In some of reviews I differ with them,especially during initial times may be they couldn't get that regional emotion .. but since its been now 4+ years they are doing and they now got the wavelength of regional cinema,these days they are infact doing great justification in most reviews.For eg.I saw maaveeran after their reaction only, thought how could have I missed that.

Doctor was hands down one of the most wonderful movies and dark comedies I have watched. I was going through so much stress at the time and by the end of the movie I couldn't remember what stressed me..🎉
The comedy actor that you liked in this is Redin Kinsley. He was in Jailer. His best performance is in Nelson's 1st tamil Film - Kolamaavu Kokila@Coco) with Anirudh's music. It's a great musical dark comedy with Yogi Babu & Nayantara as the lead characters. It's equally good or maybe better than Doctor..

For those who are complaining about Vijay's role in ruining good movies ? Can you source me an accumulation of interview where the directors have stated that Vijay has changed the script of any of their movies? Have you guys checked their interview on Vijay? It's always positive.
Yep, even Lokesh mentioned in a recent interview that Vijay never changes the scripts. He just does as the director says. I think I've seen other interviews when other directors said that as well. People just like to blame him though I guess...
My assumption being a non vijay fan. If Vijay isnt changing the script then I think its all to do with Producers, Callsheet available, time given for script prep and mainly to satisfy the mass following for Vijay. I think this will never change.
Even its the same with AK. If you see recent films of AK, all they are trying to do is setup a full mass element and then force some shitty sentiments which never fits the script because they want to maintain AK as a gentleman in movies too. WHy that shit. Just take it as a script irrespective of actors and produce masterpiece.
Mysskin said vijay would change his script two to three times and his producer will change his script two and three times. That's why myskkin never did movie with vijay even after vijay asked him
For people who still believe that vijay doesn't change the script beast is a best example.
Goutham Menon once said that Bogan dropped due to the fact that Vijay wanted changes in story. Nelson once said in an interview (during Beast times) that it would be really good if big heroes don't interfere in the script modifications
Beast was made in pandemic time. He was asked to finish the project in a limited location so he choose the shopping mall heist concept so he can finish the entire project inside a mall set.
Damn. That curse of tamil cinema vijay forced scripy changes in beast and demanded over the top heroism and crap punch dialogues. That spoiled the potential of Nelson. Don't blame the pandemic and time constraints. Just call the spade a spade

Director Nelson itself a huge Vijay Fan and in Beast he got his first big opportunity to direct a huge star also his idol but due to covid and other time and production constraints he tried to do something different with vijay. But unfortunately he couldn't find the right balance in merging his style with a typical Vijay fim. For jailer he found the right trick with Rajinikanth and understands the fan's expectations also used his own style elements and delivered it

Maybe VELAIKARAN would be a good choice of movie to watch next which has Sivakarthikeyan. FaFa is an added cherry on top, with anirudh's musc, its a blast.

Infact no physical fights directly with FaFa, purely content driven.Till 1st half end screenplay was all good,but loses track post interval.. It goes unbelievably.. That entire chennai city switching lights on at 12.00AM and the song following was indeed cringy.. But for SK career,this movie was really a good attempt to break from normal commercial movies.Contentwise Even Hero movie is good,but unfortunately poor screenplay demolished a potential content😢 For them to watch, velaikaaran and Then hero I would say...

For SK... Watch "Remo" ( yes that's the movie name). That's his best as an "actor" so far in the lead role. Another highly underrated movie of his with a very important concept depicted about our current lifestyle is "Velaikkaran" also starring SK with Nayanthara. It has FAFA too! 😁Watch movie "3" to see him as a supporting character alongside Dhanush. ( Totally different yet good and underrated movie)

Have you watched Yogi Babu’s playing the title character MANDELA. Serious subject matter- ie. democracy in rural India- unusual and intriguing title; and its both funny and real.
Just when I thought Ramkumar Rao did really well in NEWTON; Yogi Babu in MANDELA killed it. Brilliant script!

Guys, when I "reviewed" this movie on Twitter (I have threads where I review every movie I see but in just 1 tweet each), I said exactly what you said: crazy how Nelson took the very serious topic of sex trafficking of little girls and made it a dark comedy, and that it works! I'm yet to see Nelson's first movie Coco (Coco is the shortenened name, I don't remember the full title) but I've seen the Hindi remake "Good Luck Jerry" released last year with Janhvi (Sridevi's daughter) in the main role, it's suspense/dark comedy and it's a good one too. Jailer is cool but so far I like Doctor better too!
I have 2 recommendations for you:
*Love Today* it's a 2023 Tamil comedy, you reacted to the trailer. Funny with a lot of inventive editing, great cast including Yogi Babu with a real role as opposed to just being the comedy relief.
*Maanaadu* released around the time of Doctor (2021), it's a time loop thriller/comedy. I think you might have seen the trailer too.

Watch Panchatantiram Kamal Hasan's movie. That is one of the funniest movies I have ever watched.
Awesome movie.. but I feel they will not get most of the jokes on that movie... crazy mohans brilliance was next level there, I think it's hard for non tamil speakers to get that movie completely

If you left 30 minutes into Beast, then sorry Rick and Korbin, you were never there to give it a fair chance. There were some solid action highlights that you missed out on.
Ignore everyone saying Vijay interfered in the scripts. Lokesh, Nelson, AR Murugadoss have confirmed several times that the best part of working with Vijay is that he's the only big Tamil star left that doesn't do that at all. That's a pathetic lie invented by his haters, so don't fall for it.
The real enemies of that movie were Sun Pictures, COVID and production interference.

The best tamil comedies are the Kamal Hassan - Crazy Mohan collaborations but I don't know if you are ready, given the heavy use of tamil wordplay. Panchathanthiram is my personal fav

Do watch the movie Deiva Thirumagal, it's one of Vikram's best acting jobs and won a lot of awards. It's an emotional and wholesome movie, one of my favourites.

Movie Alert : Watch Kolamavu Kokila ASAP Yogi Babu Kind of Lead in that movie so it's also as funny as this one. Dark humour Is Nelson's Strong Forte but Beast bombed because of Vijay's stardom Nelson kind of stuck in it whether doing a movie for Vijay and his fans or movie that makes him satisfied as writer and director but in the end it did not make anyone happy but with the learning of Beast he rectified that in Jailer and gives perfect blend of movie for the fan and common audience 😊
Jailer is nothing when compared to doctor. Doctor has very intelligent writing and making.

Beast failed because of many reasons. Nelson himself said he didn't do justification in his writing.. It's still commercially successful due to Vijay Star power..
Kolamaavu Kokila is another dark comedy movie, more grounded. Nayanthara is the main Lead. A Woman being the lead and a dark comedy which is very rare in Tamil Cinema, a very different combo became a huge hit.. It's definitely worth a review or watcha long if you have the time for it..
You should watch kolamavu kokila(nayanthara) by Nelson and nanum rowdy than movie (Vijay sethupathi, nayanthara) both are fun movies to watch
13:00 Vijay happened Korbin, Vijay. Just like Lokesh said that Master was not 100% his movie, Nelson also had to make adjustments to his style of directing because of Vijay.

What changes Vijay could have made with Beast? Whatever Nelson thought would work terribly misfired in Beast...The thing is AR Murgadoss was supposed to direct after Master but the script didn't workout with the production house and Vijay had to do go ahead with Nelson (Maybe Nelson needed more time for the script development)
And I don't blame Nelson too, bad films can happen sometimes...With Beast he had to work with a big scale and Star with limited time for the 1st time in his career (The pressure could have got to him)
I don't understand why people blame Vijay for changing the script when the movie doesn't go well...Because I have never heard people say that when movies of Ajith, Suriya, Rajini etc isn't good.

The problem with Beast was that for the first time Nelson was working with a Big Star and Big production company. Nelson's formula is Team Work which can be clearly seen in Kolamavu Kokila, Doctor, Jailer. While Beast however, the movie focused mainly on the Star's mass presence and there are rumours that Vijay or Sun Pictures made tweaks in his script for the Star's mass appeal. Due to which the movie crumbled

Vijay was ready to change the style of his movies. You have no idea how regressive his fan base and journalists are in Tamil cinema. It's not that easy to come out of mainstream maslala shit. It's essentially a transition.
That's why he teamed up with Lokesh Kanagaraj for Master. It was openly known that it's 50/50 Vj/Loki. Then again, he collaborated with Nelson, he was open to change. But unfortunately, that didn't work out. These 2 movies made profits but with mixed reviews.
So he went back to his old ways (cringe shit Vaarisu) Then again willing to completely surrender under Loki's vision. Leo is justified to be a character origin story.
Now he is doing a movie with Venkat Prabhu who is known for his quirky comedy entertainers and creativity. Hope this works out.
