Props to Brandon and crew for keeping the whole interim as spoiler free as possible. After watching the hands on preview a while back, I mosied on to another outlets impressions, and had spoilers very quickly. Y'all are best in the biz! Just like this game seems to be!

Don't take IGN reviews seriously. They give COD 9+ and Nintendo games 10s even thought they are are 6 and 8 respectively.
9.5 is a wee bit high. But definitely a great game. Now Spiderman 2 on ps5, that will be an 11/10
Thiagl Lima if their first crack at it was this good Im fairly confident 2 will be even better. Have some optimism.
Dame Dolla check out some other reviews if definitely has some problems. But the good far outweighs the bad. I would personally put it at an 8.8-9 ish or somewhere. But I haven't played it yet so obviously don't take it as gospel.

You guys...we did it! We finally got an AMAZING spiderman game. One i have envisioned in the hazy day dreams of my storied youth in the 80s/90s. I am beyond excited that my favorite super-hero of all time has found his place on the sony playstation4, a system that took me a while to get, but now the proud owner of. Not because i grew up with it, or identify with branding (i was a nintendo kid). But because they earned my respect with epic single player gems that buck the system.
The suits, and COD clowns that loudly proclaimed that "single player is dead" has been greatly silenced by a mighty fine piece of work. Amazing job insomniac. Now all i need is Bossman in a spidey suit on the next podcast, and i will be a happy camper.
I finally beat the game today. It was a great ride and I even enjoyed the open world busywork because being Spider-Man felt so great.

Man, that story and the way Spider-Man moves is honestly imho the best I have ever seen. Spidey doesn't even move this awesome in the movies. Insomniac absolutely nailed it.
Spider-Man 2 on PS5 will be absolutely glorious!

This is like the 4th review I've seen and you're the first to mention certain depths like how things in the environment change based on your actions, I'm not sure some reviewers picked up on that perhaps subtle contextual change. And I think that adds to your 9.5 where others gave 8.5 cuz you were seeing a depth that wasn't picked up on by some.
That overcast during the day, omg... I hope there's more than Dusk, Day, and Night to choose after you finish the story.
Have to say that the person that edited the video deserves extra praise for the awesome job.

Haven’t been this pumped on a video game in a very long time. With the way games like COD and BF are being made, I’ve lost all drive to play online multiplayer games, and want to stick to story stuff. So Spider-Man being one of, if not my fav Marvel character getting such an awesome game is perfect for me. This, Devil May Cry, and the Resident Evil 2 release are probably all I’m looking forward to. Gonna focus on my PS4 for awhile, cause I feel like I don’t play it enough.

Honestly, Brandon Jones' voice feels like home when you've been watching Gametrailer reviews since the early days of CZcams... Probably why I only care for his reviews on games or any company he is affiliated with. I remember I used to compare Gamespot, Gametrailers and IGN all the time. Gametrailers was always the one I left agreeing with the most. IGN lately has been bothering me with their reviews... They'll praise a game like this, point out a couple flaws and give it a 8.7... WHAT?!
I come here and see 9.5 and I'm like yup, that makes way more sense.

Finally!! A review that explores more of the city so the side activities feels less repetitive to them than to the other reviewers. 9.5 is a score Insomniac really deserves for this game

I'm not too big a spider-man fan so this doesn't bother me too much, but i really wish you hadn't included that bit about the side character's stealth missions. Still probably wouldd have been better left as a surprise, but otherwise great review Jones!

It’s so damn good, I’m not even a big Spider-Man fan. The towers and other tokens are addictive to collect, it’s just very satisfying to control

Maybe people will give the Infamous series a chance. There’s always a snicker when it’s mentioned, but Second Son is one of my favorite games of all time. Insomniac knows what they’re doing.

Great review as always, this really should set the bar for all super hero games like witcher 3 kinda did for rpgs, not saying Arkham wasn’t great but they kinda back tracked with the last one and imo all activities in Spider-Man are fun idk I just love it

Only touched on but I'm glad I picked the normal difficulty, there are definite momentum shifts in the combat if you get hit by one thing.

I’m playing through this again and it’s amazing how good this game looks and plays. PS4 is killing it with their repertoire of games, it’s amazing really
I kinda wish this was reviewed by anyone other than Brandon. I don't think he'd be as brutally harsh as other EZA members, which is what I need for this game
WAIT so we do have the option to choose 1080p 60fps if we have a PS4 Pro? Please tell me thats why the video is in 1080p 60fps........ Because I cant play 30fps games anymore after making the swap to PC.... Legit the only thing keeping me from getting this game..... EDIT: OK No never mind I can tell just by looking at the review that its not 60fps and was just rendered in 60

I have to be honest, I expected Horizon numbers with like 8 till 8.5, this is a suprise.
I guess they actually did it, made the best spidey game to date.
i was expecting the "GO GET'EM TIGER!" at the end, oh well... cant wait to lock myself this weekend and play this game for the entire thing.

Curious to hear how some of the already anticipated backlash fares. I know QT events were a big topic with the early gameplay videos, and I hear they’re definitely present, though I get the feeling it hasn’t hampered many reviewers I’ve listened to/read today. How did they play for you?
Ok, having now played - gonna answer this one for myself. It’s no problem. It’s no problem at all! Those people worried about that are silly. They’re so few and far between and add a ton to key sequences. Never had much of an issue with QT events, but I get why people are nervous about them. Just please, don’t be that person who misses this game because of a preconception about something like that. It’s SO good!
This is a nitpick but no day/night cycle is a bummer...they say it's for narrative reasons but I wish they went the gta 5 route and had a beautiful time lapse scene of New York when starting a mission.

The one thing I can't stand about this game is how when you swing directly into the side of a building even on a downward again you automatically start sprinting upwards... it's so forced to be smooth. Like why not let me a clumsy spider-man who occasionally slams into the side of a building and ragdolls into the environment it'd be so funny and give you a better feeling when you nail the stunts correctly.
“... recent successful franchises in the superhero genre..” Do you think all these bets about “how many times will X be mentioned in the top 10 reviews” is having some impact on EZA scripting? Not complaining, though. Great work, Brandon.
Been waiting for this game so long, and this game is the one that made me upgrade to PS4 Pro, despite the fact that September ended up being a really expensive month for me, even when excluding the PS4 Pro.

in arkham combat it never looked right with batman teleporting across the room to hit the next dude,

My only worry is how repetitive the missions will be. Hopefully they'll mostly be all different. Other than that, every review I've seen looks good.
what's the name of the narrator? It's great to hear his soothing voice again. Also, it's comforting to know that Insomniac pulled this off, as I was hoping (and somewhat expecting).
