I think you have to judge things in context...If we had a great squad and a winning way of playing when Mikel took over, yes 5th, 8th, 8th is a massive failure and sackable. But the squad was shit and toxic. Many mediocre players and staff just milking money. Mikel wants to play a style of fotball which demand a completely different set of players. You cant shift a whole squad and at the same time implement a new way of playing, and changing the culture over night. Look at Chelski, look at Spuds...This is his 3rd full season and we are now 3-4 signings away from completeing the re build, we have been playing the best and most exciting fotball, and we have challenged Man Cheaty and will finish firmly in top 4 in 2nd place. I think Mikel has earned the right to get the last players in, finish the build and go again next season. However...next season also means no excuses, we MUST challenge to win in all 4 comps.

Arteta and the club clearly want to win something big. The ambition is there, you can't buy a whole new squad in one transfer window. Chelsea have tried, they are 11th right now. The premier league is better and more competitive than ever, it's harder to win a league title legitimately now then it was 10 or 15 years ago.

After those fa cup wins for the past years, we have never truly kicked on and challenged/win the prem or CL. I finally got what i have wanted for us to compete for the league. Yes we bottled it in the end, but this will be a learning curve for this team and i should expect our squad to improve next season so we can challenge for all fronts.
@@no-vk2qe A season with a trophy is always better than a season with one - but you need to challenge for a league for once and for the first time since 2008, we have challenged properly for a title until the latter stages (the way and manner in which we have bottled it and fallen away is a disgrace and i dont like how we neglected the cup comps) - so this is something that Arsenal need to build on in upcoming seasons and we need to go hard in the Summer and spend big and go again next season and use this title challenge as a springboard to challenge on all fronts (not just the PL). Arteta needs to win at least one trophy next season and challenge on all fronts - including the league and getting to the latter stages of the UCL

Backwards? Lee needs to learn basic maths. Arsenal finished 5th and then 6th in Wenger's last two seasons. We finished 5th under Emery, finished 8th, 8th, 5th and then 2nd under Arteta. One of those 8th, Arteta joined halfway through the season (so half is on Emery and Ljungberg). So if we ignore the half season it's 8th, 5th and then 2nd. That's actually forward 3 positions season on season

Lee is pretty much the only Arsenal fan that reminds me of the mentality there was in the club and amongst the fans during the Graham and early Wenger years when I was living on Highbury Hill.
