  • We have the longest range version of the ID.4 in for our standardized 70-mph highway loop-style #EV range test! It's a hot day, there's some wind, but overall this is a solid test of a very solid offering. #VW #ID4

So far my ID.4 Pro S I've had now for 2 months continues to amaze me. Makes for easy passes on rural and interstate highways. Quiet as a church mouse on the road. The seats are so far the best I'd run across and most certainly superior to the Mach-E and Tesla's. Sat in both those and they don't compare. I've not had any glitches with the Infotainment as some reported early on. The OTA update will likely still be a good thing. On the interstate at 85mph it's like you're in a space ship. Smooth and quiet.

These videos do good public service to let us know the actual highway range - because the carmakers don’t tell us. This is going to be a problem with EV adoption among the “normals” and not us EV nerds who watch Kyle’s videos. Last weekend I was talking with new ID.4 owners who had taken theirs on a trip. I asked how they did with highway range and they just laughed and said “a lot less than 260.” Car buyers are used to getting BETTER range on the highway. No one tells them they’re going to lose 15% range even going under the speed limit. That’s not too bad when leaving with a 100% charge, but on the second or third leg of the trip after charging to 80%, your 260 mile car is now 180 miles (if you don’t mind running it under 10%). 180 miles is 3 hours of driving, but with most EVs not starting from a 260 mile point, it’ll be less. I know the EPA lists separate city and highway MPGe, but the highway range should also be prominently featured along with the advertised city range.

Alot of lower class people or people who struggle drive cars that ruin air quality. I live in CA and i see it. So people who are struggling need to switch to the ev's. But middle class and up usually get smog checks. And our gas vehicles won't ruin the earth. However im still gettin this car. And hopefully hydrogen cars are next

This vacation we took it to Italy. No problem what so ever except that we got a flat rear tire, and as the tire is a run flat self sealing our ID4 did not have the "foam" and airpump to fix the tire.
The flat tire happened on a Friday night, and every pump station was closed and no air pumps.
The tire was also to much damaged to self seal, so we needed a new 21" tire. No way in hell to get this tire easily in Italy ended up buying a new (Pirelli) tire to get back home to the Netherlands (about 1500 km drive).
Anyway, The car performed great, and even better in the mountains !

My next door neighbor bought one a month ago. Hit a deer 10 days after he bought it and the dealer didn't have any parts in stock since it so new. It's his first EV and is having a bit of range anxiety. He's an engineer so he's always in the "what if" mode. I.E. What if I have an emergency and just got home and don't have enough charge or some such thing. I figure he'll get over it after a while. That being said, this will probably be the EV I get (Pro S AWD) if the Ioniq5 is out of my price range.

Official WLTP is 520km (323mi) for this model, realistic range should be around 410km (254mi). I guess that's only when you stay off the highway... Have to say that 368km (229mi) is still quite disappointing, especially since the fastest charge rate of this model is 135kW and you will never drive it from 100% to 0%, so realistic range will be more around 300km (186mi).
I'm reconsidering ordering this, but I guess there's really no alternatives in this price range if you want this kind of space and an electric vehicle.
The plug-in Hyundai Tucson suddenly became more interesting but unfortunately I can't even order one because they are no longer taking orders where I live (same for the Ioniq 5).

I have own my ID4 since March of 2021 and I live in San Diego CA, the charge on my car can never go above 230 miles on the display at 100% charge... typically 220-227 depend on a hot day or not. I have taken this car into dealerships so many time it equates to about 25% of its life on various problems related to hardware faults and software faults. To stay on subject, we found out that the distance calculations software within the ID4 uses historical driving habits to determine estimated range the vehicle can reach and displays that number to the driver. However, if a new driver ever purchased this car from us in the future there is no way to determine if the battery has any reduced battery capacity. We asked our dealership if we can erase historical driving pattern data to determine if the battery has reduced it capacity and they informed me that there is no way to perform this action. This is a beautiful car but I would not recommend this car to anyone unless they have purchase warranties to cover the constant fault we have in our car. Like one guy once tried to convince me... why do you want to have a reliable car if you have 100% warranty to cover problems.

Maybe if he did a test with half the miles on the highway and half around town, he would have hit those numbers.

The ID4 "standard" model with a smaller battery and 50 miles less range is $39,000. He got the price of the "Pro" he is testing wrong.

Hello, I have a fire in my first Volkswagen ID.4 Cruze 2022, used for two weeks only, due to a manufacturing defect
The car was put on the charger for three hours, and then it started burning from the inside of the back of the car, this was the fifth charge
The manufacturing defect was proven by civil protection reports and technical and engineering reports.
