Have you ever wondered what tunes to learn next, or what some good tunes to learn might be for your local jam? Have you struggled to listen through old recordings that are hard to learn from? Tristan Scroggins and I are super excited to announce the public release of The Old Time 💯 - Vol. 1 which features the first 20 tunes from our mammoth recording session of 100 of the most common jam friendly old time tunes. This release is primarily educational in it's function and purpose, (although these track sound really great we think!) to be paired with video content, written transcriptions and the remaining 80 tracks which are available on our patreon pages linked below. Last Chance is a super fun a catchy tune from the playing of Hobart Smith. This is an interesting one cause it's a banjo tune, and really the only "banjo tune" we recorded for The Oldtime 100, everything else being learned from fiddlers and thus being "fiddle tunes". So there's a little less of a blueprint for how to play this on the fiddle, I'm trying to imitate the rhythm of the clawhammer strokes in the A part and I really like the Bb note that Hobart Smith plays at the end of the A part there, so I'm sliding around on that note a little. The B part only has 7 counts rather than the usual 8 so watch out for that!
