- Making horns and random little accessories has always been a huge love of mine- so I hope you can all find this quite useful!
This is the mini-tutorial from Jessica Nigri that inspired by Faun horns!

I'm a bit of a hurry, but didn't want wait before I watched this so I watched it on 2x speed. Very informative, even though I'll never use it. Not much of a creative type myself. Still worth my time though!
Well I appreciate it heaps anyway! I think it's definitely still interesting stuff even if you wouldn't use it yourself!
Pro tip there for us ADD cosplayers who should be doing Sensible Things ;)
You never know when some random knowledge will come in handy in a totally different context
Wow what a whistle stop tour of options! Most CZcamsrs pad out their content, this screams “I’ve got tons more to tell you all but neither you nor I have the time!” 😅 absolutely chock full of tips and tricks, thank you.
Haha yeah none of it is monetized anyway so no benefit to padding. But I think since I've come from Tiktok I'm used to keeping things short and snappy! Plus my editor is amazing haha

I have a constant tension between my desire to make more horns and my limited storage space. Love the insulation foam ones, they look so fun!
The storage space is a big one honestly! especially for anything on a headband!
Oh boy, the temptation to cosplay Karlach! Thanks for the guidance if I should succumb to another impulse build that I probably won't finish
It's amazing that you also show lower cost options that don't require niche or expensive materials
As a broke college student, I really appreciate it
So happy to have discovered this! I found you through your Helluva cosplays and I'm now planning a Hazbin one so you're definitely an inspiration! ❤
I can be a silly little tiefling now :>
You are already a masterpiece of "mother nature", but in addition you achieve the feat of embellishing this masterpiece.
If in addition you love what you do, you can only be fulfilled.
For your cardboard horns on metal, try adding a circle of felt under the horn and the headband, it works well for me.
I'm so thankful that you share your amazing creativity and the skills you have worked so hard to develop. Seeing your YT videos of some of the processes is amazing and so inspiring. You've helped me not give up on several projects that I got stuck on, and got me thinking of better ways to do new things. Plus, your positivity and smile make each photo or video that much better.
Well that makes me so happy to read thank you heaps! It's very easy to get stuck on projects and want to put them down and move onto something easier so good on for getting back into it!
Clicking this (and commenting) so I can see how strong these are gonna be for a future cosplay I’m planning
Another method, which results in very lightweight horns, is to sculpt a buck out of oil clay -- Plasticene or Plastalina, for example -- and cover it with a few layers of paper strips and paste (You could also add a separation layer made of aluminum foil to prevent the paper from sticking to the clay.) Once the glue is thoroughly dry, use a knife to slice through all layers and remove the paper from the clay. Reassemble the paper horn and cover the parting lines with another layer of paper strips. Add a texture layer with papier-mache (such as Celluclay.) Seal with Mod Podge, and paint.
The MOMENT I have some spare time I am doing this! Probably gonna start with antlers, but I really want to try the foam one too :3 (partly because we have ton of that stuff lying around-) Great video, thanks
I don't know if anyone else knows about this, but if you don't want to buy a bunch of headbands, you can have 1-2 headbands that you use with adjustable horns. All you do is you take the headband you want to use, take some cardboard, wire, or heavy duty paper, cut it into a thin strip and wrap it around the width of the headband (make sure you can easily slide it without to much force, but also tight enough so it'll stay in place). Then all you do is hot glue the tube together (I found overlapping one side of the cardboard on top of another then hot gluing that helps), and hot glue the bottom of the horns to each tube. This will not only negate the amount of headbands you need to buy, but also make them adjustable if you want to add something in the middle of around them later like a crown or ears (which you can also make adjustable using this method). It also helps with storage bc you can just have a box with all your peices in it as opposed to a bunch of headbands with large intricate horns that may break easily depending on how you make them.
Also I'm not trying to downplay this video, these methods of making the horns in themselves work amazingly, and ive used the tin foil and clay method so many times for my horns. I just find making horns/ears detachable from the headband helps with storing them. Hope this helps someone :)
Just getting started, maybe doing builds for others, so im loving this informative look!
I don't do cosplay and I don't even put make up on. Still, I'm subscribed to you because I love how creative you are. Great content to watch!!
Sorry for the delay, but thank you so much! I appreciate the support!
This is what i am looking for! Very useful, thank you so much!
I love this and am super excited for your next one!!
thanks so so much for sharing this! i don't really have many special tools like primer and a heat gun etc etc, but for a beginner, i can make things work! once again, thank you!
(Sorry for delay in response, didn't realise this video had gotten some traction!) I hope your horns turn out well! I think the glue gun and foam/cardboard options are good for beginners as they're very easy supplies to get compared to the heat gun or primer, and you can get away with those horns without any kind of primer and just paint straight onto the glue and cardboard!
it's all good! and for sure!!
Imagine having an entire workshop of all these tools lol
In love with you work, thank you for all of this hard work, so fun. I hope this went into allot of documented video footage that is safe for historical reference. Story telling? Movies? I am sure that has been said so many times you don't even want to read it, but your work is amazing, and I appreciate again all your effort and time invested👍👍👍
I love your stuff! This vid gives me so many ideas, thank you ❤ I had once made some Maleficent horns with cardboad, hot glue, paper packing tape, paper mache and a wire hanger on a headband lol! They actually came out a lot better than I thought they would, but a bit heavy.
Was looking for some ways to make horns for my Morax cosplay and this video is absolutely perfect!
This is an art form . Thank you . Cheers
What you do is amazing!
This is gonna help so much on making my Skullie!! Thank you♡♡
Gee, what a great tutorial, thank you so much! My mind just expanded a whole lot :D This is very inspiring
This was SO helpful, thank you!
This is great 👌🏻 definitely giving this a go for my tiefling 😊 thank you
@MissTwisteddd thank you so much for these quick tutorials. 🥰 With all the new innovative ways to build cosplay, I can find it overwhelming. It's good to remind oneself that you don't need laser cutters, 3D printers etc, and good old cardboard will still do the trick. I loved the deer cosplay - so cute!❤
Do the cardboard horns ever get soggy from priming/painting? I want to cosplay as The Last Unicorn, and like the idea of using insulation foam for the horn.
I use pva/woodglue to prime, and I find that thermoplastics like worbla (especially black worbla) stick and form better on/around foam when pva glue is used.
I was running low on gold acrylic paint, so decided to mix it with the PVA wood glue. The finish turned out lovely, and created an almost smooth leather-like effect.
I haven't been in cosplay since 2019, (She-Ra, Weeping Angel) My angel wings were so heavy because I reinforced them with grid wire. I think I may redo them with cardboard and insulation foam spray, so i can carve out the feather patterns in the foam. That's only if the EVA foam ones are too heavy. I broke my back in 2020, and now require a rollator/crutches for mobility, so heavier cosplays are probably out of the window for a long time. I would love to do Medusa, but in an accessible way so that I don't need an extra three people with me to get me in and out of armour just to go to the loo😅.
This video literally deserves millions of view
Amazing and so inspiring ❤
Amazing tutorial
You're very good at what you do and I enjoy your vids. So thank you
Thanks for the useful tips!
Wow, thanks for this video! Your cos plays look amazing and you tips will help me with my Halloween costume! ❤
Im wanting to create my first cosplay ever. being a fae folk Satyre I am really thankful for your video on the horns. ^^ really informative and makes it less ' scary' to try as its very clear. So I thank you for that. I also love your owlchemist she is adorable. Do you have any videos on how to make ears? ^_^
Thank you so much, I hope your Satyr goes well I'm sure it will look awesome!!
I don't have any videos on the moving ears here on youtube, but I do have one that's available through my Patreon!
Fantastic video - definitely inspired to try making the insulation foam horns... although I do have a glue gun and a lot of cardboard so will be trying that method first! Thank you
coming in absolute clutch, making a dragons tooth for my Orcrist build this helped so much
ooh that will be awesome! hope it goes well!
Mmm... that second one might be ideal for making the dragon horns I want to do for my main Halloween costume this year. It looks like I might be able to get a real good curl with those. I'll just have to figure out the best way of mounting them on my head, because I imagine they might get quite heavy as they get bigger. lol
Definitely sounds like a good option! I try and get thicker and thicker headbands for larger horns to try and hold that weight!
@@MissTwisteddd Do you think attaching them right to the wig (in a removable way, of course) might work out? Or would the whole lot just be too heavy in the end? I wouldn't want a visible headband, and having it wide enough to hold the weight would be far too much... unless I stole wefts from another wig and glued them to the headband... that could work, but could also lead to frustration if the headband and wig got tangled together. My wigs always end up super tangled by the end of each night because some of the spaces in the haunted house are... narrow to say the least. Squeezing into places to scare people from leads to snares. Especially in the hospital room and the atrium. lol
I really need to try this. Thanks hun 😁
Super helpful, really helped me in a jam!
Thank you for your amazing tuto! I want to make the horns of Adam from Hazbin Hotel and I think the second method is the most suitable!👌😀
I came over from your owl alchemist shorts. I am curious about how you made the owl head with the moving ears
Thank you! It's a combination of clear string and elastic, I have a tutorial for that one available through my Patreon!
I used to just use air-dry clay to do horns and they were always small ones. The ones I always bought at the store would fall over because of being so heavy and just being held by elastic. But recently I have used libraries 3D printer to make some custom horns, I put a teeny tiny hole in them so I could put the clear jewelry cord through and I have a stop court at the end
12:05 something that will stick well to slick surfaces is a glue called gem tack i used it for sticking gems to a jean jacket and it worked really well and on the bottle it says that it’s really meant for any slick surfaces
Ooh that's awesome thank you! I've used E6000 before but I think I might try this as an alternative!
The blue tape is painters tape and is made to release after about an hour. Masking tape is yellow and holds much better than painters tape.
You can layer yer horns from Styrofoam with paper and pva glue. Don't thin the glue use it full strength and it will dry super hard. And will hold paint really well.🎉
Thank you. Very helpful for my cosplay.
😍You are amazing!
Ive seen your short vids everywhere, i was wondering who was the woman under the cosplay, AMAZING work, you get my creative side itching.
I love this video it realy helps 👍👍👍
You have really amazing cheekbones 😊, great tutorial, thank you 😊
My dream is to cosplay and i love your videos so so soo much!
Great video…wish I’d seen it years ago!
Thank you
Where did you find that kind of Insulation foam board? Sorry, I went to Home Depo and was lost, so I wanna be sure before I buy it!:)))
Thanks!
It's so cool ! Thanks you for teaching us how to make our own creation ! Can you do a tutorial on how to make your "feathered ears" please ... I don't know how to name it 😅
IVE FOLLOWED YOU ON TIKTOK FOR AGES BUT I DIDNT KNOW YOU HAD A CZcams!!!
Haha it's relatively new! Thank you for supporting me here too :)
amazing
Yes I’m making Millie cosplay I need horns
I really love the horns on the left side on your table, the purple white with the blue! Could you show us how you made that? I'd so make something like that. ;3; I just love those horns design. ♥
Thank you so much for this. I want to try to do Czernobog from Disney's Fantasia and the insulation sheet horns look like they're perfect for him.
Lovely, I have cardboard and hot glue! Perfect for a quick headpiece for the fast upcoming burlesque show!
i follow you so long on tiktok but now i saw you first time with out a makeup and cosplay ^^
This is a fascinating look into Cosplay creation, thank you. Will you be going into how you make the Owlgirl headdress or is that one a trade secret? I'm really curios how you make the ears move with your emotional gestures.
Currently I'm making my Bowsette horns after the first tutorial. It's so much fun but also frustrating when you only have a cutter xD thank you so much
Wow! This was exactly what I was lookig for to make horns! I do have one question though, where did you get the insulation foam and what size did you get? (size meaning the thickness of it) Thank you for this awesome tutorial and by the way I love your videos!
Super helpful video! I would love to see one discussing 3D printing and EVA foam
Thank you so much! Sadly I'm not too experienced with either method but I could give it a try for a future video!
Sorry if you get asked this all the time but do you have a tutorial for your moving headwings planned? I would love to use a combination of horns and wings for a couple ren fair outfit ideas i have!
That sounds amazing! The tutorial for the moving headpiece is available only through my Patreon!
Bro has no fear… molding fresh hot glue with bare fingers!?!? Daammnnn 😂
Thanks bud
I need antlers for a Louis Beastars cosplay
I used the foam clay to make an entire log lady log. :D Crayola has different colors of it so I got like a light brown underneath and dark brown pieces I rolled out and "crackled" over the top to look like bark, then brushed it with some acrylics to texture it a bit. It ended up looking EXACTLY like a log but super light cause it was built around a carboard quaker oats tube. It was bizarre.
Well... *had, not sure if crayola still makes it but I hope so I want to make some ram horns to attach to my headset so badly.
do you ever teach how to make the wonderful owl headset you use. I am in love with it
super helpful video, what would you suggest doing for mixed media horns that would need to be in the forehead area? my current thought is some kind of a laurel wreath thing, but heavier and more stable. For context, this would be for a cosplay of Lord Xander, the Collector from Magic the Gathering
I was wonding how you made the head piece for all your bird cosplays. I wanna say inside of those floppy ear beanies but I'm not entirely sure.
Oh I wish there was more cosplay when I was in my 20s
Omg thank you for this video i just want to do something simple for a party
I have a question witch costume is your favorite
Thank you so much for the tutorial! My friend recently showed interest in a cosplay that has horns and commissioned me to make a pair for them (although I have no previous experience in horn making). Though I have a few questions before I start making them.
1. Can the cardboard horns be attached directly to our face? The horns for the cosplay has a similar design to your antlers but the horns you made uses headbands and that's not the look my friend is going for.
2. Does lem fox work as primer? (It's a liquid glue that I think is used for industrial purposes? I'm not completely sure though) Or like any kind of glue? I don't think I'll be able to get mod podge
this is really helpful, as i'm someone who is just starting cosplaying and making my own charachters and stuff, but how did you make those blue horns that wre in the background near the curly ones?
Hi my name is David my name is David I'm not really into cosplay bit old for that but I really like the way you create things and make things and you really surprise me but I do love the owl
thx me and my friend loves to rolplay
These are all awesome! I'm not sure which is my favourite. Have you ever made a large single horn, like a unicorn? How would you suggest making something large, yet sturdy enough? I have an idea for a cute unicorn-satyr but I have no idea how to make the horn >.
My son love your owl headpiece where did you get it or is there a video to learn how to make one? He wants to be owl alchemist for next three barons fair
Use Gorilla brand E6000 to glue yer horns to a head band it will hold very well. awesome 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Can you post a video showing me how I can make my own harpy headpiece like yours? Or do I have to buy a premade one from your website?
😊😊😊😊😊😊
Do you use a spray booth? Even a basic home made one with a usb powered fan would help keep the fumes down.
i would try poly foam
12:12 Maybe try a smaller needle instead. As long as it's not smaller than the thread. Smaller needles are easier to get through uncooperative materials and thick layers.
here we go with specimen 8 antlers
I'm gonna use the glue gun one to make demon horns for my persona!!! Thank you!!
Any links or where to get the foam panels ? Everything local to me is styrofoam
Mount the cutter it's easier to move the pad
I love all of the options but I want to try the last one my question is what is play foam it has another name to look it up?
I didn't see it but is there something else that can be applied to the base of the horn other than latex so it'll stick better, because I have a bit of an allergy of latex?
I have one ouestion how did you do the owl thingy that the angle cosplay have?🤔
Can you upload a video making dose gorgeous owl moving ears ;----;?
