The button on the right side of the toaster is the bagel option which toasts one side, you need to face the sides you want toasted away from the middle for this. Hope this helps!

The bottom of the kettle is a result of calcification. A by product of boiling water process. Expensive or cheap, you can't avoid that. You can do descaling to help.
I had a cheap kettle that lasts for 4 years without calcifications although i dont have water filter

Good for you not to have calcium and magnesium in your water. Many of us don’t have that luxury.
The toaster does toast bagel only on one side, if you operate it correctly. Push the bagel button and turn bagels cut side out. That's it. Such a great toaster. 4.5 our of 5 stars on Amazon thousands of reviews.

Thank you for providing this. I know Smeg is very expensive and the design is so cute. But at the end of the day, your appliances need to work properly. Shade difference is a concern, but the big concern is the peeling of enamel from the kettle. I appreciate knowing your experience with this brand. Thank you again for posting this information.

I found this review very helpful. Good point about the weird shaped coffee pot that can't pour into its own reservoir, so poorly designed for such a expensive unit.

I own all three but in off white. I can say when you buy SMEG, you are buying the design and brand but you wont be buying innovation, quality is good but for price I expect more. I will say, in OFF WHITE, all colors match even though I bought them separately over long periods of time ❤

That's good to know about the colorss; glad I chose black. I love my toaster. I remove debris after every use, no build up. Good to know about the coffee maker temperature. That sucks.
Yes it is. Our previous regular coffee maker was making much hotter coffee.

For 140.00 you could have bought a much better product and still had at least 100.00 left over. I'd even go w something cheap like Aldi. Or take a cheap one and paint it w engine black paint. Assuming it doesn't get hot on the outside...

That's a TREMENDOUS overstatement. I laughed MA off in BB n B for what they wanted for this CRAP. Huge mistake to spend 140 on a Chinese toaster that NEVER WORKED ONCE.
If you want colors, use a heat paint on a cheap 25.00 toaster that doesn't get hot (earlier ones get hot on the outside). I've never done this, but no reason it won't work if you use heat paint. Like engine paint.

I don't have any desire to switch from my go-to brand (Breville, along with KitchenAid/Vitamix), but on your kettle, have you tried to put lemon wedges and boil to see if the bottom comes clear?
Not sure if we tried. These brand you mentioned Breville, KitchenAid... are much better quality.

It's unfortunate that most settings are absent on these appliances. Also the different colors is ridiculous
Yes, for that price you would expect a better quality and functionality.
instead of coffee pot, why don't you use vase that has pour shave like - which will help to pour the water into the machine?
You can use other things no problem but isn't pot supposed to be for that?

@@cockiecat4440 oh also having limescale in kettle should do (should watch instruction how to remove the limescale on CZcams) descaling with lemon with water or baking soda with water to remove limescale, to cleaning any expensive color small appliances should gently wiped with soft damp cloth and then gently dry off with again soft cloth, make sure each time use the toaster-empty the crumb tray ( it looks brand new , doesn't matter what age of small appliances - if often do this way )

I’ve had the kettle for 3yrs, so far no chipping and still looks brand new. we use almost every day.
Also love the coffee machine. Using the carafe to fill up the reservoir is a little funky but not that big of a deal. I’ve been filling it that way for yrs pretty easily. I think people just enjoy complaining nowadays.

Their toaster was the biggest mistake I ever made. 140 for plastic GARBAGE is insane. Never. WORKED ONCE.
Very bad first customer experience with 2 of 3 SMEG appliances acquired in Dec. 2022.
I had to replace the kettle one month later and now I have to replace the coffee maker which causes an electrical malfunction in my new kitchen (check was done by an electrician).
Definitively lack of quality / reliability.
Good design is not enough...

The one I got was 25.00 out the door. Just silver but works fine. Browning knob clicks if you don't want to accidentally burn your toast when you bump it while moving it around.
For whatever reason, I also don't have to clean it as much as the overpriced KitchenAid silver stuff, which im.ALWAYS cleaning!
No black/silver appliances--NEVER TF AGAIN. Until I'm rich and someone else can clean them up every DAY!
I wanted the Smeg coffee maker for about a year and finally got it for my Birthday. I hate it. It’s not functional it’s not a good design, the buttons can be confusing. I’m sending it back 😢

Squeeze a lemon inside the kettle, fill it up with water, drop the lemon, turn the kettle on. Once it's done leave it as it is with the water and lemon inside for about 6 hours. You'll thank me later.
I bought only the coffee maker and I will never buy another SMEG appliance. It simply isn't worth the money. If you want coffee, you want to have coffee to last, not to go cold.

Terrific review! I refuse to buy any of these products because the name is almost identical to...... something unpleasant. I know it's an acronym, but to emblazon item with a huge, unpleasant sounding brand name is bizarre. Every time I'd see the name, I'd think of this.... unpleasantness. So, no thank you.

Bought a toaster from BB n B for the INSANELY overpriced 140.00 USD!
It was ALL PLASTIC! Which tells me I'm being scammed immediately. Weighs nothing, you could see it getting yanked off the counter by a kid or a pet w no effort. That tells you NO right away.
YES, phones weigh nothing as well as other items that are artificially weighted on purpose to maje you feel like you're getting a deal. It seems to correlate w how much you spend. I have a B n O stereo where the remote would kill someone if I beaned them with it.
This thing was cheaper made than a KID'S TOY.
NEVER WORKED ONCE!! You have to plug it in or apparently you won't get the electric resistance to make it go, but even then, yjust a cheap, Chinese SCAM!
If you want a pink toaster, buy engine/hot use spray paint (the outside will be cold in most modern toasters, anyway) tape it off and try that.
SMEG Fridge out of warranty is WORTHLESS, for a landfill site near you. Don’t. SMEG Toaster, Kettle ok - Fridge Freezer will ‘cost’ you around GBP1200 -1500 over 4 years and that is ridiculous. They just see you as a mug to join the company income stream. Be Warned!

Your complaints are unreasonable. You need a change of perspective. It is your attitude. You need some Jesus to enjoy what God blessed you with. You need different eyes. By the way, The coffee pot is never meant or designed to pour water into the coffee pot. It is meant to hold the coffee. The way you complained about everything was all about the way you use them and clean them. It is not Smeg’s fault. You are supposed to clean the calcium build up on the kettle and not blame the kettle. The toaster you didn’t do it right and it is your job to clean it after each use. The paint chip inside the rim of the kettle is a long term wear from the hot water. It did not chip on the outside. Smeg is for certain people who wants to enjoy fine things. Please stop making Smeg sound like they make bad appliances. You are sending customers who desire to buy them away from it. Not good.
