SeaJets SUPERSTAR former Ostend ferry now 50yrs old!

It was with great excitement A2B via Sea was able to embark on the seven hour voyage between Paros and Rafina calling at Mykonos, Tinos and Andros - plenty of time to fully investigate and record the interior of this 1970's legend.
Built in 1974 as Prince Laurent for the Belgian Ostend Dover Line, she remained on the English Channel until 1991 when she was replaced by the brand new Prins Filip (now Isle of Innisfree of Irish Ferries operating between Dover (UK) and Calais (France) - for a guided tour please refer to the Irish Ferries playlist on this channel.
Prince Laurent's company (Regie voor Maritime Transport, RMT) entered into a marketing agreement with Sealink, Townsend Thoresen and P&O European Ferries to promote the Ostend/Dover route.
Superferry has been rebuilt over the years having additional accommodation built upon her original superstructure - if you look closely from the quayside you can actually see the joins!
Internally there are still areas which have been untouched since 1974 - some of the windows are original along with the aft mast, some of the cabins and the original logo still visible on the funnel to name a few.

One think i noticed about the Belgain Ships was there smell. Do they smell the same now?? She looks well for her age well maintained etc.

Hello Richard. Just seen your comment. Sorry for the delay. I know what you mean; the PMC and PA had a distinctive smell internally. No, the former Prince Laurent was very fresh-almost like new. A blog will be published to www.a2bviasea.co.uk early in the new year.

Πανέμορφο το πλοιο και μεσα. Στης Σποράδες που είναι τώρα ο κόσμος θα το λατρεψει οπως εμείς τοσα χρόνια στην γραμμή Άνδρο Τηνο Μύκονο.
