      traps at the fixtures ? uhm what`? im not a native speaker so i may understand you wrong.
      those traps are ment to keep gasses from the mains out of your house, if you dont have that main trap any little leak in your pipes will release those gasses and can very well kill you. you want and need a trap at the boundary, you really wanna keep the gasses of mains as far away from your own pipes as possible.

    • @chrisv4640
      @chrisv4640 Před 3 lety +1

      @@woswasdenni1914 We have a p-trap at each fixture. One under each sink, tub, and shower. They are built into toilets. They block the sewer gases. It is highly unlikely that a little sewer gas could kill you. We also have vent pipes going out the roof connected to the sewer to allow it to breathe. These vents would be the sewer gases easiest path to escape, making "any little leak" difficult to release gases. Think "path of least resistance". Most municipalities around me have removed the requirements for "whole house traps" due to the fact that they are a constant problem.

    • @throttlebottle5906

      the whole building/house traps are likely not used anymore in new construction/rework there, that's like 1930's leftover tech, from when they still had un-trapped fixtures, but pressur e imbalance within the building would pull or push gases through and smell foul.
      most if not all places just eliminate them upon any breakage/re-plumb

    • @throttlebottle5906
      @throttlebottle5906 Před 3 lety +2

      the plugs (most old and newer they use) have a lead ring on the outside which is threaded and the pipe is old enough to no longer have threads or they're total rust filled and it would never unthread anyway, you'd just waste time and strip the lead up anyway. may as well just knock them out and knock them back in(forming the lead to whatever surface is there :)
