#CandelaObscura #Chapter4 #CrimsonMirror #CriticalRole #DarringtonPress #IlluminatedWorlds - Hry
You die a hero or live long enough to see Percy look like Lord Briarwood
Underrated comment 🤣👏
Liam's DMing and Taliesin's freedom to stop pretending he isnt a reincarnated soul from the victorian era. I wish we had 100 episodes of this.
I CANNOT handle the thought of only having one more episode with this group. Please make this a full campaign!!!!!
I can’t get enough! Such a great table, the GMing from Liam is so fresh and unique. The roleplay is fun and dynamic, ugh!! It’s so GOOD! I’m so happy to see others enjoying it as much as I am. 😏
Laim was born to GM a Candela game. He's so good.
Reincarnated soul assumes he ever died in the first place!
Came for the eldritch horror, stayed for the attempt of making Romeo & Juliet canon in Candela
Romeo & Juliet in Candela = hats in the Burrow's End lol
Find someone who looks at you the way Liam looks at Taliesin when he describes the dinner scene in his apartment.
These two love each other. Whether it’s brotherly or biblically I cannot say. But I have dreams.
Its amazing how Liam just, dissapears, when he plays NPCs.
Also Grimora's "caretakers" sure take their job seriously, their charge goes missing days and the first thing they do when she walks in is chastise her for costing them money.
Somehow I keep getting surprised when the doctor character freaks out because they broke their hippocratic oath, but I still eat that shit up
I've never really liked that trope, no one anywhere has ever sworn the hippocratic oath, most people thought he was a bit of a tool.
@@alexandertiberius1098 I mean it doesn’t make sense for the era but people definitely have “In its original form, it requires a new physician to swear, by a number of healing gods, to uphold specific ethical standards.”
@@squigglemonster2634 no. No medical organisation has ever required this. It's not real.
Liam is so fucking good at this.
And that scene between Leo and his dad - just looking at Taliesin's expression afterwards makes me mildly queasy. Too real, man. Too real.
I love Leo and Malcom comforting Grimoria about her terrible family. One of the most interesting / awful things about Candela seems to be the terrible conditions in which many of their members suffer during their regular lives.
I've never paid much mind before now to how the timelines of the different circles we've seen so far relate to one another, but the couple of Tide and Bone references in this episode now have my head spinning over where in relation to the events of the other seasons this is taking place.
Liam said in the chat that this was a prequel to Tide and Bone.
Beauty of an anthology series. Anything could potentially be retroactive foreshadowing or a stealthy continuation of things we've seen somewhere else if the idea interests the Gamekeeper enough to incorporate it.
Headcanon: My own character Carlos (Weird, human illegally experimented on during the war, a human with the skeletal structure of a lion. According to the papers that didn't burn was supposed to be turning into a sphinx) now lives in the 4th Pharos because of the sheer amount of bleed and brain scars he took during the final battle of Needle and Thread. He uses the claws he grew (causing his nails to fall out first, need that body horror) to carve rocks into baseballs for Shawn's carin. Shawn was the one who rescued him. Candela just kinda lets Carlos live in there because he can't return to the surface as he is now, which is way more fucked up looking, and because he's relatively harmless. Also sometimes they want to poke at him. For science. So he would have probably said "Hi!" to Crimson Mirror.
Further headcanoning: My Tide and Bone duo, Voirrey Irving and Gef (Journalist/Weird, from urban myth you can google them) carried over from Tide and Bone because Voirrey and Gef still want to know what Gef is but didn't want to give up each other for it (The Goddess tested them in the climax of Tide and Bone but they want the answers together, they're best friends.) and Voirrey uses her job at a popular tabloid to cover up some of Candela's workings. Sensationalizing the minor things so nobody looks at the really weird stuff going on. Although she feels out of place in this circle. She is the new girl after all.
Is it just me or is the storytelling in this similar to Dark Souls storytelling? Where you have to gather bits and pieces of lore and connect them together because they aren't explicitly told to us. I love it, this show is SO good
2:08:36 Liam just couldn't resist bringing that Raven Queen aesthetics to Candela haha
When he described that one couple with the man in a mechanical mask with gears on it and the woman with peacock feathers, I was like "Perc'ahlia?"
I love that Liam O'Brien has some references to the previous Candela Obscura. Like he mentions the Antiquarian and talks references an old man (Cosmo) and a puppy following him (probably Gadot).
I was looking for that comment! ❤ I was so happy when he describe that. So I guess this storie take place before the circle of tide and bone.
also Malcolm being a security guard at the Glass Cat and the owner is Cordelia Glask (which was a character from Tide and Bone played by Gina Darling)
I just want to say that I think Liam is an amazing Game Master. He is everything I wish I could be when it comes to running a game.
I think my favourite thing about this chapter is how fleshed out the world feels. Every NPC feels like an actual person to me and I love it!
Agree, agree, agree!! 🙂↕️
I love that organizations and persons outside of Candela are aware of the weird and the bleeds. It fleshes it out and adds more depth to the world; like, absolutely the rich and powerful would hold secret auctions selling weird occult magic stuff!
I love how beautifully INTENSE the parts everything got where Doctor and Leo recalled their past trauma.
Leo and Edgar are two very different people by all means. One is flamboyant, hedonistic, always the center of attention, good at using words to swoon everyone around. One is low-key, plain and simple, socially awkward.
Yet these two share a shockingly similar trauma: losing their sister in a mystical event that seemly changed their life forever, and still haunting them till this day.
So when their pasts caught up to them at the same time, the same place, and they both broke under it, everything just became even more chaotic and intense on top of their life threatening situation.
I’m looking forward to learning more about their backstories, and what their reactions would be when they learned about each other’s past and find out how similar they are.
My favorite part of this episode is when Leo wrote the extra note to Edgar, and Edgar’s reaction to it. 1:50:57 The dynamic between these two is just on point 👌 On the surface it seems these two couldn’t get along so well, as how they themselves admitted, since how different they are, but obviously they care about each other in their own ways.
I’m so glad that Alexander asked about the content of the note, otherwise we would have missed this very cute interaction.
1:48:13 I also like when Edgar told the head of the hospital that he didn’t own him anything. The slight confusion in his eyes and voices was almost like that Edgar didn’t understand why the man would think he owned him a debt. It really just showed how sincere Edgar was, and how he treated “saving other people’s lives” as something that he was supposed to do, not something that he did for favors.
The way Alexander portrayed this character is just, PERFECT.
Damn, Leo's memory of his tragedy was so good!!! Liam asked and Taliesin fuckin delivered.
2:10:50 “You Are Too Much, Taliesin Jaffe”!!!☺️
I'm only 40 minutes away from knowing what you're talking about 😆
This is one of my absolute favorites of anything on Critical Role. Already knew that Liam is an incredible GM and that Taliesin is an amazing actor. But holy Sh!it, what a brilliant performance by Alexander Ward. I still have chills as I write this. Man, hoping he gets invited again to CR. Hands down my favorite guest.
I’m tempted to boot Calamity from the top of my list to be a very close second… Will have to see how the final ep plays out. I LOVE this series.
When Edgar washes his hands? I was spellbound! I hope he comes back!!
@@alwaysleaping Yeah, Calamity was epic!,😊
He wasn't in anything with CR before? Def seems familiar, maybe it's just me
@@dcass1283 Had to double check, and you're absolutely correct. He played in the Elden Ring one shot. Haven't listened to it yet, but Will for sure when I paint tonight 😊😊
Hearing Taliesin describing Leo's alone time, with the cooking and music playing.... made me think Leo is based on Hannibal Lecter. Just me?
Taliesen's performance of Leo's memory made me anxious, amazing
This is an insanely high level of gamemastering! I never thought that someome might ever beat Matt's performance for me but Liam did, and I am almost tempted to say, hands down. Everyone is giving great performance and I really love how the characters' backgrounds tie in but don't deter from the story taking place now, as I felt sometimes with the previous two circles. The only drawback - how am I supposed to fall asleep now, being so thrilled? :D
Break begins: 2:16:39 and Break ends: 2:26:39
That's a nice description of Taliesin's apartment 😊
Love candela SO much. Love the spookiness, the sets, the outfits, the drama, the RP, everything! Switching up the DMs and players keeps things so fresh and interesting. It's cool to see the different DM styles and player dynamics. Eating up every second of this circle so far; can't wait for next episode!
4:56:38 "I'm on the internet, you'll find it" mood
the scene at the Glas Cat is a little tragic as you have two characters of different circles of candela interact for a short amount of time. And this scene seems to be set in a time before what happened to the other circle, from which we know that most them will perish alone in the dark, while the Glas Cat burns down to cinder and ashes…
I like the way this is structured as a series of short adventures rather than the long stories we've seen before that necessitated messing with the rules.
2:32:10 When the die rolls so high, and you cry "Oh my my!", that's Candela
Daaaaamn, Lycoris took a whiplash-inducing turn in that church during the combat...Alexander really pulled out absolutely _all_ the stops at the end there. Every last one.
Now that VOD is back, I expect Flando to jump in with timestamps once again. Welcome back everyone!
An attempt was made, unfortunately it is not the case
@@flandomaltrizian4603 no worries, dude, we get it! just good to know you're still around 👍
@@flandomaltrizian4603 No worries mate, I know you're doing everything you can, you're appreciated either way. It's up to the platform to sort their things out, hopefully soon.
What exactly is the VOD issue? I'm not familiar with this and CZcams
@@flandomaltrizian4603thanks for trying !
I'm just here to express my appreciation for Liam sounding exactly like he could've been Imari's brother IRL
Jesus Christ, Taliesin! What the hell? Just who were you channeling because it was horrifyingly fantastic.
I think Talesin just described his own house. XD
Chat was thinking same
@@karencollins7076 I really want to see what's on his bookshelves. I can get great insight on people based on what books they have. I bet he's got some awesome gets. I'm getting into out of print fantasy /sci-fi
GOD I need the fanart of these characters wearing their masquerade outfit!!!
Taliesin is way too good at describing these kind of fabulous and fancy things I’m so amazed
Jeeez, Liam you have such a great sense of timing and the sounds...truly horrifying in that last confrontation. Overall this is my favorite circle; amazing work everyone!
4:10:00 omg it was such a powerful moment by Liam and Taliesin
Finally caught up last night and I cannot handle the thought of only having one more episode with this group. Please PLEASE consider making more with this circle (and with @voiceofobrien's razor-sharp DMing!)
Bruh, get Imari as a guest on the main campaign, cause he is popping Candela after Candela.
Edit: AND A TRIPLE CANDELA FROM ALEX?
Taliesin's eyes are so beautiful. Just adds to the tragedy.
I love how slay everyone always is in these episodes
Their commitment to the look is what gets me, because I’m terrified to try to “turn of the century” eyebrow look behind closed doors let alone for all the internet to see lol😅
Can you enlighten me as to what slay means?
@@Macaburugaming "fabulous", "extravangantly good looking", not exactly "well-dressed" but something along those lines
Let us all praise Jenny Newman, our lady and savior.
(And HMU is killing it as well!)
I feel like every episode I try to figure out which one of them has to be a vampire, and it changes every time
It's Tal
I am totally in love with all four of them.
We have a connection to Madame Glask?! :O
I am loving this circle! They balance each other out really well.
Alexander is giving me serious young Richard E. Grant vibes and I am so here for it!
Alexander at the end: I’m in the internet I do this sometimes… you’ll find it.” Bashful look away. The most adorable little vampire man ever 😭
Edgar's handwriting defying the stereotype lol
With the way they have set up Candela episodes with them all dressed in character and with how spooky it gets, I feel this show would lend itself very well to being told in front of a live audience. Not a stadium like they did for the MN a few months ago, something more intimate like maybe a black box theater setting that seats no more than 1 or 200.
Love this series, each Candela has been so different. Loving how drawn in I get with just a couple of episodes.
Liam and Tal...IF I EVER CATCH YOU, IT'S ON SIGHT😭 Yall be makimg me scream at work, you gotta warn a guy 😂
Is it just me or is the storytelling in this similar to Dark Souls storytelling?
Where you have to gather bits and pieces of lore and connect them together because they aren't explicitly told to us. I love it, this show is SO good! I neeeeed to know more about this world and The Flare.
You mean a mistery
I just thought of this but I want to see Liam gm a game of Vampire or something similar so bad. Something very narrative and role-play focused, with lots of social intrigue
I love this episode
Taliesen would make for a great film villain.
He's probably happier this way, and I totally support the choice he made to quit (most) on-camera acting as a teenager, but sometimes I do wonder about what we could have had if he'd continued his Hollywood career.
I like how folks costume/makeup updates with each episode depending on how much they've suffered lol
The makeup is so so good!
No offence to the others, but this is by far my favorite Candela group. And Liam is doing great as the gm!
Another amazing bit of storytelling by the whole crew. I love that they embody every element of their characters. Cant wait for the next episode. Also the amount of luck in those rolls was crazy!
The amount of sixes in this episode!!!! The team's in fire!!
Every "Candela..." gave me a rush! It was amazing to see! ♥
Really enjoying the characters that were brought and the story that's being built... Quite a wonderful aesthetic/vibe overall
HELL YEAAAAH, LAST SESSION WAS FUCKING AWESOMEEE
Shoutout to all my Candelabrahs!
Im LOVING candela more than regular CR, i Hope we'll get soooo many seasons of this ToT
Candela Obscura is one of my favorite avenues for horror stories.
Alex let a little Jaspar out there for a min when he read Leo's note. 😂
I love this season so much!
I wander if Leo got kicked out of his family because they assumed that he killed his sister and all of his friends that day. I mean, he was the only one who survived, so he must have been responsible, right?
Why does this sound like Percival Fredrickstein Von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III?
@@susannahmitchell5558 I don't know why it does to you. Percy never got kicked out of his family. He also was never blamed to have anything to do with their death. To me it feels like two wholly different characters and scenarios. I mean, Leo has a deep raging anger against his father and mother, that became very obvious. Percy had nothing like that.
Im halfway into the episode and I can already tell that Taliesin gave the cosplayers the greatest challenge yet (so amazingly done)
1:25:00 Amy and her fckn perfume spritzing just like Opal
...Is Liam my new favorite horror GM
Taliesin Sr., you are a treasure.
I'm only twenty minutes into this episode, but I feel SO sure that Zora will betray them. Her mannerisms are off. The way she says, "No rest for the wicked." The fact her name is ZORA which means "FEMALE FOX" in Spanish. Maybe I'm just reading into things...
So much technology and software and suggestions and yet I have to dig the playlist back up just to get to the next video bc recalling history takes you out of the playlist and into the individual video....which has been completed.
glad to see Alex still has Jasper moments when he hits wAY harder than he means to.
Hashtag Candelabrahs? We were having such a fun time in the live chat and not paying attention to the story in the slightest 🤣
Yes, it is a thing.
I'm kinda in love with this group, it has become Grimoria and her three dads and I think that's perfect
i love this circle with all of my heart and i love the brilliant choices by everyone (but especially alex ward!!!)
Wooooo perfect thing to wake up too yes!
damn you for making me cry before even the first hour mark of the episode!!!! Stupid Malcolm being kind and shit!!
I am excited for the episode and see what happens
Liam's terrific at dm'ing this game! Those descriptions are just so *cheff kiss*
So pumped for this !!!!
Leo might just be my favorite of Tal's characters so far, and that's a tough competition.
I've enjoyed all the CO sessions but this one is just above and beyond. Liam is a great GM and storyteller. I wush this was a full ongoing campaign.
This is amazing! AMAZING! This is the best Candela episode! I love it soooooo much!!!!
I would love to see one of these short campaigns with Matt as a player.
Bloody fantastic
I think Liam should look for a new career in ASMR is voice is so relaxing. Enjoyed the show keep up the good work .
This is perfect for a short animated series.
Looks great!
Liam, excellent work!
I’m hooked!
I can't wait to see the last episode for this vivacious circle! So many secrets
" mask and invitation required" "so I'm not wearing a mask..."
they all roll so well i'm amazed 😁 all the candellas
This is hands down the best DnD I’ve ever seen
I'm late but the episode is already starting great! Excited to see what happens next!
Talisin lookin super spiffy
Is CO not a member exclusive or have they fixed the issue with the episodes appearing in the subscription feed?
Look in the Livestream section
Liam’s speech at the start gives me Sam vibes from the speech he gives at the end of twin towers
These endings are so brutal. I feel for them all so much.
