- It's South Metro's first Public Information Officer - "PIO" VLOG! Connor and Eric invite you to follow along as they respond to emergencies and take viewers behind the scenes to explore SMFR and the communities we serve.
It's pretty clear Conner has a history on TV. You can tell by the facial expressions as she's listening and talking.
I look forward seeing more video content of you guys. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures!
Great video guys, I love this channel because it gives you a behind the scenes look at a Fire Department and that is very unique to you guys! I am an aspiring Firefighter\Paramedic, so I love it when ya'll post videos!
Good job Eric and Connor 👍👍 I think this is cool ...

You should do a unscripted on Heavy rescue 34
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO ok thankyou
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO I would like to see you and Conner do a video with Firefighter Shannon Stensvad and the crew of Tower 32
This is truly one of kind, and very interesting. I look forward to getting more in depth content about incidents, and I think you two will do a great job at that. There's a lot of general "station tours" and "a day in the life of a firefighter" type videos that really only scratch the surface of what first responders do, and lots of them can be "dumbed down" for the general public, but I like the approach that you two are going for. Lots of the viewers on here already have a decent idea of emergency services, and I'm sure they'd all appreciate a good in depth emergency vlog series, which again, seems like that's what you're going for. Can't wait!
I do have one question... I noticed the PIO vehicle is equipped with emergency lighting and sirens. Do you activate that emergency equipment en route to every call you go to, or only some? Can you chose which calls to respond emerg to, or are you specifically ordered by dispatch to respond emerg or routine?
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Gotcha, thanks very much for the feedback. That's a VERY cool position to have, and I wish there was something similar near me. Can't wait for more vlogs!
More videos of equipment please 😄
i enjoyed unscripted but it just got way better with moderation explanation. Eric & Connor work great both together and solo (Connor's Fire Academy series keep it up its fantastic) Once connor gets confortable with lingo and do's and don't you two these's only one place to go with this,,,beyond the moon keep up the good work and the Academy Series
Nice do you also do home fire safety as well. Just asking. Like going round and fitting smoke alarms in people’s homes.
I live in San Antonio Texas and I want to become a firefighter for the SAFD
I have a question, as a public information officer, do you get the same training as a regular firefighter/EMT or do you strictly go on scene as basically the news reporter for the department.
South metro already answered the question for their department but it's not uncommon for PIOs to have the the same training as the rest the department same goes for PIOs at the police department most are sworn officers (some departments use civilians )
cool video , i alwas really your videos and i've learned alot :0)
Yes
Great job, how do you get a PIO job with South Metro?
Love it. Need my Department to start a PIO office.
most departments have one or have the NEED for one. If you consider your self well versed and are good at public speaking do some research on Departments that have them vs do not, then make the case, respectfully why they should start one. It benefits in areas that are simple as getting information out, to recruitment, to being the individual who fields the media's critical questioning if something were to go wrong. Don't worry about standing up and being the change.
I was asked to be a PIO when I ended up having to have heart surgery, I felt insulted that they made a position to keep me around because I could no longer fight fire. I accepted however I did not know that the Fire Investigator was working with the Sheriff to go public with a serial arsonist case that they needed help with. My first Press Conference and I felt like I was going to get eaten alive by the reporters.
Copy that yeah I work for a dept that does not have one, good info thanks.
I see that south metro before but I have it on plus point.
Way too go south metro fire department be safe out there
If I move to Denver Colorado when I'm older I wanna work at south metro and train at class 19-1 or if I'm living in Columbus Ohio when I'm older I'll just work there
That's. Awesome. U. Guys
What a cute smile with those dimples
Shes not pretty. Shes beautiful! 😍
Can you cover dog rescues.
Are PIO's for South Metro sworn members or civilian employees? Do they attend fire academy?
Good question I was wondering the same thing.
Do the PIO's respond Code 3?
Is the next unscripted episode about St. 32?
South Metro Fire Rescue PIO Sweet! Can’t wait for that!
It would be much better if the driver didn’t continue to look at and read the MDT while driving! Connor could certainly read it without distraction. It’s hard enough to get the distracted driver message out there without seeing this.
I remember corner
How come you guys get your own vehicles
