    I received my Casio ctx700 a week ago and I am absolutely blown away by how it sounds that AIX chip technology just does it justice that rich powerful sound I bought it brand new from eBay for £199.00 here in uk. I do like some of the rhythms that’s built in, but others I don’t really care for. And the songs which I can mostly play are good, I do love the keys and really prefare these key type rather than the ones with the gap underneath the key. Also the lcd screen is really clear to read, I am going through the keyboard manual and figuring out what the keyboard does and it’s features, but for the price I have paid it’s just a phenomenal keyboard indeed. Casio have done an amazing job making this keyboard. Thank you so much. 🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼

    The CT-X series is a serious game_changer for those of us who have been learning to play on a budget. The piano samples are a significant improvement over the previous CTK series which I believe it was designed to replace. You mentioned that there are 20 piano samples - is that just acoustic tones? Also what's the heartburn between 5 pin din midi as opposed to usb midi?

    I just got my keyboard a few days ago and, despite having had two others over the years, I am slowly getting used to this and its settings.
    Question: the volume of the right hand seems very loud and even with turning down the 'accompaniment volume', only the left hand below the split point appears to get softer. I am using the auto -assist chords #5 setting.: 5 finger assist . Thanks so much for this video. Do you have more detailed vieos going over functions?

    The piano and ep sounds seem genuinely listenable. I mean, especially at this price point, but even if you're doing a small gig, they seem manageable. Personally though I know a guy that runs a Casio from the previous generation for short church gigs, and finds enough to sound fine.

    @ this price point, this is the closest that I've seen an arranger come to emulating brass and woodwinds with minimal synthesizer 'aftertaste'. You know how when you drink diet sodas you're left with that horrid lingering aftertaste? That's the feeling i get when listen to some professionally recordings where they couldn't pay a few horn players and tried to emulate the sound on a keyboard

    • @PianoManChuck

      Most likely not. CDP-S350 is a European model which will only be available in the USA exclusively from Guitar Center. No other Casio dealers in the USA (including myself) have access to this model at this time unless we go to Guitar Center to buy it --- that's NOT going to happen! Can I dial in that sound with the Casio CTX-700. Also I'm curious if I could get a great sond for Phantom of the Opera. Check out CZcams Phantom of the Opera - Xaver Vanus 9 years ago playing in the Theater in Canada. I like his slow measured version the best. When you demo pianos what is you amp setup

    • @PianoManChuck
      @PianoManChuck  Před 6 lety

      Amp is irrelevant since I record the instrument directly from its "line outputs", not speakers (no amp, speakers or mic used to record keyboard sounds).

    Hey, Chuck! Are you using the same Zoom audio interface?

    At about 2m17s you say the CT-X700 will sound "yet another way if you hold the keys down." Are you referring to legato playing? If so, which sounds in the CT-X700 offer this? If I understand this correctly (and I may not) this is a very big deal for a lot of acoustic instruments (e.g., woodwinds, brass, guitars) since they never sound quite right on keyboards that lack this feature.

      The video at the point you referenced, specifically references two other points in the video (via scrolling text) where you can hear examples of that. One of those references is at 20:27 for a specific example. It all depends on WHAT instrument you're playing at the time as far as what holding the key down will do.

    • @alenk738
      @alenk738 Před 6 lety

      I think you misunderstand me. Those examples don't illustrate legato switching of samples. They DO show velocity switching and, in the case of the trumpet ("See what happens when I hold it?"), holding the key down just allowed the delayed vibrato to kick in (it may be sampled vibrato, which is of course nice). I don't hear any evidence of legato-switched articulations. The Korg PA series, the Yamaha Motif and the higher-end Yamaha arrangers have all done that for years. As I said, it's crucial for emulating some instruments and rather sad if Casio's AIX still can't do it.

      The opening song is my own composition called "Forgotten". See czcams.com/video/2K7YLXkalxE/video.html
      The song at 18:31 is the opening to "Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who. See czcams.com/video/cVCnKr4r-1g/video.html

      luc dajac I would say, yes. Of course Casio doesn’t have all the features of Yamaha but the sound seems to be way better.

      Hi Chuck, Great review as always. I Gig a PX 560, which is fantastic , but do you know if Casio are planning an 88 Note Stage Piano replacement with the AiX sound chip ,I am presently looking at a CTX 5000 but would prefer 88 Piano weighted keys so wonder if I should wait ?
