- If you travel long enough it's bound to happen... ONE OF YOU GETS HURT! This episode and this trip almost didn't happen. Owen was in so much pain from hurting his back that we almost turned around and called it off. But we soldiered on. And boy are we glad we did.
Not only did we get to see all the great things at Tallulah Gorge State Park in Georgia, Lynn also got a real world lesson in doing everything when you're camping. Since Owen could hardly move the first 2 days she had to literally take care of him and do everything needed to setup camp and keep things going with the Ekko.
She was and IS a TROOPER!

Lost my husband Four months ago, lucky me, was married for 47 years to the best mechanic and patient guy who taught me so much about being independent. Hooking and unhooking the 5th wheel etc. backing up. Driving across country towing through all kinds of weather and terrain, several times, was the best education available for self con-confidence to do it alone. Sure miss him, but am learning to navigate a solo life out there. We girls sometimes feel intimidated by it all, but a self confident person who is determined will not have any serious complications. Take the initial steps, and just keep at it. Good for you Lynne, for taking on what you usually watch Owen doing. I bet he is feeling better too, knowing he can depend on you if he is unable to “do it all.” You guys set a good example about being a team out there, safe travel always 🙋🏼♀️🚗🇺🇸👍
And you are an inspiration. So sorry for your loss although know you are never alone.
♥️
Judy you have our hearts! (that's something we tell our grandchildren all the time)... but it's true. Come down and ride along with us one day soon. And if Owen's hurt you can empty the cassette toilet. 😂
Thank you, and if ever in Michigan, my yard is yours. ❤️
In 2017 my better half had two mini strokes and then cancer. For two years my mechanically inclined retired manufacturing engineer hubby could barely get out of the lazy boy. We moved to a home, that needed renovated, during his convalescence period. I had to do it all. Saw, put down flooring, patch drywall, move cabinets, do trim, paint...you name it and I likely tackled it. The day hubby went out and repaied a broken deck board was the day I knew we had turned a corner. You're doing a great job of stepping in Lynne. Praying Owen's back is better soon!
Sounds like you did a lot better job of stepping up… it is very empowering… Good for you. I’m glad to her your husband has turned the corner. Thanks so much for sharing your story.
I suffered from reoccurring back pain when I was younger. Then in my 40's I went to a chiropractor. He diagnosed it as a herniated disc. The orthopedic surgeon wanted to operate, but it chose to try the less invasive chiropractic option. I eventually got some relief from the constant pain. But what changed my life was some simple advice from the chiropractor. He said, "if all my patients stretched, exercised, and built their core strength, I would be out of business". This was 30 years ago. I have been exercising ever since, and I have never had an issue with my back since.
I hope you're feeling better now. We enjoy your videos very much.
Thanks for sharing them with us.
Frank that's such great advice. I'm an idiot about that too. I have good intentions but as soon as I start feeling great again I concentrate on other things. I'll try to do better this time.
So sorry about Owen's back! My husband and I were just discussing how I need to be more prepared to "take over" if something were to happen to him. We're making it a point to do this as we head out in our Travato next week. Big Sur...here we come! Hope you all are feeling fine now. We have been watching your videos for several years now and look forward to each Sunday! Thank you!
Aaaaahhh... Big Sur!... you dogs! So jealous! Glad you've been with us for so long. It does make sense to plan for emergencies by cross training when you can. Hope you have a great time in your T.
Take it easy, Owen, we ain’t getting any younger! Atta-Girl, Lynn!!
Thanks John, the hard part it trying to keep Owen down long enough to recover.
I can't help but lol thinking of Chili eating and tight quarters.
All i see in my head is Blazing Saddles camp fire scene 🤠
HaHa. Owen loves that movie.
Get well soon, Owen and good on you, Lynn!
Thanks for your comment and we appreciate you watching.
Lynn and Maggie on the swing was adorable. Sorry about your back.
Maggie is such a trooper, she will do anything.
Maggie in the swing 😂😂 glad your back feels better. Happens to the best of us.
Maggie will do anything… she’s a trooper.
You are a amazing girl Lynn, you got a lot of skills !!! Owen Owen Owen be careful !!
Owen you are one lucky man with such a beautiful wife and full of talent !! Love video and everything about it !!! As always BS & BK & BC !!!!
Thank you Larry for your kind comment. We so appreciate you following along.
Many years ago my back was “locked” up. Flat on floor fetel position. Surgery was planned. Wife(smarter than me) suggested try chiropractor b-4 the knife.40 years later- no surgery and back is fine. Chiropractor worked wonders. 83 years old now and wife is still smarter!🙏
So glad your wife was smarter. I would trying anything b-4 a knife. I think a visit to the Chiropractor is in our future. Thanks for the suggestion.
X rays should be taken first to rule out something other than a subluxation. After my experience- - -my son went to Life College and is now a Dr of Chiropractic.
Oh Tallulah Gorge ❤
We’ve got a few years on ya but haven’t given up either. The sad reality of being the “old” campers is that it happens. Somehow the pain is lessened when we can still get out there. Sure beats being couped at home. We used to do the entire gorge hike over and over but these days it’s always a game time decision of our bodies give us the ok. Last Christmas Santa brought a couple walking sticks. Not sure if they are just security or if it’s mind over matter but they live in the Airstream on every trip. T wouldn’t say they’re necessary but couple of times I was happy to have the help after we went a bit too far. Kinda like having the throttle on the e bikes. Whatever it takes to keep us going.
Proud of you, Lynn but not surprised. Keep counting the blessings and everything falls into place. The most precious blessing is that we still have our spouses to accompany us on these journeys. Fir that I’m ever grateful. Safe travels, enjoy Georgia. 🔥
We always count our blessings and I agree having Owen is the one I’m most thankful for. I so enjoyed your comment… thank you so much for sharing. Owen’s been using his walking stick too, actually the other day we meet another man on a trail that was in worse shape than Owen and he ended up giving that man his stick but he can have mine for now until we can buy another.
Sorry your back was hurting you Owen. Hope it’s feeling better. Lynn you did great helping Owen out. Praying for his back to heal.
Glad your feeling better Owen and Lynn you did an awesome job. Always good to learn new things. 😉
You are so right… “it is always good to learn new things”
Lovely episode! That is a lovely campground you stayed at. I hope Owen is better. Thanks for still taking us along, even when you don't feel good and for Lynn's being brave to go on a hike with just us! My TV is next to a window, and in the beginning of the video when Maggie jumped out of the van, my Freya jumped up and ran to the window as if Maggie jumped out of it! Have a great week! Peace & Prayers.
Love, love, love the pic you sent!!!!!! Freya is special... actually so are you. One day we need to let those pups and us meet in person. ❤️
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle I surely hope to meet you guys IRL one day. You give me such encouragement. Thank you!!
Hope your back is feeling better, Owen! We were in a similar situation recently during our first long trip East w our Revel. We were in Maryland when I fell over the handlebars of my bike and landed on my palms w my elbows locked. I fractured the radial bones in both my arms! Danny quickly learned how much I actually do during our travels. We were a looong way from Wisconsin! Recovery will take weeks, even months at 63. At least I don’t need casts…and I still can lift my coffee mug…and my cocktail glass! 😁
Wow, I think you win… that sounds bad. I didn’t realize how much Owen did either. I hope you are feeling better, but good to hear it didn’t affect your coffee and cocktails.
So sorry Owen was not doing good. By the look Lynn you 💪🏻 awesome and rocked it this video was a good reminder for us to be ready to be able to do both jobs 🌞 happy tails 🐶
I should have learned all this stuff a long time ago. It’s not hard… we just always have our own task we do. It is good to switch it up so both can learn the other’s task.
Great video, just goes to show both partners need to know how to do everything. Lynn held up her end of the deal. Well done! And that park was beautiful.
So very true. It took Owen getting hurt to make us see how important it is for us both to know how to do each other’s chores. Thanks for watching.
My husband is 74, and has less patience teaching me things I could benefit from his knowledge and expertise. He is very mechanically inclined. I am not but have learned a lot from him. Now our life has changed to other things I need to know but he doesn’t want to teach me. I suppose I will figure it out if need be.😊
I think we all get use to doing things ourselves and sometimes it’s easier just to do it instead of taking the time to teach or show someone else how to do it. It could have been way worse than it was, I was lucky that Owen was able to show me how to do things. I think we are all stronger than we think and we do what is needed when the time comes. Thanks for sharing.
Get well soon, Owen! Tallulah Gorge is Beautiful. Thanks!
Thank you!
Thank you! We appreciate you watching. G
Fall colors are beautiful! Chili looks yummy! It's defintely getting chili weather! You did a great job Lynn! Fun watching Maggie chasing the tennis ball!
Hi Sandra! That chili was the best! Yes, give Maggie a ball for a few minutes and she's in heaven. But after 5 minutes she'll just snuggle with it.
Lynn you dud a great job with hooking up the kitchen top outside and with the solo fire and cooking the chili. Great idea to have chili. Owen was happy because he the happy dance. I love chili too! Chili is good on cold winters night or a fall night. Love the leaves how they turned color. Lynn you dud great doing the hike by yourself. Love that’s song at the end. Hope Owens back gets better. See you both soon!
I have some serious lumbar issues and have found it useful to have had an MRI done so that Doctors can more thoroughly determine what is going on with my spine . It would be useful to know what it is more specifically and if there is nerve damage, etc. It is wise to know before one makes treatment decisions that could be contraindicated.
Thank you for the very wise suggestion.
Hi Owen and Lynn
It was a thrill meeting you at Tallulah. You are as nice and genuine in person as you are in your videos, which we love to watch. Owen hope your back is feeling better. Diane, Randy and Jeffrey.
It was so great meeting you guys. I wish we could have spent more time together.
Me too
That lil person big person swing was a new one for me. Maggie is a good sport😂
Especially liked that song near the end about last of September.
Park looked stunning. You all get better soon.
Maggie was a good sport on the swing. She’s the best.
I know how you feel Owen. My back is out again this week. It can be a killer brother. Great job Lynn. Cheers 😙🥂😘 Hi Maggie!!!
I hope your back feels better soon. Don’t do what Owen did and think he’s feeling better and then hurt it again. Cheers to you.
Another great video! I enjoyed seeing Maggy in that swing but i definitely think she enjoys walking better. Hope you feel better Owen!
Maggie does like walking better that swinging. But she will do just about anything without complaining.
Great video. Get well Owen. Way to go Lynn.
Thanks, we appreciate you watching.
Lynn, you’re one tough cookie and an inspiration. Thanks for sharing this experience. Beautiful video. Owen, I am praying for your swift recovery
Thank you so much!
sweet video.. good on you Lynn for handling everything! that chili looked good too. Sweet when Maggie finally spied the ball behind her - you could see her excitement! take care Owen... rest your back enough. prayers friends..
Thanks so much for your comment, it is much appreciated.
I absolutely loved this vid ! And Maggie is soo cute with the ball , it filled her with so much joy happy happy pup 🐶 💖
Thank you so much. We are glad you enjoyed watching Maggie with the ball… it just brings a smile to our face when she is so happy.
You go girl. Gives Owen a rest.
Now I need a rest. 🤣
Great job Lynn! Hope your back feels better soon Owen. Hugs to Maggie!
Thank you Mary, we appreciate your comment.
So sorry about your back Owen, and hopefully doing better. Wow!! Girl power, lol. Nice job Lynn. That's something not expected, but things happen, great you were able to do those tasks. Lynn please be careful hiking alone. You're definitely capable, but like Owen, things happen fast. A couple from our home town fell at that park, and were severely injured, with hospital stays. It is a beautiful park, especially in the fall. If you're ever near Andersonville, there's a nice RV park ran by the county, walkable to the town, Drummer boy Museum, cute town square. Lk Meriwether near Woodbury, Rivers End Tybee Island, and Blythe campground Brunswick are all nice. Sry so long. Enjoyed, and safe travels. 🙂👍
Thanks for all the great park suggestions. I do try to be careful but you are correct things can happen without notice. Sorry to hear about your friends.
Great job Lynn! Sorry to hear about your back, Owen! Hope you feel better soon! Maggie was so cute playing ball and riding in the swing!
She didn't like getting in the swing but once in it she was fine with the swinging. Thanks for always having our back... even when it's hurting.
Good job Lynn! Love your attitudes ❤ Good lesson about practicing all “duties”. I’m going to do outside tasks today.
Let us know how it goes! Rocky can trade off for inside things too. 😂
Beautiful state park!!! Feel better Owen🙏🏻🙏🏻. Love you Maggie 🥰🥰🥰. Lynn you are a trouper 👍🏻👍🏻🥰
Thank you so much, we appreciate your comment.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 prayers for your back, Owen to heal up completely.
Thank you so much.
We recently found your channel with the title of Helen Ga. We live 5 miles from that cute town. We are really enjoying your videos, you are both real, down to earth folks like us. Looking forward to seeing many more of your travels.
Well that's pretty cool! I'd weigh 400 pounds if I lived that close to that bakery. 😂
Owen, so sorry about your back & I hope it is feeling better now! Lynn, you rock! Love how you stepped right in & learned how to do everything. Also loved that you went on your hikes even though Owen wasn’t able to accompany you. I wouldn’t have thought to do that if my hubby was down. You inspired me to do so if we are ever in the same type of scenario! It’s moments like this that make y’all my very favorite campers to watch. Never a dull moment with y’all! 😄
Thank you Karen for your kind and inspiring comment. It was hard to leave Owen and go on those hikes but he was working so I didn’t feel too bad, and he is so understating and wanted me to be able to go. Thanks so much for watching.
Good to know that Georgia state parks offer a senior discount We know Tennessee does not sure of any others
They do offer a senior’s discount but there is no way to request it online so you have to ask when you check into your campsite. Thanks for watching.
So fun watching this today, when we were just there 4 days ago. We did the 620 steps to the suspension bridge. Loved that park! Hopefully you guys can go back when everyone is well and do it together.
Lynn did the 620 steps too... but I (Owen) was hurting too much to do that. It sure is awesome though isn't it?
If I had not had to cancel my trip to GA and AL, I would have been checking in that same park that same day. I am so bummed to miss the chance to meet y'all. Thank you for glimpses of what I missed.
Sorry you had to cancel your trip. We would have loved to meet you.
Hope your back is feeling better very soon Owen. That must have been some happy dance you did to make it feel that bad! Just teasing. Lynn, I think you did a great job of taking care of Owen, the rig and filming too! I have been learning about caring for and operating our Winnebago Navion. Just in case, ya never know. Take care and have fun!
I think this has taught us a very valuable lesson. I just glad Owen was able to teach me. Thanks for watching.
Hope everything is better. Back pain will wear you out. We have talked about cross training but haven't done anything about it. We need to learn from you two. Happy tails and safe pain free travels.
Would have been better to train her when I could move around without back pain but I guess it's never too late. You are right... it's like a dull aching pain in the $@$@ that's just a little bit north of that. Almost better these days though. Hope you guys are good.
Hey Owen....you need to share the chores more often because Lynn did awesome job. Beautiful time to be out in a beautiful park...Happy Trails 🐕
Thanks Michael. But that means I need to do her chores too and I'm not as qualified for those... my level of clean is not up to her standards I'm afraid. We make a good team but I'm glad she could head out on her own now and feel like she could safely handle all the chores with the van.
Getting old definitely has its perks. I just wish our bodies held out better. We're picking up our Casita in February and have reservations at Tallulah in May. Thanks for giving us a preview of that beautiful state park. New subbie.
Awesome. Welcome and thanks for subbing and following our journey. You and your beautiful Casita will love it there.
We live in Akron, Oh., and for our repeat trips to Acadia NP and Tampa we have a Chiropractor in both places to help with back trouble if needed. We hunt one down on other trips if need be. I’m so glad Owen is feeling better☺
We came close to making an appointment for Owen too. He's getting much better these days but that's when he stops being careful and hurts it again.
Owen, Hope you are feeling better now. What a gorgeous State Park! Loved all the music in this video. Lynn, you did a great job capturing the beauty of this park as well as handling all the camping site chores. Yes, we all need to know each other’s jobs in cases of injury or illness. Hope to run into you around a campground someday. If you ever come to Texas, south of DFW via I35 (either E or W), give us a heads up.
Hi Liz. You'll hear us in the blowing the horn in your driveway one day. 😂. Actually we will reach out if we're rolling nearby and are not pressed for time to get through TX as is usually the case (except last winter). BTW, remind us when you see we're heading west. Thanks for the love.
We kind of have the opposite situation here. When I started playing this video, my husband said to me that HE needs to learn the things that I do, in case something happened to me. I was the one who researched and learned all I could about our Class B Hymer before we bought it. I know all the intricacies of its systems - but I still don't like backing up. 🙂
It is good for both people to know how to do the other’s chores. I’m not good a backing at all.
Proud of both of you for getting out there despite the temporary change of your back. Lin I’m very proud of Lynn We’re going for that walk by herself, not even taking Maggie😊. I know sometimes it could be hard for women to take care of themselves while taking care of someone else. Thank you for being such a wonderful example of self-care both of you. Your obvious love and caring for each other is an inspiration. Hugs and kisses to Maggie! 🤗
I like you name. Thanks for the inspiring comment. I didn’t take Maggie on the hike because dogs are not allowed on the steps going down to the bridge and I do feel bad for not taking her sometimes… but it’s really hard to get any type of exercise when she wants to stop and smell of everything so I do leave her sometimes, but I try to make up for it.
We just purchased a pop-up camper not 2 months ago. Hubby has a Doctor's appt to diagnose his body wide joint pain. I'm going to have to step up and get the simple things done to ease his pain. I'm adding this beautiful campground to places we are going to go.
We all do what we can to help each other out when it’s needed. It’s really sweet you are willing to step up and help so you can keep doing what you love.
Feel better, I’ve dealt with back issues most of my adult life, I find that daily stretches and walking (hiking) daily works best to keep me loose.
Great advice! I'm stretching every day now! Thanks.
Love that swing set design. Wish they had that when my boy was a baby.
I love the swing set distinct too.
Here’s hoping you got some PT for your back and are feeling better. When backs seize, it’s not fun. Lynn you did a great job.
The back it getting better, we are taking it easy and we will get a chiropractor appointment when we get come. Thanks so much for watching.
Awwww... Sorry about your back. That can't be fun!! We were just there this past Sunday.. It's such a beautiful ..Let us know if you need anything. We're about 1 hr south of there.
Thank you… you are very kind.
Glad your back is somewhat better. I say somewhat as I've a bad back and you never know when the next episode will come along. A bad back has changed my life. I always saw myself as the 90-year-old lady hiking in the mountains. Uneven surfaces, and up and down definitely has its challenges. Lynn, I had no doubt you could do what you do. Owen is like my husband and is a take charge type. I do the "girl stuff" but he loves the RV stuff. But he has a bad back too so when RVing, we must stay flexible. The gorge looks beautiful. And Maggie girl, you stop chewing on your tail! 😀
Thanks Barbara. He's a little better these days but like you said that's when the next "surprise" happens. Glad you're with us in spirit!
Owen, I hope your back gets to feeling better. My brother suffers from the same thing. I can literally sometimes see him walking crooked, that’s how bad it gets! Get well soon!
Thank you! I hurts me to see me in the videos walking crooked. Visual evidence that I'm becoming an old man.
Admire you guys so much.
Hope you can get some back relief. I have same problem. But reminded to use back brace when walking to see if helps.
I've been wearing it every day since then. I'm a little better these days but reminded that I'm just one weird twist or turn from that shooting pain again. Sorry it hits you too. Thanks for the kind words!
Owen’s been using his back brace and it has been helping.
Welcome to my home state be nice to get your perspective on our parks here. That chili is almost the same as my chili recipe easy fast and tasty I throw in ritz crackers instead of corn chips. Thanks for carrying us along, good videos good people. Safe travels
We love your GA State Parks. Like every state we visit some are showing a little age but many have really modern updates. Can't get enough of them but after a month of looping around GA maybe we will for a while. So where's your favorite place to eat in all of GA?
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle red top mountain state park at lake atltoona
Awww, man! I hate that you hurt your back, Owen. Been there, done that myself. No fun - at all. Ended up having surgery for a herniated disk at L-5 that did not resolve on its own. I hope by now you are much improved and back to yourself! If it is still paining you, do not hesitate to get it checked to find out exactly what you’re dealing with. My surgery bought me about 10 years of freedom from back pain. So there’s that. We have been several places in North Georgia and love it in the fall. Blue Ridge is a favorite town and Carrol’s BarBQue is swoon-worthy! Hope your next installment finds you much better and on the mend. Congrats to Lynn for stepping up, fearless to do what had to be done, but I’m betting she will more than happy to share those duties after you are well again! Hugs….from NW Florida
To say we love you would be an understatement. Can't remember ever reading one of your comments and not smiling! Hope you know how much that means to us! BTW, Owen is almost back to normal... still a little pain every other day or so. This is the time when he'll do something stupid and hurt it again. Thanks for loving us!
Hey, sweet friends! I am so sorry about Owen's back. Lynn: YOU ARE THE WOMAN!!!! I am so proud of you! I have often thought I need to learn how to do Mike's part of setting up and breaking down so in case something happened (or if we just wanted to do a ladies' campout sometime). You did an incredible job and I'm glad Owen in feeling some better, if not completely back to 100%, yet. Talluluah Gorge its a really pretty place. Sadie loses her ball in the leaves, too! My sweet Stanly man has developed congestive heart failure and can't run any more. The swing was so cool! This has been such a gorgeous Fall! We're camping with the grands tomorrow and s'mores are in our future! Love to you, guys, from SC. Stay safe out there. Hoping to see you along the way! Jane ❤🙏
This as taught us both a valuable lesson… I’m just glad Owen was able to teach me. It could have been worse if I had to figure it out on my own. Ladies camp out sounds good. I hope you had fun with the grands. Much love!
Sometimes it pays to be old. If Owen is well enough to do the happy dance, he should be good enough to go on the South Trail. Hope he's doing better.
Being old is better than the alternative. Owen’s happy dance is not match for the South Rim Trail… hiking to the suspension bridge.
So glad Owens back is better. And… he could still do the happy dance. Lol. Wow how this video hit home with me. I’m a young 70 year old and the husband is 65. We bought a small 26 foot motor home two years ago because his health was declining and he no longer could handle our pull type camper. He had said this way if something were to happen I could manage the motor home. Well little did we know within a year he suffered a stroke. Almost exactly to the day a year later (April 2022) he was diagnosed with breast cancer. He no longer can drive , walks with a walker and cannot do any of the things he use to do. Welcome to retirement. But…. You are so right , do not give up !! I can do whatever needs to be done with our unit. Things I never dreamed I could handle or would ever have to. We are still going and we are enjoying to the fullest that we can. It certainly is challenging but we are still making beautiful memories ❤. Love and enjoy your videos. I have a channel Mark and Diana Our Journey but haven’t learned yet how to do it like you do but I’m going to try one at some point. It’s a good way to hopefully always have your memories there. Don’t even really know you guys but love you and little Maggie too. We have two fur babies also.
What an inspiring comment thanks so much for sharing. I so glad you didn’t give up and you are still making wonderful memories. That is why we started our channel, it is a great way to capture your travels. We hope you meet you guys on the road one day. We will check out your channel. Safe travels and never give up.
Add small battery leaf blower to your storage.
We have room for one and that has been mentioned. Love to find one that works with our Dewalt batteries.
Hope your back is better soon.
Thank you!
Sorry to hear Owen is hurting. Prayers for swift recovery from whatever is the cause. Love the fall colors and water feature., Lynn you’re a trooper as Owen said! Oh and poor Maggie! Hope tail will stop causing her grief! Love the music about the September leaves….could you share the name and artist?💗🙏
Good job Lynn! I think the part I would be nervous about would be hiking alone. My husband usually takes the reigns on that. I'm not as directionally sound and sometimes find myself going in circles🙃. It's good to be put in the position of having to do it to build confidence. P.S. I'm pet sitting for my neighbors pup and she looks just like Maggie. She's a sweetheart too! 🐶
I feel more comfortable hiking if I can following the directions on the app AllTrails, also when I hike by myself I prefer to hike a well traveled trail.
Hope Owen's back is feeling much better! I know how you feel having to walk alone Lynn. My partners got back issues (surgery set for Dec) and I've had to do many walks/hikes on my own.
Thanks for being there with me in spirit!
Here is Appalachia KY, we leave our chili as is without any toppings, and make a peanut butter/honey (or pancake syrup whichever available) sandwich to dip in the chili
Thanks for sharing how you eat your chili. Owen makes peanut butter, butter and syrup that he eats with sandwich bread, it’s something his grandfather use to eat. We’ll have to make into a sandwich and try it with our chili.
Got worried when I read the title of this video. Had to watch it right away. Glad you are doing better now.
Honestly, you walk more with your back hurt than I do any day! You even did a short happy dance!
BTW... you got $24 back because you are both so WONDERFUL, not because you're old! So there!
And Owen... next time let Lynn drive. She obviously takes care of everything just fine! There you go.
Have a wonderful rest of trip and as always... be seeing you!
She drives great guys. And I've grown to love her driving the Ekko too. Sorry if we scared you... but glad you and your cool Embassy are with us. B C'ing you 2.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle One day we'll meet and maybe tour each others rides! And do a happy dance together too! 😆
Had a similar problem in March before a 5 month trip starting in May so I went to a Chiropractor. His team got me back on my feet and doing great. Suggest you try that.
Glad that saved it for you. Owen's a cheapskate when it comes to doctors or anything really other than technology. I suggested that be he said he'd get a little better each day... and so far he has. Thanks for the great advice and for being with us.
The dog has the fetch part down - it is the return part that seems challenging. Our Westie has a similar issue. Oh well…
Maggie has never had the bring it back part down. It's fun to watch her and if you stop playing the game she'll just snuggle with the ball. 😂
He is walking a little kitty wumpus.
Yes he is. I haven’t heard that phrase in a while.
Just found your channel. I know just how you feel, I've got a bad back too. We are trying to go full-time, but getting rid of stuff is the hard part. Maybe we'll meet in one of the parks close by. We live in Mobile Al. Great video.👍
Good luck going full-time and with your back. Getting rid of stuff is so hard… we have been down sizing and there are just some things that are hard to part with. We hope to meet you on the road sometime.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle 👍
Juanita’s says that when I hurt my back, we are going HOME! She isn’t going to be like Lynn! Another great video! ❤️ david and Juanita
Trust me we thought long and hard about doing just that. We almost turned around after 2 hours but decided to grin and bear it... and there hasn't been a lot of grinning since then. But next Thursday... I'll be grinning! 😂
I thought I had seen everything in the east worth seeing from Maine to Key West. I was wrong. Never been to this place.
We think that sometimes! But then we stop at another place and wham!... another jewel. They're everywhere... just have to hit them at the right time and with the right frame of mind! Hope you're well these days!
Loved the video ! Did you make the board in your outdoor kitchen sink area? That looks a lot better when cooking outside then having the “sink”
Owen did make the board on the outdoor kitchen. We just took a cutting board and drilled four holes underneath the metal area and attached with wood screws. So easy and so much more functional for us.
What a gorgeous place! You’re absolutely right - it’s important that both people know how to do things. Never know when something can happen to prevent someone from doing what they usually do rving and the other person has no idea how to do those things. Sweet Maggie in that kiddie swing was so cute. The leaves were so beautiful - hope you were able to enjoy all those magnificent colors. Hope your back is much better Owen. Did you have a TENS unit with you on your trip? My TENS unit makes all the difference in the world, if I have back pain. It helps to loosen the locked/tight area(s) and then I can stretch it out, the blood flows better to the injured area(s), and healing is so much quicker for me. Take good care of yourselves. Safe travels & stay well!
Hi Lis. This time the Tens unit seemed to aggravate it instead of helping. I used it for 2 nights and it just didn't help like it had before. Maybe it was me not placing it correctly. That's always a guess for me,.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle So sorry to heart that Owen. I always try to address the inflammation first - with ice and Arnica gel at least 3 to 4 times per day. After a couple days I will use my TENS unit and continue using the Arnica gel. You do have to place the TENS correctly and that takes practice, and perhaps start with lower frequency and then build up to a higher level to get that healing blood moving. Hope you’ll be feeling better very soon.
Hope you’re feeling better Owen. Lynn is a fast learner.
It’s good have someone there to tell you how things need to be done. Thanks for watching.
Good lesson. I am going to have my husband teach me hook up and disconnect on our snowbird trip this winter.
It is a good thing to know just in case. But I’ll have to keep doing it or I’ll forget how. Thanks for watching.
Love the video. We're heading to Tallulah Gorge State Park pretty soon and chili is on our menu 😋.
I have two questions for you if that's okay.
1. What dates were you there. I'm wondering, and hoping, if we will still have some fall colors in the trees while we are there.
2. Is there a path to go under the bridge to go over to the beach area or are we going to have to cross the busy road? The Shortline Trail is over there and we want to take the ebikes and ride in that area but don't want to cross the busy highway.
I hope Owen's back gets well soon. Love the channel.
We were at Tullulah November 1-3. I’m sure we missed the peak leaf season but it was still pretty. Yes there is a trail to go under the busy highway to the beach area, when you take the south rim trail you walk on the busy bridge and on the other side you can go under the bridge to the beach area. Not very far from the campground at all.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle Thank you very much. We can't wait to go.
I like yall
Nothing worse than back pain. 😮 Getting old sucks.
I'd usually say it beats the alternative Debbie, but you know what... there were a few days... naaa... it beats the alternative. Glad you're back home safely. See you guys again in a few months. Tell my taller than me, older than me and wiser than me brother I said "I'd trade my dog for you... " 😂
Glad you are better
Best to learn new things when Owen can supervise.
Might want to watch YT channel Bob and Brad the best physical therapists on the internet. Gentle moves are the best.
Owen watches Bob and Brad, they are great. I do feel lucky that Owen is able to teach and supervise while I’m learning off this stuff, it beats trying to figure it out on my own. Thanks for watching.
Hey Guys! Love, love, love your videos. Just watching sweet Maggie and I think you said she was biting her tail? Ours did same. Wondering if you have pressed her anal glands out? Sometimes they don’t do it themselves and you have to do it for them. I do both doggies once a month (very easy) because we groom them ourselves and they don’t get the benefit of a groomer doing it. Just throwing that out there🤗. Hugs from Clinton SC campers in an Airstream Basecamp. We visit same places y’all go. Love y’all!❤❤❤
Yes, we have Maggie’s glands suppressed regularly by the vet. We’ve both read up on how to do it but to scare we might hurt her. I think she does a lot of biting due to allergies. I do appreciate you thinking of her.
4:32 - 4:54...it looks like, if anything, your back muscles might have gone into "spasm"...your left hip and shoulder are higher up than your right hip/shoulder. This happens to me sometimes. For me, I sometimes use a back roller and "roll out" my lower back...there are muscles that run parallel with the spine, they are called "erector spinae"...ask your wife to run her fingers along the erector spinae along the LEFT side of your back...up and down, about 2" to the left side, parallel to the spine...and then repeat along the RIGHT side, 2" parallel (Right side) to the spinal column...and see if there is a difference in the back muscles as you run your finger up and down...poke your thumb into the muscle, then release and re-apply pressure an inch up or down from the last place you pressed your thumb into the back muscle. I would not be surprised if you see/feel a difference (one side versus the other)...muscles in spasm feel more like elevator cables and relaxed muscles have a soft, forgiving clay-like feeling. Gentle massage in muscles that are in spasm can help release them from spasm. Also: the first 24-72 hours post "injury"...use cold packs to essentially "chill out" the muscle...Heat can be considered to be used anywhere fro 24-96 hours AFTER any initial situation that began the spasm. By what I see in this video at 4:32 - 4:54, it appears that the right side of your back might be in spasm...But let me tell you, I am NOT a doctor, or physical therapist, or nurse, or health care practitioner, so what "advice" I offer is to be considered entirely unprofessional (and I could be WAYYYY off the mark here!). Needless to say, IF what I write is helpful to you, then great...but go gently at first!!!! Finally, there ARE a series of exercises to help STRETCH out muscle in spasm, but the muscles should be warmed up so stretching can be considered safe. Good luck, either way!!!! (Also: the glutes work in collaboration with the erector spinae...you can Google the name "erector spinae" and "multifidus"...found mostly active (and at times problematic) in the lumbar region alongside the spine. Good luck!!!! I hope this might prove helpful to you!!
Thank you so much for your comment. It does make a lot of sense… and we will try all your suggestions. Owen thought he was feeling better and of course he did to much one day and now we are trying to recover again. You have been very helpful!
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle Just lie on your stomach when she applies gentle pressure with either the palm of her hand OR more direct pressure with her thumb(s)...!
Poor puppy looks deranged with that collar on her neck
We put the blue collar on Maggie to keep her from scratching her eye. It’s a lot more comfortable than a cone and she doesn’t seem to mind it since it also works as a pillow.
