Composing orchestral film music for a painting in Ableton Live // Art2Music Ep. 2

  • I compose a song from scratch based on a painting. The music has Danny Elfman / Tim Burton vibes. It's like a single-frame movie soundtrack. Using Ableton Live as the DAW and a few of the orchestral live packs. I'm also using some softsynths like Repro-1 and Massive. #art2music

Dont know if it is in your plans, but would be nice a video about music composition. You always bring different songs and aproaches to achieve. I usually come up with a nice synth timbre or a loop, but at the end i can't turn into a full track.

Made me think about that ferris wheel in chernobyl, so I google abandoned amusement parks. Omg they are many!
That painting is really nice though, and the music of course. This track sounds to me like film music. A dark Christmas tale maybe. At least fairy tailish.
I think this project of yours is great. Both because of what it is, making music to imagery/art, but also sympathetic as you expose and promote these artists.

    First: very good work!
Second: in my opinion, there is a little too much going on in the beginning. A little too less loneliness maybe. I know how hard it is to reduce though!
Third: you nailed all the feelings, but the happy middle section could, again, in my opinion, have been a little less obviously happy maybe.
Fourth: aye but still, very good work!

anyone have any advice for modulation and expression automation/envelopes workflow? Having trouble because clip automation and arrangement view automation are separated the way they are in ableton. It's so annoying to have to go to each midi clip's individual modulation automation to see/edit what I recorded. This workflow is slowing me down. It looks so much better and easier in Logic
