Porto is such an understated beauty. Paris and Rome may be more grand and opulent, but Porto has that indescribable something that can't be matched
Exactly! I spent a week of my Porto vacation in Paris, and every day, I could not wait to get back to Porto.
Funny. I don't like Porto. It's rather gloomy and kinda decadent.
But, of course, I respect different opinions 🙏👍

From a Porto guy, I could tell I’m much he fell in love for the city. People from Porto or “ Portueses” as we call, like to write letter for the city and yours is truly real. Love from Porto 💙

"Portuenses"
Ou "Tripeiros"!! ;)
You're in my hometown Dave.
Watching your videos, particularly this one, from where we live here in California fills us with saudades.
We'll definitely move back eventually, we'll be there for a couple months from April to june, can't wait.
Also, often friends and colleagues ask me for a list of places to visit in Porto, it's always kinda hard to come up with a good list but you actually did a pretty good job at it, and this from someone who was born and raised there. 🙏
Obrigado! Thank you for taking good care and featuring our country Dave, it means a lot. ❤️
Ohhh having lived in both places, I feel your saudade! Porto wins for me. 🫶🏽

🙏
I love this city so much! Sadly, I am not living in Portugal any longer and I feel a lot of "saudades". Thank you for your video, it brought tears to my eyes.
I stumbled upon your videos while I was visiting Lisbon for the first time! I debated whether to visit Porto and this video helped me decide. Right now I’m on a train headed there! Thanks!
I'm gonna be honest, i'm from Vila Nova de Gaia and i of course i love Porto . I feel grateful and proud of seeing people from other parts of the world talking so good of the city that im so proud of
I bought a flat in Gaia, for my retirement. My highest priority is coming home to peace. Porto stole my heart. Go Dragoes!!!
Hi!We are coming next month im Porto can you maybe tell us places for kids..i have a son 3 years old and icant find something to do with him 😊
I am proudly Portuguese, and a daughter of Portugal. Obrigada Dave, for the wonderful videos of Portugal. It simply fills my heart with so much warmth and saudades. Até a próxima❤️🇵🇹❤️
Porto was really walking friendly, even late at night and early Morning. I never felt threatened. Also at a side walk cafe, I had calamari. I felt so welcomed from the staff, as I people watched. This was across the park and street from the stock exchange.
I agree about the safety. I walk in the middle of the night alone, even down alleys, and have never once felt unsafe.
I'll be stopping over for one night in Portlo. What street should I especially make time for?
@@MsElke11t drop off at the Bolhão subway station and after taking a few pics from the Capela das Almas, walk the Santa Catarina street, and later go down to the Sao Bento train station (more nice pictures to be taken) , take a walk to the Praça da Libedade square and finally head down to the river by the Rua das Flores.
@@Vera150607 WOW!! Thank you!! I only have 2-3 hours before sundown, but I'll try my best!!
Dave!! You are the only one that explained "O PORTO" THE PORT.
Claro, moço! O Porto é uma nação carago 💪 No Porto (in the port) é só gente de carácter forte, de simpatia única! Viva o norte, o povo mais forte 💪
I am from Peniche but my mother is from Gaia. Loved my mothers side family. Ppl from that region are very unique.
Great channel Dave! Keep it up. You turned the best YTer about Portugal. Hugs from Switzerland ❤
Obrigado for loving Portugal and the people so much. Next time in Porto, you should also visit Torre dos Clérigos for a breathtaking view of the skyline, and Palácio da Bolsa landmark building. Safe travels -
48 hs não dá para tudo! :) Muito mais teria ainda para visitar!
Great introduction to Porto, missing just a couple of key places like the Torre dos Clérigos
But it was an amazing, beautiful and thorough documentary style vídeo. Even more appealing when made by someone who loves Portugal like you.
I'm not a city person, but thank you for showing how beautiful my hometown is in such a professional way.
People like you are always welcome 🤜🤛
I'm from Lisbon, live in Ericeira, but I love the city of Porto. Everything is beautiful there. About the Treaty of Windsor, It is actually the oldest diplomatic alliance in the world still in force, it was signed on May 9, 1386. Let me tell you, an anemone (in portuguese anémona) is like a flower in the sea.
I took a working holiday for a month in O Porto last January and fell in love. Stunning city wit some of the best food I've ever had. The hills are BRUTAL, but you'll get used to it, lol. Gonna be doing a week in Lisboa soon and hope it can live up. Debating taking the bus up north and switching my hostel reservation so I can spend more time there.
I loved Porto!! Beautiful city and the people were so kind and friendly. We found a small family-owned restaurant and that was our favorite place to eat. I love climbing the hills and was surprised how well I handled it all. I would go back again! I didn't care for the Fracesinha. I loved walking across the bridge to the other side of the river for photos. We stayed on Santa Caterina in downtown so we were centrally located and everything was easy.
Lol. Never liked the Francesinha!!!
hi, what is the name of small family-owned restaurant where you loved to eat? Thanks
@@dainiuskalina5288 I don't recall the name of the establishment. I was located diagonally across the street from the Holiday Inn Express on Santa Catarina. It was a narrow storefront space with a couple of tables outside and tables inside. The daughter stood outside with menus and the rest of the family worked inside. It was great food and wine and very reasonable. I was shocked that we got a great bottle of wine from the Alentejo region for 4 Euros.
@@dainiuskalina5288 I just found the card from the restaurant. It's Mau Feitio located at 638 Rua de Santa Catarina in Porto.
@@chuckmurray1825 perfect thank you so much 😊
Such an adorable video! The first time I was in Oporto was almost 30 years ago and, by far, it's still one of my favorite places on Earth!
Thank you for your awesome videos Dave. My family and myself are planning to take the big leap and you are really answering so many questions and giving alot of clarity. I can't wait to see more of your work! All the best.
This video is outstanding. Of the dozens and dozens we’ve seen I like this one the best. Definitely the city view from Torre Clérigos is missing, but you only had 48 hours, after all! I’m so happy with your love letter to my favorite city in the world! I really appreciated feeling your affection for it. We will invite you up for a stay sometime, if you like! And a deeper look at the city.
Thank you very much for the kind words and support Raele! Will be back very soon
One of the best videos you have made, and one of the best I have seen on Porto. I only wish it was a bit longer with a bit more content, but awesome work Dave.
I thought it was the perfect length! There is no end to what Porto has to offer. Maybe he could have a part two :)
I loved Porto! A wonderful city with great views. Thank you for your great video!
Loved this one as a real Porto born. You have here one awesome choice of places in a very good sequence. You haven’t fail one of my favorites that is Serralves with all that you can have their. Most of the travelers miss it in their experience vídeos in Porto. This video is a 10 in 10 ❤️
I'll be there in 5 weeks, today is January 31. My trip is on March 8 thru March 16. I'm so excited! Thank you for the video.
Hello! I'm visiting it in two weeks. Any tips? Were there any dishes wirth trying, restaurants?
Brilliant video and comments about Porto. Well done and I hope you continue to enjoy to be in Portugal 🇵🇹
We visited Porto in 2022, most amazing place to visit. We loved all of it.😍😍
I live near Porto and for me the north of Portugal has the true Portuguese experience, with the culture more connected to Portuguese traditions
I visited Portugal, and spend three days in Porto, love it!
Lovely vídeo! Thanks for letting the world know about this amazing unique city. There is still a lot to see, eat and do in Porto!
🙏
Dave, thanks for this video! We were so lucky to visit Porto over the new year, and we are super excited to be able to go back this summer. This video is so helpful. 😀

I was born and raised in Lisbon, live In Paris for a while, but absolutely love Porto. It is a fascinating City, a surprise Box for me, with such a variety of interesting stuff to see and do. Wonderfull to get lost there also, Just strolling around. I love the people from there also.
Loved your vídeo, it gave me a good vibe, wish to come Back soon. Obrigado

Awesome video. Really showed the city in a new light for me!
I know Porto but you’ve made me want to go back! Thank you.
This is such a well-done video. Thanks for everything you do, Dave.
Thanks for sharing.
Have to agree with you. Visited Porto for the first time last summer, and it was a much more warm, cozy and friendly city than I had anticipated. And also so much to see and experience. Not so hard to get to either if you are in Europe, as they have an int airport.
I can't wait to visit in a few weeks, thanks for sharing the video!
Wow thanks for this video and love all your enthusiasm! So refreshing when sharing some true joy, looks like a very unique and quite beautiful place !
We are moving there May 1st afer having visited three times and on tthe last trip secured a T2 Apartment. You did such a super job of showing the charm of the city. I enjoy your genuine excitment of Porto and comparisons to your other experiences. I'm glad Porto has come out on top in manyn of your comments. We look forward to being there and will be usre to hit up the places you've mentioned. Dave, thank you so much.

Wow, thank you, saudades of beautiful Porto, .
Dave I work as tour guide and I watch a lot of youtube video to inspire me at work. Yours was the most sweet and amazing video about Porto I have seen. I would love to meet you and if you get tired from Portugal lets move to Brazil and get some videos there...
A beautiful city, well worth the visit.
Appreciate the more modern places you recommend vs the traditional touristy destinations. It makes this video fresh.
Thanks Kyle
Me, a Portuguese born and raised in Porto, watching your video as if I've never been there hahah loved it so much and your friend Carlos knows what's up!!! Best francesinha is from Brasão 😂🎉
What a lovely, video recently visited Portugal and love to see the videos again and again feels like I am there again
Very good, keep going. Portugal/ Porto is the best

Beautiful video ! I’m going to Porto in November !
So excited!
Can’t wait !
Thanks a lot for the video! Heading to Porto next week, every piece of info in this video is so valuable to digest
Very well documented congratulations!
Ok Dave, this is Roxane and Lars somewhere in Portugal; traveling Portugal according to someone called Dave; actually currently in Porto, and loving it! Took you up on the Francesinha experience @ Brasao Coliseu, exceptional... heavy, but awesome 🤣 I probably shouldn't have ordered a second one.... just kid'n, it would have killed me-:) THX 😀
Ola David! In fact, the installation made with fisherman's nets on Matosinhos beach would be a sea anemone (Anêmona-do-mar), as if it were jellyfish floating over a roundabout.
I loved your video!! Ive been living in Porto for 5 years and I really love this city!
My buddy has been telling me how beautiful Porto is. Now watching your video, I have no excuse not go to visit. Thanks
Great video. We have a trip planned and have watched dozens. This was one of the best we've watched.
We just completed our trip. Porto is a fantastic city, not to be missed. Absolutely loved it's charm, warm wonderful people, tasty food, delicious wine and port. Take the time to visit the beautiful Douro Valley. It was worth the time and expense. It was our highlight of our trip to Portugal.
Porto! Heaven on Earth 🌎 what a place, best food, wine wine wine! And the people, the Duoro River, beach 🏖️ my retirement #1 choice. Verei você em breve Portugal! 🙏👍
Well done.. Be in Porto in 10 days ... Now I am even more excited to visit!
Heading back to Porto in May! Thanks for the fresh recommendations 😎
🙏
When I see your work I just want to discover my own country again! 👏
I love your video on Porto, I love Portugal on the whole and I wish you divided the area of Porto into two and made two longer videos. Obrigado.
I will be making a full length episode Antonio. Thank you for the support my friend
Amazing guide Dave. Well done
Nice editing Dave. Great shots
Beautiful video. I love how slowly you speak. Your video was really informative and lovely.
Very nice, thank you.👍
Thank you, Dave, for your kind review of Porto. So sorry for your nose and eye. All the best!
Excellent video! This is Mike in Portugal, returning from the Algarve to Porto for 2-4 months, so you gave me some excellent places to see I haven't experienced. GREAT JOB!
Thx Dave, now I wanna visit Porto too.
Hi Dave.
Excellent video. Amazing views.
Thank you for sharing.
Greetings from a Portuguese 😘
Muito Obrigado 🙏
We are going there in Mai.Thank you for this Tour.
First of all, big fan of your videos.
i am originally from Porto and never ever in my life said Oporto since in Portuguese it makes no sense. I must admit that many people say Oporto but they are generally from Spain or England.
Like always great editing and video quality. Another like from me and thank you for the content.
Thank you for the correction. I added it in the video
Thank you very much for this amazing video all the best to you !!
Porto is a gem. I love Portugal!
Porto is charming and beautiful, especially for azulejos fanatics like me, but every time I go, it's cloudy, rainy and overcast... Sunny Lisbon will still be my favorite, even in November! We love Portugal !
Nice you enjoyed it
I did have the best time on the river cruise with my glass of port wine. I had salmon for dinner, it was great. The waiters were 20 yr olds, they were all polite, patient, and hip. The metro is going thru a major re- vamp. It's extending to outer small towns, because the average worker can't afford rents in the city, yet that's where the jobs are. This is happening all over Europe.
Este video é fantástico. Obrigado 😊
Awesome video Dave! ❤❤❤
Thanks Vincent🙏
This one is very insightful. Thank you! ❤
Obrigado, obrigado wonderful video, missing this beautiful place w it's friendly helpful people
Visiting Porto next week and your video really hyped me up! Thanks!
This was such an amazingly inspiring and informative video. I’m planning a trip there this December
I am from a small town in the Alto Douro , the Port wine region and going back to 1967 when I arrive to this city at the São Bento station I just got amazed and felt in love at once. I was only 13 near 14 years old. As for the McDonalds you mentioned it has a very long story. In the begginning that was a big coffee shop where we could play some snooker at the cave. In the older days of 50's, 60's and 70's there were some big coffee shops like that one in Porto "Café Imperial" now changed to a McDonalds.
Hello there! Welcome to Porto! :)
Thanks for such a wonderful video... :)
Thank you for visiting my city. Your video is fantastic.🙂
Thank you Raphael 🙏
Thank you for this video!
We are going to Porto in September!!! Man, you are giving us the Hype for this Travel!!! Send us more clips about this Great City! You make us Love Porto even more!!! Nice video man, Hope we'll meet you somewhere in Porto!
Come and experience it by yourself ;) Enjoy your stay here! But be prepared to find a lot of crowded places!
Mullets and Carhartts!!?? I have already lived in Montana.... Trying to get my wife to retire to Portugal, not helping Dave :D. Seriously, thank you for the work you put into the videos.
Trying to get my wife to retire to Portugal also but it's gonna be tough to get her to leave our son in the States as he just got married and my wife believes there are going to be grandkids in the next few years. I keep telling her that's what Zoom and airline tickets are for but......
hahaha can't escape it 😉😜
Mullets and Carhartts is the only thing that "turned me off" in this video... I'm a 44 yrs young Portuense and i've never seen that much of "Mullets and Carhartts"...
Don't know where Dave got that from.
Watching your beautiful video gave me the chills!!! PORTO is my hometown. Thank you 🙏 ❤
