Buffing Old Paint and Peeling Clear Coat on the 85 F-150. Huge Difference!

- Bringing out the shine on my old 35 year old paint was far easier than I thought it would be. All it took was a little time, elbow grease, a buffer, some pads, and some compound and my truck's paint job went from dull and ugly to shiny and much less ugly!
Before I buffed the paint I had to make sure everything was clean, so I pressure washed, hand washed, and then used clay bar on the entire truck. Then I used a Harbor Freight buffing pad along with a Tacklife buffer and Meguire's Ultimate Compound to achieve my paint correction. I'm thrilled with the results.
Once everything was done I put on some Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating. We'll see how it holds up. I might do a video in the future discussing how it does over the course of a year. For more information on it or to see how it stacks up vs the competition, see Project Farm's video here: • Best Ceramic Spray Coa...
The only part of the truck that I couldn't really do anything with was the hood, but you'll see that in the video. The paint there is just too far gone. I have a plan for that though in an upcoming video.
Update! See how the truck looks and how this job held up after three years in the harsh NM sun.

Got a 83 back in oct with 62000miles. Fell in love Now I'm a Ford guy. Rebuilt the carb and now I'm buffing it. Keep them coming .
This truck looks great! The buff and polish really dressed it up. I think you should continue with the philosophy of "Make it better than it was" when you're making changes to the truck. It's a good way to have fun, enjoy yourself, and not get burnt out.
Love your approach, "I'm going for better than it was..."! I'm in the same boat, restoring an old pickup for a new teen driver. Thanks man, this is great, I'm in the same position, learning by doing, and appreciate your content very much.
Just found this channel. Glad I did. Such a friendly, watchable dude 🙏👍💪
Me too!
Good guy...No cussing and acting stupid!
Love it man! Currently working on my 86 250 diesel bullnose and you’re giving me great ideas.
Good, simple explanation of everything. Great video!
That turned out so nice. Awesome truck I’m excited to see what you do with it
I'm working on a 1994 F 250 XL 4x4 Heavy Duty. It has some rust but not too bad. I'm glad i found your channel to give me some tips to save some cash.
You inspiring me in working more and more in my 82 ford
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have always wondered what the results would be.
SWEET........46:36 nice shot of your Bullnose and Orgon Mountains, keep it going dude
i bet if you got some cutting compound you could feather the clear coat into the hood and blend it nicely.
Looks great. Can't wait to try it on mine. Thanks. Timmy D. Neeley
Just found your channel. Keep up the good work and I'll follow along as well.
Looking good, great truck.
Beautiful truck mate
The truck looks great. I actually have the 94 version in the same short bed and bright red color but my hood and roof are worse than yours. I did a clay and one step polish and brought back the shine. Your video is making me want to cut and ceramic it. I definitely think I will sand and repaint/clear the hood and roof. Keep up the good work.
It actually turned out pretty good. 😎👍
HOLLYYYYYYYY I am about to get my first car, sth like this, this video is perfect for hyping it up. AND I really see that u love what you're doin, I love that.
Gonna try this on a 84 f150 i bought off marketplace thanks for the vid and tips
Good job man!
Yay awesome vid. I'm currently working on my bulllnose 84 bronco it's XLS full size
Upload soon we need more content
Nice truck! Recognize that road. Just got me the same model/year but exterior a little beat up. Some motivation for sure
Penetrol worked wonders on my bullnose
Looking forward to more videos. Bull nose ford's are bad ass
Those look like the Organ Mountains. I’m in Las Cruces, jumped on here for some info to help a friend restore the paint on his truck. Haha
It would definitely serve for most people's taste, just having a shinier looking rig than before, though most folks would opt to have the neighbor kid do the work for them. He works for Vapes & Video games, not real life pursuits like house payments and vacations. Take care!
Looks great man keep it up 😅
looking good
totally gonna do this
The truck is looking good
Lightly spray the pad with water and use a good amount of compound and let the compound do its job. What you are doing is feeding the oil back in the paint...take your time!
Nice looking bullnose
On camera my view it looks like a brand new truck You don't see no scratches no blemishes nothing It literally looks like a brand new truck. But in person I'm sure it's much different.😮
Nice truck I have an 84 . Is that las cruces in the back ground. I live in El Paso.
Keep the original paint, awesome truck!
Hey yo im 16 my first car is this same truck model is there anything i should know abt it, its in perfect condition all the gauges work and it only has 10,000 miles the paint is a great red color and the ac works i learned how to use a manual fairly quickly and i love this truck
Assuming you’ve given up on the channel? Really enjoyed watching
I was wondering the same
Dude I just got a 86 and was really enjoying these video
@@zachthompson7849 I hate it when channels don’t atleast give a heads up when they’re done lol
@@coltoncaskey5781 dude it’s the worst. Like I was Happy to find this channel only to find out they haven’t posted in a months
Deming NM? I have a 86 with the same problem and will do that same thing you did my friend
We have somewhat similar channels "Ed Here" ! (the garage part) Enjoyed your content and subscribed!
Those are fenders quarter panels are on the rear sides
Ed, where did you go? I see this was the last update video. I need your help building my '80 F150.
Did you ever get the 94 351 donor motor in this truck??
RIP 🙏
A buff and polish made it look like a different truck. Not perfect but big improvement!
You don't want perfect on an old truck, you still want a few nicks and there for memories sake! :-}
L💋ve it !!! Better than it was, thats also my modohh. Better than it was is good enough for me, got other chit to get to. 😉
If some salesman put something he’s trying to peddle on my Bronco or my F150….um, he’d be running down the road thinking about career choices.
Theirs also a product called New Finish its a liquid
👍👊👍
U should add a 8 inch lift kit with 37s ASAP
8 inch ? Lmao that would look terrible. I think it looks great the way it is. Has a nice stance
@@leswhittekiend5716 he hasn’t responded to me I tink he likes low cars like the Mexicans cause he never responded no hait but I like a truck that has a bit of a rump and tall and thin/wide
Ok Joey C, here's my response. I'm not going to lift a 4x2. Even if I were, I'd have a hard time getting my old fat butt into a truck lifted that high. So, no, I won't be lifting this truck. Thanks for the comments though my friend. 🙂
@@BullnoseGarage thanks for response I love your dedication ❤️ I follow the channel and on the bullnose Facebook 👍🏼
@@BullnoseGarage any news vids coming man?
Lift it next vid it wants that more
He should idk why he be doin silly modys
Love the truck, I just watched all your videos today and it looks great. I'd drop the rear a little to even it out, just a thought.
You spent 30 minutes talking about your hood, but never explain the Baby Booties on your tires? I’m not going to ask…
You do not know how to buff sir
Always a buster🙄🙄
No shit Sherlock. He's said that many times but apparently you don't understand English. Not surprising.
The comment I was looking for lol I know there are peculiar techniques to buffing. But hey, if doing it 'improper' like this gets these results, not shabby.
I'd like to see the proper techniques, though, I think I've seen them employed before.
"hates fungus"😂😂
