Before covid, I used to go to japan every year since I had free plane tickets because my dad’s company pays for them (high employee benefits ig?) he also has an apartment there where he doesn’t pay any bills because the company also pays for it.
I basically have free housing and some free travel. Of course, paying for the shinkansen from the airport to our prefecture is probably the most expensive part of the trip.
Aside from that, I eat at cheap restaurants and convenience stores. They both have really good food. The chicken fillet from the family mart near my dad’s apartment is probably the best chicken fillet I’ve ever eaten. It used to be really cheap too, but inflation made it double in price.
The second next most expensive thing is me buying my school supplies in Japan, however, the amount of supplies I buy there for the price is so much more than what I could by in my home country. Plus, the quality is really good.

So I just went there with my family for two weeks, and we came home on Sunday. ✨
It is My mom, dad, little brother and me, so four ppl and my lil bro is nine so it costs a little less having a child with us but when you're over 12 everything tends to cost a little more, rather having a "teen discount" or paying full adult prizes💵 Having cash there is a must.
And keep your self away from arcades okay 👍
The only thing that really costs is the plane tickets.✈️
So it is not actually that pricey even when shopping and traveling around in Japan. For food Family mart is the best when it comes to prices.
And I really recommend watching CZcams tourist Guides they often have restaurants and other places that are not too crowded and not too pricey. Because it's not a tourist attraction.
Over all the whole trip is not much more than a normal vacation.

As a swede, Norway prices is almost the same as Sweden. So I guess the main thing expensive about a Japan trip would be the long flights.
One flight just single way from Sweden to Japan, is about 8000 kr or about 800€ which is about the same as US dollars.
So that times two, per person for a holiday, isn’t the cheapest place to travel too.
A nice sunny vacation to southern Europe would have flights literally 1/10 of the price.

@@IQzminus2Yes, I am a foreign exchange student living in Japan and I can confirm. Food is cheap (of course they also have expensive restaurants but you can get authentic japanese food for less than 1000 Yen or around 6,50 pP at many smaller restaurants), transportation is chrap if you use buses/night buses instead of the Shinkansen (high speed train) and accomondation is normal prized for western standards (30-60 per night). The flight in the main tourist seasons (spring and autum) can easily cost you 1200 Euro tho.

      @marialindell9874 Před 8 měsíci

@@IQzminus2As a Finn I would love to go visit Japan despite having some serious flight anxiety.
Proplem is that the cheapest flights on Finnair currently go for 820 - 1000+€. That's literally a months rent just to go one way in the cheapest seats without buying any of the plane products. Taking into consideration that I live in a zero income household and currently don't have a job (just graduated), even the possibility of saving up enough for a one way flight feels like a fever dream. 😂
Ontop of that I keep constantly getting ads for temporarily Finnair flightprices. The first set of flights advertised (mainly to European countries) are listed as less than 100€ and it always gets my hopes up... only for the second set to flip on with most prices ranging around 700 - 1000€ including Japan. 🥲
With my predicted entry level pay it will take atleast a year or more to even save up for the flights alone.
It's such a pain to try get the money since inflation has gone crazy, the current right-wing government is significantly lowering our social security and employment security laws. In the future, an employer can fire a worker for simply a "propable cause", while the old law is much more protective and safer.
Between all of these events, having dreams becomes an impossibility. Finland is such an expensive place to try simply survive if you life in poverty.

What many people seem to forget is that it can be cheaper in Japan for you if you come from a country where the currency is stronger than the Japanese yen. Yes, living there is relatively affordable, but when you actually live there like I have for 7 years+, you realize that (lower) wages make what you consider super cheap price just normal price, but also make traveling outside Japan more expensive if you want to go to places like North America or Europe. 😅

Wayyyyyyy cheaper than Canada, wow. In Canada a meal out costs around $30 (~$22 usd) a person. I tried to look up the average price of spas but it kept showing hot tubs. So the closest thing I found was a spa resort at a hotel. Depending on what package you get it was: a) 2 hours / $300 ($219 usd), b) 3.5 hours / $465 ($339 usd), or c) 4.5 hours / $505 ($368 usd). Sometimes I get a massage and that’s about 1 hour / $200 ($146 usd). So yeah, pretty expensive. Not to mention, we spend $100-$200 cad every week on groceries.
