if you would of kept good reputation with the brotherhood of steel you could have gotten a microfusion cell and energy cell exploit, they leave free ammo for you in a crate in the corner of their base, and if you travel in and out of the room it refills so you have infinite ammo for energy weapons that you can also sell for caps

I disagree honestly the setting for this game is absolutely horrible it's just desert for miles and there's like barely anything out there for you to explore, most of the time it's just a walking simulator where you walk around waiting for a deathclaw to spawn next to you and kill you just so you can walk again hoping that it doesn't happen again. There's literally no cover in the wasteland there's nothing out there but sand and rock and the story is more confusing then anything I find myself half the time with this game not being able to understand anything that's going on. There are a few areas in the game that are full of environmental storytelling and actual environments but 80% of it is just boring emptiness. Even New Vegas itself isn't very interesting, the only place you can get anything is in small camps, cities which there isn't much of, and bunkers which are few a dozen so good luck getting weapons. I just think Nevada is a terrible setting lacking any visual interests and bland in color, I can barely bring myself to even launch the game because I have to ask myself and I really prepared to walk across this giant empty wasteland for 2 hours straight? I know my opinion is in the minority and I would like to be proven wrong but so far I haven't been able to find anything to prove me wrong.
I'll try my best to explain why most think this is the best using your statements and countering them... well, trying to, at least. "you walk around waiting for a deathclaw to spawn next to you and kill you just so you can walk again hoping that it doesn't happen again." This is called 'competent game design.' It encourages the player to seek alternate routes and maybe return to the deathclaw route once they've gathered XP, gear or a companion. It gives the player something to look forward to accomplishing a challenge later on. (The original Fallout had this, too where if you go straight towards the objective, you get ambushed by high-level enemies.) Fallout NV was made with the o.g devs, which is why power scaling was removed, but this can be re-added with mods. "Barley anything out there to explore" The map literally has over 186 with icons with 118 internal locations. 250 Quests that can't all be done in one playthrough, allowing replayability "the story is more confusing then anything" The story is more gripping to the right people (clearly not everyone) than anything and tells a tale of humanity's dogmatic greedy thirst for power with Benny and the power struggle between people and factions ideological, political & economical, something the following games lack. "Nevada is a terrible setting lacking any visual interests and bland in color," Just because it's trying to be authentic doesn't make it terrible. If you wanted a visually stimulating environment, then it is clear you want a different game, so I'm sorry that didn't happen. Also, it came out in 2010, and that's different from what they were going for. Only some Fallout games need to take place in a city. Nevada also fits the game's Western' theme, something the devs wanted to do. It's unfair to judge a dev based on an authentic artistic choice, but I will say that the devs visited Nevada and modelled it after it. You'd be surprised that some like seeing their state represented in art. It was supposed to look much more beautiful and detailed, with the Lucky 38 always visible from any distance. However, the engine couldn't handle it. You might enjoy how beautiful the desert in the Mad-Max game looks if you can get past the 30fps lock. "Even New Vegas itself isn't very interesting, the only place you can get anything is in small camps, cities which there isn't much of, and bunkers which are few a dozen so good luck getting weapons" A somewhat civilized city that has a cannibal faction and is being ruled by a computerized autocratic man in a wasteland that was decimated over 100 years ago isn't interesting? If not, you can purchase some from vendors. There are also three unique weapons in New Vegas. "am I really prepared to walk across this giant empty wasteland for 2 hours straight?" Once again, it is not empty, which is surprising for a desert, and POIs are typically within one to five minutes of each other. I know that the average modern consumer's attention span has worsened, but that's not the game's fault. Also, fast travel exists. There, I tried.

The thing with the wasteland 2 is that you can't go any direction because every direction you could possibly go is a death trap, in this game you'll be wandering around for an hour straight finding basically nothing interesting for a long time and anything that you do find is not really that rewarding, an example would be you find a bunker but it took you an extremely long time to find it and half the time you were fighting with radscorpions and you might be pretty exhausted already. For me after fighting 10 billion trillion enemies the last thing I want to do is explore a bunker which is also probably full of enemies It's just not fun it's exhausting, maybe I'm just not playing it right but even then it's not pleasing to looks at and regardless you still spend most of the time fighting a trillion enemies that's pretty much all there is to do. The biggest thumbs-down for me is the fact that you can't run in this game and there's no cover in the wasteland at least until you get near New Vegas which by then already takes way too long and gives you enough time to hate playing.

I have hundreds of saves from several playthroughs because i always make a new save whenever i manual save lmao

For me after fighting 10 billion trillion enemies the last thing I want to do is explore a bunker which is also probably full of enemies
It's just not fun it's exhausting, maybe I'm just not playing it right but even then it's not pleasing to looks at and regardless you still spend most of the time fighting a trillion enemies that's pretty much all there is to do.
The biggest thumbs-down for me is the fact that you can't run in this game and there's no cover in the wasteland at least until you get near New Vegas which by then already takes way too long and gives you enough time to hate playing.

I agree with the sprinting part, though. I couldn't even get the darn mod to work.
However, I can concur that you have vastly different tastes compared to most Fallout Fans which is good in it's own way.
And you did indeed give it a chance so I have to respect that.
The game isn't for everyone, especially nowadays but it'll still always be a classic in the franchise.

Visually, the world isn't as captivating, locations are on the smaller side, and there aren't as many complex dungeons to explore.
Based on your focus on these issues, it seems like you might lean more towards the "Action Adventure, exploration driven, Looter-Shooter" style of Fallout found in Bethesda's games. That's a valid preference, and it may mean that New Vegas won't fully appeal to you.
However, one criticism you made suggests you may have missed out on the game's depth: the idea that the "story is confusing." In reality, the story is straightforward but player-driven, offering significant narrative agency. This is where New Vegas truly shines. Every quest, character, faction, and location contributes to world-building and creates a rich tapestry for players to explore. With an open-minded and thorough playthrough, you'll gain a profound understanding of the setting.
While it may appear complex due to the web of factions and characters, it's not overly complicated. The game provides clear faction goals that are relatable and grounded. And New Vegas grants players an unprecedented level of agency in both the main story and side quests, a quality that many fans adore. It excels not by improving what other modern Fallout games do well but by addressing their weaknesses. It pays homage to the strengths of classic CRPGs and embraces the series' roots (Fallout 1 and 2). For Fallout fans who appreciate the classical RPG elements, no other entry can compare.
This characteristic also results in a game that starts slowly but gets better as you progress. In most Bethesda style games, the fun often starts when you gain the freedom to explore the world but can fade as you exhaust all the content. Conversely, New Vegas starts off weakly but builds momentum, introducing factions one by one, explaining their philosophies, motivations, and opinions on current affairs. The sense of freedom only truly emerges when you've developed enough understanding to make informed decisions about quest outcomes. Once you reach that point, you gain access to the aforementioned narrative agency and shape the world's fate. While Fallout 3 and 4 attempt something similar, they don't match New Vegas in this regard, just as New Vegas falls short in areas you've highlighted.
Because of the well-crafted factions and numerous choices available, New Vegas remains engaging even after you've set it aside. You'll ponder whether your decisions were right, listen to others' perspectives, imagine the world you've created, and replay quests to explore alternative outcomes.
If you've read this far into my rambling (thank you for your time and patience!), you might be wondering why you should invest in a game that takes several hours or more to become enjoyable when there are other games that offer immediate fun. It's a fair question, and for many, the answer is to pass on it. However, for most New Vegas enthusiasts, the initial slow pace wasn't a significant obstacle to their enjoyment. If you appreciate this type of game, the other Fallout titles may feel lacking in comparison, just as New Vegas may not fully satisfy those who prefer the exploration-driven, looter-shooter, dungeon-crawler style of Bethesda's Fallout games.
@@SquirtleHermit thank you for giving a response that was actually constructive and didn't insult my opinions, I haven't actually finished New Vegas and I haven't gotten very far so it could be true that perhaps there's more that I'm just not seeing yet but it's just so difficult to get to that stuff when you have to go through so much mental torture going across the wasteland and such.
