Downgrade HP printer firmware to use compatible/3rd party ink cartridges, non HP chip detected

  • A lot of HP printers would not allow you to use compatible/3rd party ink cartridges anymore. They may show a "non HP chip detected" message and would not print at all. Some may print but cannot show the amount of ink left. Well, you may be able to downgrade the firmware to solve these problems. Here I show you how to do it in Officejet pro 8715 but other models should be similar.

    Thank you Handy Doctor! I fixed my HP Officejet Pro 6968 printer too. I asked my toner supplier and he said he can fix for me for $30 and I need to bring the printer to him. Your video is awesome and helped me save $30.

    When you ran the firmware downgrade, did you do it over a WiFi network or USB connection from PC to HP 6978 printer?

      @@sueforsythe740 unfortunately those are windows files. You have to use a windows computer.
