foundation. $4.5 Billion on Trans Mountain which has been a disaster with nothing to show for so far. $80 Million a year bonuses for contractors who did a piss poor job constructing highways. $416,000 on renovations on a 2 yr old office building which included spending $5,000 on 56 coat hooks. $24,000 on 86 seat cushions. $50,000 each for Syrian refugee families which they actively try to cover up, and hundreds of thousands more spent housing illegal refugees in hotels. Hundreds of millions spent annually to support the operation of abortion clinics in Africa. Millions more to be given away to secure a seat on the UN Security Council. The auditor general actually has asked the Liberals to stop lying in their books. He has associated with people with known connections to terrorism. He gives away money to terrorists out of the fund that supports veterans. He supports a bill that passes that suppresses freedom of speech and was authored by someone who has connections to the Muslim Brotherhood which has terrorist connections. He allows illegal migration and has no concrete long term plan to deal with the influx of refugees. And it goes on and on. This guy is a total moron and traitor. The worst prime minister in Canada's history.

That moment when you realize the Canadian government is basically saying “we need more token women and token Muslims in government so we can be as corrupt as possible and then call you racist and sexist if you don’t like us.”
Seriously diversity of thought is a strength. But just picking people based on gender and skin color but not whether they are qualified or not is not a strength. It’s very clearly a weakness. And it’s tokenism.
The people will vote for a female president when one who deserves to win runs. The idea that we should be voting for women just cause they don’t have a penis is asinine, childish, and ironically, SEXIST.

I am a liberal, too bad Canada is turning into the US, in Ontario the Conservative Party got elected for provincial government. I hate to say this but there is a renaissance of conservatism in Canadian politics. A lot of fellow Canadians are unhappy with Trudeau (I do not know why to be honest). A lot of newcomers who are anti sex ed, anti lgbtq+ and and anti progressive ideas are super conservative and are to be blamed if Canada follows the path of US in terms of economy and politics. They voted for Trump's twin brother Mr. Doug Ford here in Ontario, this sucks.

Liberals took the number 1 economic powerhouse and put it in last place (fact) with a debt that your children's children's children won't be able to pay off. Do you understand that? You have f#cked Ontario beyond help. I doubt highly that Ford will be able to salvage it, but I doubt he could do worse if he tried. You invite with open arms an ideology that is so completely incompatible with women's rights and gays/trans basic rights, and you are, what, angry at conservatives that want to be responsible for their own children's sexual education or what the schools are filling their heads with. People see through the political manipulation/hypocrisy of so called progressive ideas, that's why they loath Trudeau.

As a Canadian I thought Justin was very diplomatic and articulate in getting the message of Canadians feeling about democracy out to the world leaders. Trudeau has grown into his job as Prime Minister, he will still make mistakes and won’t be able to please all the people but he is making great strides. We have to stand behind these young men and give them support as they deal with the new problems of a world moving forward at such a fast pace. It is time to let the younger generation take the lead with the support and wisdom of the older generation. Proud of you Justin, keep moving our country forward to better things.

Yep, another feminist who's 'proud of Justin'. What has he done that's even remotely POSITIVE when it comes to national interest or defense? What has he done in terms of getting the nation out of terrible debt? What has he done for the MAJORITY of Canadians, when he seems ENTIRELY focused on the minority, Islamic, and LGTBQ agendas that are brainwashing Canadian children without parental consent? What has he done for CANADA, when he seems so focused on the refugees from OTHER nations? How does Canada economically support our 'not-so-free failing health care' AND the flood of immigrants that don't work, and love our free Welfare cheques? How is it fair and ethical that potential employers are ALLOWED to discriminate against a white males by LAW based on their skin colour alone (Equity Employment Act)? You really proud of having opportunity for people who only want the free paycheque and contribute NOTHING but higher crime to Canada because they were not properly vetted?

Nancy Wakling Except that everything he has done is a mistake. Tariffs on consumer goods from America - mistake.
Virtue signalling ruining free trade agreement with China -mistake.
India trade deal, stealing 2 billion from the Canada Pension Plan and giving it as a gift to India for 1-4 ratio trade deal.
Virtue signalling losing 50 billion in deals with Saudi Arabia.
Raising minimum wage to the bottom of a new tax bracket, so more money in government's pockets than those on said wage.
Bombardier bailout of $2 billion to save 10,600 employees only to have 5,000 of them laid off 2 years later, while they move jobs overseas.
$6.4 billion for a dead pipeline that will never be finished, and would have been done by private corporation.
Immigration policy that greatly favours Muslims over Asians, or Latinos for no reason.
Calling for illegals into the country, giving them free money, and shoving them in tax paid hotels with no solution of what to do with them.
Paying millions to confirmed terrorist murderers.
Not giving veterans what they need while $350 million was sitting stagnant in an account for them.
Calling off our 4 jet Syrian bombing mission, and then putting boots on the ground endangering soldiers for no reason.
This is just some without even mentioning his party's blunders in Ontario, which caused them to lose official party status in the province due to lack of seats after the last provincial elections.
Not to offend, but I am guessing you like him for the women's answer. My bosses wife said she liked him "Because he looks handsome".

I like Trudeau and the policy of a gender-balanced cabinet, as well as the paternity leave benefits, and it's important to say that I was really happy to see Trudeau make an effort in this interview to clarify the distinction being made with respect to the pay gap (i.e he's not targeting supposed unequal pay for the same work but rather different kinds of work that he thinks ought to be considered of equal value). However I'm a bit more mixed on his answer to the metoo question. You'd think he could see the irony of giving that movement an unqualified endorsement whilst having himself given a response to an allegation of misconduct that largely goes against what the movement purports to be teaching men about themselves. Anyways, if I had to grade him so far I'd give him a B+ overall.

So you figure justin trudeau should decide what a maintenance workers worth is rather than the whole of society ? Also you are in favor of giving 50% of government jobs to women regardless of qualifications ? Even after he just said he had to work for years to try and find women that were interested in the position then bring them up to speed ? I'm all for equality and respect of all humans... but it is a huge mistake to force these issues on people though legislation. Society is changing for the better and it has nothing to do with justin trudeau. Also how could anyone consider listening to a man that supports the me too movement and has a history of groping women ? A real man leads by example.

I think utilising the best of men and womens skills in government will lead to better government, so im hoping this works out for the best for Canada. The only problem im seeing at the moment is that women in workplace and politics are able to eliminate male rivals with a point of a finger and three words "he touched me". There need to be a higher bar of evidence than pointing the finger and letting the press demand their resignations. Im not saying accusations should not be taken seriously, but these accusations should not be spread to media unless there a degree of evidence.
