As someone who was not familiar with the comics at all the reveal of who and what Cosmo was is one of the few moments in gaming when I was literally speechless.
Did none of the dog puns leading up to it tip you off? Comments like “short leash” and “good boy”?

This definitely sets a new benchmark for how dogs SHOULD look in video games. Cosmo looks great! Hopefully dogs keep getting better, AND we still need to pet them!
I think the thing that helps it, is that they actually mocapped a dog. Used a special suit and it really helped sell the movements and animation of the character......although it also comes across more like Cosmo is like the mind of a telepath, somehow tethered to a dog body that doesn't always listen to it, and does it's own thing at times.
Gotta shoutout how rocket looks too. Probably the best looking model and facial capture in the game.

Never ceases to amaze me that Nova Corps was so vital to this game and Richard Rider does not appear once. Neither is he even mentioned by people like Cosmo or Ko-rel, both characters who were first introduced in his comics and associated with him, especially Cosmo. All they gave him was some short nova corps file on him, which isn't enough respect for the man who literally rebuilt the Nova Corps and saved the universe imo.

It's always amazed me how Russian-speaking characters can have in-depth conversations in English, but can't remember how to say yes and no.

But didn't it surprise you that English words with a heavy Russian accent are transmitted via telepathic communication?
I mean, i speak English too, but its the very easy words that get me. Sometimes i too say "ja" and "nee" instead of "yes" and "no"
Lol true but a lot of times when it sounds like they are swapping broken English they aren’t. Russian doesn’t have the word “The” and sometimes sentence structure can be simplified. So instead of “I am going to the store” it’s literally translated to “I go store.” The characters are just translating Russian into English minus “Englishisms”
He even calls Peter with his Russian pronunciation as Pyotr, that’s awesome!
I don’t know what i prefer, this or mcu. The game version with the deep Russian accent is funny yet intimidating, but the MCU female version is so adorable. I love both. Cosmo is a good doggie.

From what I understand, characters are designed based on pre-MCU design. A lot of contracts are coming up for renegotiating, and stars are aging, so some of them might need to be swapped out in a few years anyway.

The story/narrative is indeed pretty good, nice visuals... but goddamn the combat and traversal sucks. I think I am reaching the end now, just can't stand this game any longer, if only the combat was a little bit better
@@RRRRRRRRR33The combat is neat but it does get repetitive very fast. Wish they took more of a note from a squad based shooter like Mass Effect.
@@TheAwesomeDarkNinja In a way the combat in Guardians is more "advanced" if compared to Mass Effect, but the shooting is just so boring. ME is super basic, but at least the shooting from cover is decent enough, some random powers, etc.. Guardians not only has bad shooting and melee, it's also super repetitive, really awful combat.
I remember how I criticized the combat in BOTW, but now playing TOTK right after forcing myself to finish Guardians, now I can say Guardians has bad combat and Zelda is decent enough. Sometimes you have to play really bad stuff to figure things out, to establish a more realistic quality standard. Guardians has a nice story and presentation, but goddamn everything else is so bad
Biggest mistake in the MCU, relegating Cosmo to a cameo role.
And I did enjoy hearing The Avengers and Spider-Man

I’m not for the gender swapping of characters, but I’m also very conflicted about the difference in how the MCU depicts Cosmo as this adorable female doggo. This intimidating version is really fun given how much seriousness doesn’t exist in the MCU.
I love the brutal contrast between the loveable labrador exterior and the harsh Russian accent dripping with icy menace and barely restrained contempt
I've always been so sad that Cosmo wasn't in the MCU. Would've been AWESOME to see him in GotG 1.
It's crazy to me how they managed to nail the dog's animation, but all the other clips I've seen from this game failed to impress, as there was some awkward to see at every turn.
Even the two big red guys at the beginning to the video, their animations are off. You can totally see a random dude the size of Quill making the motion-capture, and the dots were then stretched to match the big red guys models, but guys like them must weight around 250kg at least, they must have a lot of weight in each of their step. I'm not saying the ground should shake like it's Godzilla, but they can't move like a normal-sized human either. Have you see how Professor Hulk moves in EndGame? Check the difference.
Seen a moment where Gamora is supposed to 'sing with Peter', but she has no animation, doesn't even look at Quill, it's just awkward. Saw another one where at the end of a discussion, Gamora just clips through a door... is that game full of stuff like that?

I wonder if Cosmos it a reference to Laika, the Soviet space dog sent up in Sputnik 2 in 1957. Of course, Laika was a female dog and died in space, so the parallels are not exact. Still, I think this could be a nod to her.
Yes, Cosmo was based on laika. In fact this fact was further referenced when the MCU Cosmo was made into a female dog rather than a male like with the other iterations of the character.

I love Cosmo the Spacedog as a chef of security and the longtime member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The video game version is voiced by a male and in the MCU, Cosmo the Spacedog was voiced by a female and the actress name was Maria Baklova.
Peter quill actually seem like a leader not a soyboy, gamora and drax are loyal and capable not to mention better looking, rocket is mischievous, groot is groot.
