Brought back many memories growing in The 70's and 80's. TV has changes so much since cable, Dish, took over. And this is what I missed the most. The Lord's Prayer.
Are you aware that speaking a Native American language was against the law up til the mid 70s. You could be arrested, imprisoned and or fined for speaking a Native American language.
Thanks for posting this. I grew up in Danville, Illinois and remember this from my childhood. There were a lot of Native American Indian commercials back then. I knew it gave me the sense that Native American Indians were very proud and honorable. I had looked for this video many times over the years.
Awesome; I always thought this commercial was very moving. I'd see it sometimes as a boy in the '70s and '80s (probably mostly the '80s when my bedtime ended, because as I recall this was used as a channel sign off in the Seattle-Tacoma area).
The same for me, when the tv stations signed off at Midnight, this was what they showed then immediately afterward the played Taps, lowered the flag then.....static until 5 am for the farm report.
This is how the local television station in Bakersfield California used to end it's broadcast day. I've never seen the Lords prayer presented so beautifully and with such passion. Thank you for posting this.....God Bless.
I remember seeing this following the National Anthem as a local T.V. station (I think, KHSL channel 12 out of Chico. CA) was signing off for the night, back in the late 1970's. R.I.P. Chief Shatka Bear Step(1898-1980) 🌈🌈🕯🕯 and narrator/folk singer Walt Conley(1929-2003).🕯🕯🌈🌈
Thanks for posting this, Wood Ridge. KHSL-12, the CBS affiliate in Chico, California, used to show this every night at sign-off time; I wish they still would.
I remember it, but, the scene looks a little different from the way I remember it. Either I have a faulty memory, or, the Mandela Effect has kicked in.
Wow, thanks for posting this video. I've been looking for it for years, and finally found it. Isn't it the most beautiful prayer you've ever seen? Thank You!
I never saw *this* version, but I remember the Lord’s Prayer either being the sign-off or else played at some point during the broadcasting day, usually around 5am
WDIO-TV in Duluth, MN used this as one of several rotating sign-offs, along with versions of the Star-Spangled Banner, a Navy choir singing "Eternal Father," and the famous "High Flight."
That was beautiful. I noticed that "will" (desire, intent) and "power" are the same sign. Mankind has the power to choose (free will) to believe in the Creator God and follow the trail of His Son Jesus. All power is given to Him. "He whom the Son has set free is free indeed."
This is a most touching treatment to the Lord's Prayer......I can not, however, get the very last guitar chord. I would have to compose it myself. ................any comments here??? Tim
It's basically an F# major barre chord, isn't it? (You do know that YT videos can be slowed down, which makes it easier to figure out songs? Just adjust the "speed" setting above.)
Tobias Kevorkazito I hope he's praying to the Only God, the One Who sent Jesus to die on the cross for you & me. Which one do you pray to, my brother ? I truly hope you will be with when we enter our final rest. I hope the Holy Spirit who is in you, if you'd seek Him , will speak to you. I hope you are not insulted by my words, for I mean them from my heart. ❤
He is praying to the King Of Creation. There is only one God for all mankind. Not a 'settler' God and a 'Native American' God and a 'Frenchman' God etc, etc, etc. And one day, "every knee will bow" to Him. Including you. PS. I love your profile pic! Very cool shot :)
A station in my hometown played this before signing iff un the '70's It was so popular people stayed up to watch it.

A 100 years agod, maybe
Not the Dine' nor Hopi...
WICD in Champaign, IL used to run this at sign off. We loved seeing him.
Fred Peralta I have been looking for this video for a long time. Always remembered it from my childhood in Champaign. Thank you for the confirmation.

Yes, this is the one I remember, too.

I'm going to learn this and preform this at our church.
A good way to end a day.
Many television stations in the 70s and 80s used this prior to signing off.
Thank you for posting been looking for this one for a long time.

I'll try to figure it out, let's see....

This is full on grotesque. To see this Indigenous elder praying to the settler god makes me sick to my stomach.
