When I saw this I had hoped Cecil had a backup or something. He was such an interesting character and it was a shame to see such a pivotal character go.
i think it cemented how much of a threat robot was. He was the other strategic mind in cecil’s operation, and seeing him go left only robot to take control
Cecil was actually really incompetent. His death helped the story. What plan did Cecil every set up that actually went through successfully? He couldn't control Omniman, Invincible, Robot, or pretty much any other hero. He lost Conquest. Dude was simply not very good at his job. A fitting end of you ask me. I actually like Cecil too but he was so far over his head since issue #1
@@acatnameddog he did make some really bad mistakes. Him keeping that dark wing kid but tryna put the werewolf in prison was incredibly hypocritical. I kinda feel like that was more a flaw in the writing though. The problem where they make an incredibly competent character but have to dumb them down for the plot to move.
Like how he handled conquest, literally "forgot" to put the sonic stuff in his ears or contain him properly.

The show might change it to have Cecil fain ignorance to try and get Robot to leave, but Robot knowing how Cecil used that same tactic on Omni man would know better and still kill Cecil. The story wouldn't change, but the context would.

Eh alot of superheroes at that time are either defied his order, left the organization, doing their own thing or dead. He was losing his control over them and his mental state went down. Seems normal to me since Cecil is just a normal human with teleporter, and without teleporter Cecil is very vulnerable. He didn't always have contigency plan all the time.
Still a better writing and way more believable than Batman's plot armor of taking down evil Superman and Darkseid unscratched which is some bullshit.

ominman is a viltrumite though, very INVINCIBLE so Cecil had to act calm to prevent omniman from doing anything else, meanwhile robot is just a robot, so Cecil can take him out easier
Think of it this way. Batman is gonna be extremely cautious when he finds out superman is evil. He may not be as cautious when he finds out Cyborg may be evil and he has superman standing right by his side. If Cecil didn't have mark there he may have been more cautious. He wasn't expecting Mark to get incapacitated so easily.

Dude this plot point is stupid he has a backup for his secretary (guy with glasses) and some lther random people bit not of himself. The hyper intelligent strategist, guy who think 5 steps ahead, and is a pivotal figure. Like its more out of character to NOT have a backup in case but then again if they did then their would be no stakes because afterall you can just res anyone and anything that dies to the viltrums
The only way I see him not having a backup is if robot messed with it since it is weird he wouldn't have one

The word dimension is used way too often for such an incorrect definition
Technically he's coming from another universe but to the layman universe and dimension are interchangeable( they're not scientifically/mathematically but are in a colloquial sense)so it's definitely easier to use dimension most of the time people will understand what you mean

The series and show is heavily symbolic and has many deep themes. I think Cecil dying like this is the exact intention. We all want and expected more from the seemingly unending contingencies. It refocusses the perspective that life is fragile and how permanent death is, as well as living by the sword and dying by it. Rarely do you expect to die by the sword you lose it all to. Especially a man like Cecil with the perceived power he had. It really was a matter of time, and as a regular human, how much could we really expect from Cecil when in the face of the powers existing in the Invincible universe?

I hope in the show they revisit and maybe even reconsider this death. Cecil in the show seems like the type of character who wouldn’t be duped into dying so simply, but would instead only die if he were in “checkmate” for lack of a better word. I could totally see Cecil willingly accepting death if it was simply the best course of action for the planet in that moment.
Honestly I wasn’t too upset when comic Cecil died it didn’t feel like he was anything special, show Cecil seems far smarter and more cunning tho so hopefully it takes a little more to kill him. It’s pretty much the same situation with Shrinking Ray, the comic version came and went but keeping the show version was the right move because she has way more personality and ending her this fast would be a waste.
I love how every time I find a show I actually like (incredibly rare!) it gets spoiled for me. Majorly. Over and over. No matter how many channels I block or hit not interested. And it’s sad because I would be interested normally, but no one knows how to use a spoiler warning.
