1956 Austin A30 Restoration Project
Builder: studarude
Build Thread: retrorides.prob....
A30's and A35's were probably the last decent cars to come out the Longbridge factory. Excellent restoration work and fabrication with practical upgrades, such as full hydraulic brakes, Discs on front and 1275 engine, must make this wee Austin much easier, safer and more fun to drive. In their day they were a nightmare to drive with a risk of tipping over at every roundabout. Easiest way to tell A30 from A35 is small rear window on A30, there are other subtle differences in the body. The roof gutter for example, on A30 goes around the front of the roof, on A35's it runs down the screen post. Fantastic job in my opinion, another one saved from the crusher.
Looks really great one of the great little cars of all times
Doing great job on Austin keep up the good work thank you
Excellent job. You can be proud of yourselves.
We just make videos. the work and the praise deserve the owner.
cracking work...... "Share the car running on the next vid maybe ;-)
oki. i will uploud in feature the owner youtube chanel where you can see vids with this car.
Amazing work, it would have been nice to hear it running at the end
sorry and thank you bro. maybe next time if the owner will let me do it. ;)
Great work and very sensible brake up grades, but why no flashing indicators or am I missing something.
I owned one in 1967 at age 18, took off the carburettor and replaced it with a zenith downdraught off of a much bigger car. The air filter wouldn't fit under the bonnet so I left it off. Did that car go???? Broke the halfshaft on more than one occasion! Great fun in that car and drove it to North Wales from London twice.
What a great job your doing cant wait for next video
thank you bro.
Nice job looks way better gray than it did black.
My mk 1 cavalier had similar wheels nice chrome beauty rings looked good though .
Lovely little car
Thank you for comment ❤
Great job. Thanks for posting.
The gold engines were reconditioned exchange units. Original colour was green. Great work none the less.
Thank you. the owner it.s the one who deserve this .
That is amazing, I`m gob-smacked!
thank you bro
This is just great...I've always liked these little cars....I think it is awesome how you upgraded the powerplant and other aspects....that's the way to do it! Like to know more about the mill....is it a 1200? Or?
Hello. i put in the description the owner contacts. so it.s more easily to found your answers from him. we hope that helps you, if not , we are glad to answer at all questions. :D Good Luck
Awesome build!
Thank you. The owner deserve this 👌🏼
That’s wonderful
Thankkkk YOU. the owner love this car so much.
I wouldn't know where to start in dealing with all that rust . I love those A30-35s ,have never seen one in the US Northern New England .My toy is a 1948 Studebaker .
Nice restoration, not so sure about the 'upgrades' though, I prefer restorations to the original spec - but that's just me.
Hey bro. Thank you, yeah we love to make a restorstion like an original car. But the owner want some new toys in his car and we had to make him happy. But we are totally agree with you.
I agree - the wheels look silly.
@@RestoredCARs The customer is always right - even when they are wrong :)
@@grotekleum we know this 😁
@@RestoredCARs Indeed we do :)
When I’ve restored my Morris Minor, the only upgrades were; unleaded head, mud flaps and an in-line fuel enhancer.
:)) that it's a good start bro.
A great job well done .
nice; I think I would have repainted the black. ..but the battle ship gray isn't bad.
Choose your favorite color buddy. We liked this one. but I think it will look nice on black too ;) good luck
I tend to agree about some of your upgrades, I'm all for making the cars safer and easier to drive, but for me, the small steering wheel and silly looking rev counter don't suite the car at all. If was going to be a classic racer ok, but if it's a car for normal use then they are a bit O.T.T. Anyway great to see another one saved, better than it getting scrapped whichever way it's saved, at least it's saved for many more years. Remember everyone has their own opinion, and saving these cars is far more important than anyone's personal opinion. Nice one.
Thank you very much for these words, people like you inspire us and make us to publish more content like this. We are glad you like it, the owner deserves all the praise. Good luck
Very well done looks get
BACK EAT
Looks great after so much hard work.Shame about the rev counter!!
WOW
These cars were well known to be "rust buckets". Decent engine & lovely smooth gearbox though. The brakes (original drums all round) definitely worth an upgrade because keeping the drums properly adjusted for longer than few weeks was tiresome.
You certainly showed Arffer Daily and 'is bombsite boys a fing or two! A proper bodge-up if ever there was one. Value at completion? A toilet roll in todays prices
Ahaaaa!..That's why the missus can't put the washing out..!
Thank you 😉👌🏼
Would have been better with a more modern engine with more torque and horsepower and a better set of wheels with discs all round
Maybe yeah. but the owner decide the stile :)
Can you still get panels for these?
Isn't this an A35 and not an A30. Flashing turn signals only came in withthe A35. Also the A30 gearlever was direct into the gearbox and not remote as you show here. I distinctly remember this as I mistakenly made a solid steel gear lever knob. The weight of this together with the angle and length of the gear lever meant that to change from 3rd to 4th I only had to depress the clutch and hit a bump! Having said that it does appear to have the A30 sized rear window so perhaps it's a mongrel!
Hey, we will check again the list, we have 3 videos with A35 and A30. maybe we just changed the titles. thank you anyway for report the problem . we appreciate .
The body is definitely that of an A30 with slots for the old trafficator arms and tiny rear window.
The music doesn't fit the age or spirit of the car.
Sorry if didn.t like it 🤔
Great job on the restoration, one question, Why oh why to people insist on putting a big ass taco in the dash. I can under stand why you need a taco for shift points. but why such a big one, it does not make the car go any faster or is it just a dick extension. You have spent a lot of time, money and done a great job, but it is that taco that is a big let down.
Hello
I have a few parts for this car
A fucking music video
Sorry for this.
Why do all that, then put on those horrible wheels?
Nice car but awful music
What’s with the fancy video work? Put my right off - made me ‘seasick’.
everything it.s in the description ;)
Very nice car Completely useless audio Not one spoken word Just shitty eleevator muzak
Kill off the HORRIBLE music otherwise is ok.
Beautiful restoration of such an ugly car !
AHAHAHA. it s not UGLY. it.s special. thank you bro.
@@RestoredCARs It certainly is special...If it were human, it would be wearing a helmet.
@@mschiffel1 Yeah definitely :))
Why would you do this? All that effort to restore an A30 to original condition when those cars were crap even by the dismal standards of the 1950s. I had one in the 1970s because a shit car like this was all I could afford back then.
@ There are no longer any traction engines or steam locomotives produced anywhere, so restoring one of those those would be completely different to restoring a petrol-engined car, which are still being produced today (in much better form) by the million. But I agree with your Tiger Moth example.
hey there. someone really love this project. and we made it for him because he was so generous and donate for a school in my town the money they needed to reconstruct some buildings.
@ thank you bro
For one thing, they had some style - unlike the ugly cars of today. There was some really ugly thing in the supermarket carpark the other day, all I could do was stare and ask ' Who thought that was a good idea?'
@@ushoys where are baby austins being produced now a days tosser
