  • Title : Human Factors - Improving Human Performance for Safety and Operational Excellence in The Oil & Gas Industry
Presenter : Mr. José Carlos Bruno
    Abstract:
The Oil and Gas industry, following other hazardous industries, has finally started to discuss the role of human factors in its operations, particularly in deep-water environments. Even though, most safety systems yet follow the traditional behavioral-based approach to prevent ‘human error,’ seen as the main cause of accidents. Unquestionably, this approach has brought the industry to an unprecedented safety level, making Oil and Gas a much safer industry today. However, being just ‘safe’ may be no longer sufficient to cope with the fast-growing complexity in a leading-edge technological industry.
This presentation brings distinctive paradigms that challenge this traditional view of human factors and its mismatch with the industry's highly-complex systems. Let us then embark on a journey to demystify most of the old paradigms, get to know a different approach from a systems perspective, and explore how human factors could help the Oil and Gas industry improve human performance for safety and operational excellence.
    About Our Guest :
