- If you are planning on visiting the Baltics, then I suggest starting with Vilnius Lithuania and working your way up to Estonia. I was planning on spending one day in Vilnius, so this is the BEST way to see all the highlights and still be able to eat incredibly authentic food along the way.

Hi! Welcome to the Culture Trekking Community! My name is Janiel a story collector that tries to inspire you on the inside to better explore the outside through cultural connection and sustainable adventures. I am a dog mum to Zoey (a Cockapoo) and Finnegan (a Boxer), we take lots of road trips through Utah (my home state), and they are my happy place. If you are someone who likes to leave the world a little better no matter where you step into it, I would LOVE to have you join the community!
Have you ever been to Lithuania? Would you try pig ears? What is the craziest thing you have eaten while abroad?
You definitely overreacted trying pigs ears. It's not that bad. Actually not bad at all. Perfect beer snack. Smoky flavor, crunchy. Might be just a fact that you eating pigs ear that put you off. I mean... Everyone loves pork crackling (rinds) So it's the same thing, but more smoky and natural flavors
An interesting looking city and country to visit - well done.
Thank you! It really means so much hearing that with all the hours of work I put into these 🥰 cheers
yes - a lot of work but I hope you enjoy your trips. @@CultureTrekking
You covered everything, brilliant video
Oh my goodness thank you so much! That really means A LOT 🥲
how come this channel doesn't have more subscribers? That's beyond my belief
You just made me tear up a little bit. I work very hard to make these videos good, so despite the lower numbers this comment means everything to me. Thank you 🙏
Vilnius is very beautiful!!!
I loved it
That looks so amazing!! I am a museum nerd too, and love that you can actually touch things if you go!! The food looks amazing. And your face when you tried the pig ears 😂😂
Yeah! FELLOW MUSEUM NERDS UNITE! LOL! Um yeah, I still gag a little when people even mention it, LOL, 😂
Awesome video, Janiel!
Thank you! 😁 This one took me AWHILE to finally get out, but glad it was helpful!
What a cool city! I'd be all over those museums. The meals look hearty and warm.
Oh good! I’m so glad there is a fellow museum lover here! I find knowing the history of a place really gives me a better understanding of the people, culture and how things came to be. Gives a deeper meaning for sure. YES! It was COLD being there in November, but the meals help stave off the winter for sure
I been to that tower definitely!
Beautiful for sure
Really great footage and I appreciate the information. We are trekkers and anthropologists. So, we definitely feel your channel. Subed to see more.We are excited to be planning an April trip to the Balkans and Vilnius is 3-4 days of the trip, as a scouting/filming adventure for our World tour.. Thank you for the inspiration. Cheers to 2023 being amazing for both of our channels. Hope to see you out there. - Turtle and Bear
Oh YEAH! I’m so glad! Happy travels to you and your journey :) Amen to having a great year for both our channels 🍻
@@CultureTrekking Cheers.
Great video! I am born in Vilnius and I have to say that you are so well informed :)
OMG! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I really did an incredible amount of research and appreciate this comment so much!
Exploring during the winter is commendable. Nature is still sleeping, thus Vilnius looks a bit bleak and people from the lack of sunlight can be grumpy :D
I thought it was still beautiful though personally! I mean Europe has so much history and so many difference in culture. I agree that spring/summer/fall is great, BUT off season is a bit cheaper too and was there during Christmas so it was kinda fun to see all the decorations going up.
Great video! Felt like I got to know Vilnius a bit better.
P/S: Isn't the Shroud of Turin in Turin, Italy?
Lithuania 👍👍👍
Love it!
I all ready saw ur video and we r friends now😁🥰
Woohoo!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳
❤❤❤ your vid
Oh yeah!! THANK YOU! That truly means so much to hear that!
You can say about history of the three crosses of vilnius thanks
No problem
Boiled and fried cepelinai in one plate, what can be better...:)
Was soooo DELICIOUS! Potatoes in the states just aren’t the same now….sigh….
Cepelinai are healthier that chicken-fried steak.
VERY TRUE!
Can I ask do any of the churches have any canonnized nuns in their churches? If that is the right term for it?or any saints ?
Ya know, that’s a great question. I don’t know the answer tbh. Other than Saint Casimir and the rumor of the shroud of Turin - that’s all I know. I think when the Russian occupation happened a lot
Of things were destroyed within the churches
9:24 Cepelinai isn't unhealthy food, it's boiled potatoes with ground pork lol.
😂 Especially with how cold the winter is there I feel like Cepelinai is a basic food group! When in Lithuania in winter there is no such thing as cholesterol in food, lol. It was more the cracklins I was speaking about, but even then, you can't go wrong with bacon ;)
I salute you. I am interested to go and work in Lithuania. I want to help a little I want to do a job my country Bangladesh
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awe thank you so much!!
St. Casimir is buried at the Vilnius Cathedral and not at St. Casimir's Church.
Thank you! That bit was so confusing trying to keep track of where everyone was buried.
I majored in history and minored in international studies. I was impressed with your knowledge and impressions of Vilnius. The city is blossoming into such a beauty! It is 700 years young! Did you visit the renovated park, Bernardinu Sodas?
No I didn’t unfortunately :-( I really do want to go back, before I went everyone said “what’s in Lithuania except meat and potatoes” but honestly I REALLY loved it and found the history to be the most fascinating part, but clearly ‘people’ were grossly wrong about Vilnius
@@CultureTrekking Thanks for the reply. Lots of renovations in place. Praying it will all be restored to its glory! I hope one day the upper castle will be renovated!
А в Украину,когда приедешь?
О, я определенно планирую приехать в Украину! Не волнуйтесь!
@@CultureTrekking Ну теперь я буду спать спокойно.
Pig ears are delicious yet she couldn't eat it. LOL
I reeeeeaaally tried, soooo do I get points for at least trying? 😂
@@CultureTrekking OK I'll give you 1 point for trying.
Great video! Felt like I got to know Vilnius a bit better.
P/S: Isn't the Shroud of Turin in Turin, Italy?
Oh good! Glad u liked it!! Honestly I have no clue, I didn’t know it existed til it said something about it being here online, lol. BUT it WOULD make sense wouldn’t it?! Lol
