Bob Keller's methods have always resonated with me. Simple, effective and pratical.
I thought this was JCVD at first
So did I
Me tooo!! No gonna lie. That was really my incentive to watch this.
same, i was the thumbnail and said is that jean
Nice! Thank you! Clear and informative!
😏 you just got Vann Danmed
EXCELLENT LECTURE SIR
Just drop the mag, pick it up after fight is over *OCD intensifies*
my only caveat to this for left handed firers, pistols do not have ambi slide release and alot cannot have an ambi release
I'm a lefty and that was my first thought. I have always just bought right handed guns and practiced with it to be able to go over the top quickly during a reload. I carry an Springfield Armory XDS.9mm and it has the ambi mag release but not anything else on the gun.
It's a slide lock. Not release. Everybody know that.
I’m a lefty and I’ve always used index finger for slide stop/release (who gives a f**k what it’s called) and middle finger for mag release. Aaron Cowan is a lefty and he does the same thing.
At first I thought this guy was Claude van Damme
HOLY CRAP and KOWABUNGA!
I sure am happy that there are folks out there who have the means and time to show good shit like This! Honestly, I've been doing the EXACT same procedural methods for reloading for DECADES yet so many other seem to think that by following and parroting this or that Super Warrior, who proclaims that THEIR WAY is the best and most DEFINITIVE methodology BAR NONE, they now somehow possess the best of the best training on the planet!
Well now, HORSEHOCKUM, sez I!
THIS guy showing his ideas isn't proclaiming HIS method to be the "Ultimate" whatthefuckever, is he?
Nope! He's showing Economy Of Motion and an EFFICIENT way to change mags when the SHTF and you need MO BOOLETS.
It's only good if you practice it and look for more EFFICIENT ways to cut down on reloading times that could save your LIFE!
Economy Of Motion, Folks.
Multi-Tasking is a buzzword that is falling into disuse but it means something here.
So when it's all over and done with, when you are in a gun battle, the boolets have been launched (and maybe continue to be launched in YOUR direction) get the FUCK behind cover, ditch that empty or mostly empty mag for a fresh and full mag and get back into the fight putting rounds downrange, DAMMIT!
Then, and ONLY THEN, if you have the time and safety to recover the spent or partial mag, GO FOR IT.
But if you don't have enough Pain Pills available to send with Love to the Zulu's heading your way, well, you're just fucked anyway.
Great video, Pardner.
Keep it up and I look forward to seeing you again in another video showing more Good Shit on how to save time and, maybe, your life!
Keep On Keepin' On, Bro!
I didnt know van dam was a firearms instucter!!
Both methods of tactical reloads have their pros and cons. Yes with the method of holding two magazines at one time, fumbling with them could create a problem but with the method you are teaching to drop the mag like in an emergency reload, aren’t you also fumbling and taking your eyes of the threat when you bend down to look and pick up that magazine from the ground ? What if youre in a grassy area, what if it’s night time and your on a black asphalt street. How do you locate a black magazine quickly ?
Point is if you have time to hold one mag, drop one into another spot in your hand, reload, then store your mag (like most other people see or teach) you have time to drop the mag, reload, then retrieve the magazine. Only difference Bob is teaching is IF another threat come up either you are now shooting one-handed or your dropping the magazine you're holding in the first place to engage that threat make sense? You're cutting out the middle-man and if it's a tactical reload you have the time to drop it and pick it back up, if you're arguing you don't have time then you never had time to tac reload in the first place.
If you are in an emergency to the point of emptying a mag and reloading, you won't be scratching for an empty magazine in a hurry. Get it later if you lived through the fight.
Fuck the mag, can always get another
@@Mawgai I understand your point but we are civilians, if we need to head to the party, who will be resupplying us ? Have to think of those things. Also you might not be completely empty and want to save those few rounds, they might save your life
He's no Pat Mac🤔
Who all clicked on the vid thinking it was the Muscles From Brussels lmao
Mike Pannone, Travis Haley, Frank Proctor, Larry Vickers, Pat MacNamara would disagree with you on the tac reload. It is not inefficient to hold the fresh mag and partial mag with one hand when doing the tac reload. You just have to train and do it properly.
corismsyn thousand different ways to skin a cat my man. All are seasoned warriors just sharing their knowledge. I have done it Keller’s way all of my life. I see the need to practice both though. Kudos for all for sharing their experience and expertise. We are the lucky ones to be recipients of the info no doubt.
you put youreself in a vulnerable postion bending over to pick up a mag. if you have to move suddley you lose those rounds or put yousel in danger to retrieve them. you also jus gave the enemy ammo.
Robert Keller saw more combat then all of those guys combined.
Add Paul Howe to this list as well!!
Do a tac reload or pick up the mag when you have the time and no one is trying to kill you.
Jean Claude does not reload, the gun makes Van Damme sure it has enough rounds.
Much respect for this dude, first of all. I just don't understand his reasoning here. It's consistent with what he teaches on carbine relaods. But how does dropping the mag to the ground, requiring you to get down and pick it up, not take more time and take your gun out of the fight for longer than if you were to swap the mags with both in hand and stow the spent one? To me that's not efficient
Because you'll fumble fuck it up when someone actually has a gun pointed at you. How dexterous do you think your fingers are? How about in winter time when you've been outside a couple hours? How bout when you're wearing 3 layers, a down jacket, and some mittens? God damn I get as pissed as Bob hearing this bs range horseshit on here
I suppose the idea is that you get the gun back into action asap and once things are calm then you can take your time picking up the old mag, otherwise you just forget the mag completely. Or maybe he's more comfortable getting caught bent over with a loaded gun than getting caught fumbling with 2 mags at once.
Because in real world situations when bullets are flying, you wont give a fuck about your magazine. Buy a new one. When he said to pick it, if there is time, then ok....use your head. This isnt for being cool at the range this is to save your life when shit gets real.
This dudes a turd. But you dont double finger a mag. You drop and lock, and rather if you can, if not fucking move on soldier.
If you’re doing a tac reload that means you have the time (and hopefully cover) to proactively get a full mag. If you didn’t have time or cover for that then you would presumably still be firing until the threat was eliminated or you hit slide lock or there was a lull. If you train to retain the mag on a tac reload just a little it’s not that hard to not fumble your way through it. And before anyone comes at me with “fine motor skills”, pulling the trigger is a fine motor skill. Adjusting your grip is a fine motor skill. Hitting the mag release is a fine motor skill. Hitting the slide stop is a fine motor skill. With training it’s not impossible to perform fine motor skills under stress. That being said I’m not gonna give a lot of pushback on just dropping the mag altogether. Dudes definitely legit as f**k but there’s also other legit dudes that retain mags during the reload.
Any method you train you can get proficient enough to not fumble around. Lots of legit guys say keep the mag. This guy is legit and he says don’t. Point being either answer can be right if you train. Personally if I have the ability I’d like to retain those rounds.
🏆🎖
It's a slide lock. Not release.... just fyi...
It's a slide whatever you need it to be lol
Were you in CAG too, or?
Idk how this guy gets paid. His instruction is so juvenile its funny.
Prob gets paid well since he's a Unit legend. Prob has more range time, experience than anyone around
Angus Van Halen Yeah, probably not.
Bob P this guy is a unit operator with 20yrs sof experience
Will Rogers Who isn't a unit operator?
Bob P lol case in point
Love his demeanor.......NOT
