It was created as a homage to the beautiful coastal city of Essaouira where my father was born and where he inherited his deep love for the sea. Essaouira is filled with the energy of the ‘Moussawine’, ancient guardian spirits of the ocean, evoked in different Gnaoua songs, such as this song. Gnaoua is a form of storytelling and also therapy.
