my customer decided to restore his rusty bike to a city bike used for commuting everyday.

Me too, but the dropout is quite incompatible to fixed gears.

Excellent work... Most of the time, simple gearing at the back is enough. I like the chrome which is really good, and I would have painted the lugs as well, but that is just my personal choice. 5/5...

great job on the restoration. I would have put the red on the head tube to show off the lugs. I am not a big fan of extra wide handlebars... but that is a personal preference. It looks like you could have used a quill stem and that would have made it more elegant...again that is a personal choice. I love the low budget 1X drive train!
