Still, a part of me remembers the original experience 20 years ago... While the graphics have been upgraded, I feel like they're just closer to how the game made me feel... It's difficult to explain... I guess a good comparison would be reading a good book and then seeing the film of it. It doesn't matter how flashy or well made the film is, the original book will still always have the best imagery.

Fun Fact; Toys for Bob made Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam as a launch game for the Wii back in the 2006, then was ported to PS2, DS and GBA, the DS version was ported by Vicarious Visions. I played the PS2 port and I found it very interesting.

Thats what you get when the whole studio involved is either former Neversoft staff or passionate gamers who experienced the original back in the day and fell in love with it. Just the right types of people working on this, gonna be good!
The whole studio involved was vicarious. They’ve only ever handled ports for tony hawk games. Neversofts code was used here and a few neversoft employees were consulted however the vast majority of this neither game or the studio was not made by never soft. Neversoft doesn’t exist anymore.

This is massive for me. I was a teen playing each Tony Hawk game as they came out. I spent hundreds of hours playing them. These games are up there with Goldeneye, Resident Evil 1,2&3, Silent Hill, Twisted Metal etc for me 🤙

I'm from Brazil, so the prospect of playing as Bob in a photorealistic rendition of the Rio skatepark from THPS 3 is amazing (gotta get those never-ending combos on the railing around the park to win the contest)

About the revert, Hawk said in an interview that he wanted to include it, as it feels like an integral part of THPS gameplay at this point, and he personally doesn't want to go back to the times when there was no revert. Obviously, I'm paraphrasing here, but it was something along those lines. Also, he mentioned that it's not gonna be the only trick from 3 and 4, there's gonna be a bunch of them.
Maybe I'll buy it then, I can't stand Tony hawk without a revert button. They better remake some of the levels then.

@@appal5052 Hell yeah man, I remember going to my friends house and his brother was ripping it apart on airport, doing a combo from one end to the other as wolverine. I was in such awe. I didn't know someone could be so good at the game, and I was stunned that he was playing as wolverine.. He told me about the cheat codes, and I went home and was addicted.. Pretty soon I was the one doing combos up and down airport, as darth maul lol

Also, I noticed something inside the Warehouse level. On the wall, there's a faded logo that reads 'Rensselaer Hydrant Co.'
That looks to be a direct reference to the locale that Vicarious Visions is from, being based in Albany, NY., and also a possible indirect nod to the defunct Renssalaer Valve Co., a former fire hydrant manufacturer that was based in Troy, NY, across the river from the northern regions of Albany.

@@Gigantemanatee Depends on what your priority is, if it's eye candy and graphics, and you don't mind higher latency from the more complex animations and textures, the newer one will be your choice, if gameplay is your priority, TH3+4 on Dolphin rendered in 4K is my recommendation, the gameplay is night & day better than the modern remakes, I would also recommend TH1+2 on DuckStation, also rendered in 4K, you can also get the incredible TH4 PC version and update it with the Party MOD patch to run flawlessly in Windows 7/8/10/11, this will give you the lowest latency and smoothest most enjoyable TH experience that beats any other version of TH, you can also run the game with Nvidia DSR which will render the game in up to 16K, which will look incredible and look better than TH:HD does (there is also AMD FSR that also has super resolution increased rendering fidelity).
I play TH4 on PC in 16K on a CRT monitor scaled to 1440p 4:3 on my Windows 7 gaming rig @ 120Hz, which runs at under 2ms of latency and feels incredible smooth to play, not to mention looks beautiful, and I play the original TH 1+2 games on my MiSTer FPGA console @ sub 1ms latency on my CRT TV in beautiful 240p.

Tony hawk in the HD version looks how he looks now but Tony Hawk in remake looks how he looked in the 90s.

Remember that in that time, Activision had the licensing for Spider-Man games exclusively. EA have Starwars exclusivity, and Sony owns Spider-Man so I doubt that one.

It's confirmed Ripper the skeleton from Powell Peralta will be at least one fictional character in the game. The rest of this is not confirmed, I'm only giving possibilities. This new THPS1+2 is owned by Activision, and here are some of their recently released or re-released games, these may or may not be legally possible:
Crash Bandicoot
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Transformers (Primal on a hover board?)
Spongebob
Spyro
Maybe some COD character could be in there.

Yes, but it also shows you that they love making money off you nostolgic suckers they don't even have to come up with new ideas, just remaster a old game and boom instant sales from nostolgic suckers.
Exactly. When a company does poorly with sales or is out of ideas, they go to remaster an older title, because old games are unbeatable. My second-favorite game of all time (right after Uncharted 2) is Medal of Honor on the PS1. Still play it regularly.

@@Jacobnelz44 Honestly. If it weren't for the PS3's backwards compatibility that makes it 3 consoles in 1, the PS1 would be my favorite console.

Awesome comparison dude 👍, The amount of details and technical aspects you are able to both describe and discuss is stuff even I would never notice, I’m legit hyped for this plus I’ve got someone new to introduce them to since I became a father last month, my fiancée is resting after the birth and we didn’t expect the physical strain it’s put on her so she’s stuck on the sofa watching me play games 😂, I was sat with our son watching the trailer and even though he’s only small his face was practically hypnotised to the screen so I think he’s already a fan of skateboarding, anyway can’t wait to play it and hopefully they might release 3 + 4 and maybe even both undergrounds?

The Summer Game Fest interview revealed that Create-A-Park will be included and you can share them online and download others. Also preordering allows you to get the warehouse level early and before the games release date.

Vicarious has said that if this does well - and if people want more, they will do more tony hawk remakes. THPS3 seems primed to be released as an expansion for this game - and THPS4 is also a possibility considering this new game will have trick extensions built in.

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 on GBA is actually my fave TH game, it is so morish and plays so well, I still play it to this day, would love a little remake of that with some added content for the Switch (or 3DS).

My mum used to work for Vicarious Visions, the developer of this new iteration of THPS. The company has been under new management for a few years now and I'm glad they took on this challenge. The company was always good to my mum and my family.

Pro Skater HD wasn’t too bad, but the overall physics and mechanics really held it back, not to mention the cut features.
The mechanics and cut features are what turned me off of HD after playing for 10 mins. Felt nothing like the original.

Acid drops are in 1, you just can’t hit a button to trigger them, and manuals didn’t come til 2 so it’s nice to see both reverts and manuals are in this remaster.

These were some of my favorite games of the era. Beat every single game in the era. Played thps1 demo for MONTHS until I got the game for xmas. This is day one for me.
Oh my, the good old days of getting a demo disc and rinsing it for all it’s worth because the release was still 3 to 6 month away.😵
Did this with so many games from that time, Tekkens, Wipeouts, even right up to OutRun2 / Panzer Orta on the OG Xbox.🙂

After the half-assed THPS HD and 5 fiascos, they're really going to have to go above and beyond to win people back. Good to see they got different devs this time around, and one that has proven they know how to resurrect old games and breathe new life into them. If there's anyone can bring back the THPS series, I believe it could be VV.

Skateboarding is making a comeback! Multiple games coming out and kids / teens on lockdown will wanna give skating a try and appreciate being able to be outside riding.
I don't play videogames anymore. Don't even have a television or system. But I grew up on this, and the Tony Hawk games. It was such a big influence in my childhood, and even now, even though I don't really skate anymore. Am I excited? Even though I don't think I'll get around to playing? Yes, absolutely.
The new one looks leagues better. Look at that lighting and realist environments. The previous one looked like someone slapped an instagram filter on it and called it a day

Hopefully it has an easy release and no launch issues. Hoping multiplayer doesn't go down the same day it drops. I used to play the later THPS games after the 2nd one once the PS2 came out and such, so to see aspects of those included in these re-masters is awesome. Stoked to try it out then it drops!
I am so insanely hyped for this. I'm stoked for level creator online as well. I wish it was coming to switch on launch, but since it's not I'm going out soon to buy an Xbox One so I can pre-order this and play it as soon as possible.
