12:20 Fun Fact: this isnt Mappa! It's the first series of a brand new studio called Bug Films! They got some veterans on their crew, people who've worked on stuff like Komi Cant Communicate and Summertime Render!
Summertime Render* Just a small thing. It's one of the weirdly off translations despite the name being right there in Japanese loanwords ("Sa-Ma-Ta-I-Mu Re-N-Da") But yeah, they worked on Komi and STR before this being their first show that they're fully in charge of. Absolutely incredible work.

The moment akira breaks out of his "cage" and the screen goes full IS SO DANG GOOD!! The animation for this show is amazing and I only hope it keeps the quality. I also just realized this anime is made by a new anime studio!
The color of the blood is because of the manga colored covers, it is not censorship more like creative choice. All of those bags is not only because lacking time but it's a method to fill yourself when u are hoarding during depression, he wanted to kill himself. The anime studio is Bug films, this first chapter is one of the best produced and directed anime episodes i've seen in my entire life.
Exactly. It's representative of his work life having been void of any excitement or meaning, and just draining and destroying him. Compared to that, the zombie apocalypse is a vibrant and beautiful wonderland.
The pre apocalypse 1st half of the episode really hit close to home. It was basically how I lived my life when I was working as 3D Animator for Xebec Animation in Tokyo during the mid 2000s. As a general rule - no one should arrive later than the boss (9 am) and no one goes home before the boss (2 am). So my typical work week was Monday - Saturday (yes sat) 9 am - 2 am. I would sleep in either McDonald's or Wendy's alongside other salarymen, students waiting for Kokubunji station to open at 5 am - go home, take a shower, a power nap and take the train back before 9 am. Rinse and repeat. I was so fkn high on vending machine coffee and sneakers bars just to help me get thru a day.
Do you know if the boss actually worked during those work hours, or was it just appearance? If even the boss worked so many hours, I guess that's an indication of a large work culture problem in Japan as a whole.
@@DoraKage Well then, I guess at least everyone was equally miserable. For real though, that's such a pity that so many workers live life like this in Japan.
The thing is companies blacklist you if you don't finish the contract time so you won't get a job at another decent place so he had to work for so long. Also they used the color pallet of the manga posters to use as censoring which is amazing!! you can easily tell they put love and effort into the anime.
I adore this series. It ditches the whole "zombie survival concept where MC with other survivors try to survive for the sake of keeping civilisation alive" and instead gives us a mostly sane MC who lives off his life to the fullest in the new world after being freed from his hellish office work life in a sane manner (for the most part). I loved how creative this anime is with it's animation and visuals (specially when it blends in rainbow colours with black and white colours indicating what how the MC sees this zombie apocalypse). It also gives me slight "Highschool of the Dead" vibes with just less fan service lol. Overall, a fantastic episode to get us invested in the bizzare world of Zom 100!
Yeah, the only way that he's not sane is that his mental self was completely crushed by that insane job. After having been abused for three years, he's bounced back in this way.

Lowkey wanted Akira to save her since he finally made the resolve to look past her problems and save her😭 i saw someone make a theory saying what if Akira is just in psychosis thinking everyone became a zombie from sleep deprivation and over work so he actually confessed to her right after killing the boss lmao
Fun fact about the place Tendou is working and Bug Films, the studio that animated the show: they based the company off of a real studio that many of the crew at Bug Films used to work at called OLM. The office building is a replica of the real building that OLM works out of and the fictional company name, ZLM, as well as the logo are also a reference to the real world studio. You can practically taste the beef coming from this first episode.
I just finished watching the first ep and all I got to say that this looks amazing. I hate what happened to his crush being a mistress and all that, I'm just glad she isn't a heroine.
Yes, the paint looking things are all blood. Its the fact that he wanted to quit and wanted to die that all of this is so wonderful for him. You can see, as he stumbles upon the first zombie, he unconsciously hopes and knows that its a real zombie, thats why he saw the blood in different colours, but the other things were still black, white and grey until he saw the world burning around and realized it consciously, after which the colours were back in his life. I have a feeling, this series is gonna have a bitter-sweet kinda theme to it from what i saw in the first episode. I'm kinda happy and also sad for the guy.
Had to check this out since it’s from the creator of Alice in borderland and this was immaculate. Best premier of the season and I’m looking forward to more
Black Company or Zombie Apocalypse either way you will end up dead so it is better to live, but that aside did you know after the trailer for the anime there was one for the Dub & a Live Action - Akira is voiced by Suichiro Umeda who also voices Yu (Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie), Sable (The Dawn of the Witch), Milo (Mashle), Pochita (My Life as Inuktitut-san’s Dog), Adam (The Reason Why Raliana Ended up at the Duke’s Mansion), Timol (Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear), Billy & William (Shadow’s House), Sakihito (Too Cute Crisis), & a few more. That black company is bootleg version of OLM studio btw(Pokémon,komi-san, summer time rendering etc) and they throwing shade because the main staff for BUG FILM studio was a former employee and they had to deals with one hell of a shitty schedule back in 2020-2022
Correction 12:20, It is not the MAPPA who animated this beautiful animation. BUG FILMS is the one who animated these series just as (Komi Can't Communicate, Summer Time Rendering, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, etc.)
The colours showed on the zombie's body were used to mean two kinds of things. In 1 hand, they used to mean their happiness was returning back to tendo's life, from the black and white monotonous life And another one is that they could easily hide the blood with the colours to prevent censorship. That is like Einstein iq

Akira doesn’t appear to be a full on animator. He appears to mostly be an office worker. Although to be fair, I’ve heard there’s a decent amount of similarities with the struggles of being an office worker and animator in Japan.
I didn't even think of the MAPPA angle lmao 🤣🤣 If any animator working at such an exploitative company sees this, pls don't wish for a missile drop or a worldwide apocalypse pls, cause I know I'll be dead in the first wave fr.
Y'all gotta understand he's basically messed up in the head (clearly), for three years dude barely slept(about 2 hrs to 3hrs if that)no communication with other people(mostly female especially), and sleep deprivation is a nasty thing to our bodies, and Japan's office jobs are nothing like America's workplace, they overwork, they get sleep deprived for the amount of hours they put in and even if they attempt to take a vacation you have to get approved to take one and you can't just quit and then get a job in the couple weeks just like that this ain't america. Love your reaction though💯
I had 2 thoughts at the end why didn't bro put her out of her misery after saying he loved her and what if this really is all in his head and he just took out his boss gave a love confession and booked it >->
Slave work is one of the reason the op not to work in Japan, they don't treat workers as humans there, workers are treated as robots, even though there are laws that prohibits overtime you'll have to do it because they will literally blacklist you for any posible promotions if you didn't. The bosses will literally work you to death, several workers already died due to overwork and they don't care at all. And my family is mad at me for not working in Japan, because they are blind to reality, life sucks there if you aren't making tons of money.
I came form watching walking dead and I just can’t 😂i know it’s more on the comedic side but it’s just hard to take seriously. Coming grorm seeing walking dead only the physically strong/active survive, Rick grimes a ex cop negan a ex coach. Daryl some hillbilly hunter 😂 Like that’s hit makes sense a average joe that works that 9-5 and doesn’t even workout skinny asf weighing 100lbs ain’t surviving SHIEEEEEEET 😂 Like I’d watch it if the mc was the joker with Harley in a zombie apocalypse. 2 crazy mfs that did crazy shit before the apocalypse no problem they built for this world.
He's a former rugby player, and this is an anime. Akira jumped from the roof of a building and kept going, and then later tackled a big fat zombie out of a window. In other words, he has super strength. Besides that, whatever he can't fight, he can simply outrun. He should be fine.
well Japan is also known for their over working culture especially when it comes to a black company ( they tend to violate the health and mental care of their workers ), it's hard to get a decent job in Japan and after they get in there are a lot of inhuman circumstances inside their working place,The boss and senior in those black company usually use their seniority to make the junior doing most of their work, a lot of conspiracy there happen between the seniors which also make it worst and Ohtori part ( the girl that MC like ) is just usual thing that happen in this type of company. It's also hard to quit because if you just quit and not following the contract they will put you on black list so a lot of company or working place might not accepting your resume when you trying to find a decent work in other place, might ended up working in convinient store which also not the best place to work and low pay job. it's just when they have a job it's very difficult to just quit because a lot of requierment and you need a very good luck to actually get a decent job somehow after you properly quit. This also why a lot of Japanese choose not to be married even after they getting to their 30 or 40, it's just pressure upon presssure on this averages people life
Your comment is totally wrong. The work environment in Japan has improved greatly, and stress at work seems to be higher in the West. I have never heard of people leaving a company and being blacklisted, and Japan's unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the world, as well as this year's mid-career hiring rate is at a record high, so finding new employment shouldn't be that difficult for general people. @@YY-lg5bb well I don't think I'm wrong but certainly Japan is getting better at properly treating the workers there with more programs compare to like decades ago. Well that's what I heard never been in Japan and I actually have friends that work in Japan and he seems pretty fine with the jobs and have a wife in Japan too. We'll see tho how their standards gonna lived up to the data you put there I mean it will shown in their future growth. I don't believe those number until I actually see it in news somehow if they presenting this topics otherwise it will be just a sample from some survey that claim they qualified but it's not completely accurate. Honestly if you speaking about about unpaid or underpaid rate, unemployment, stress and depression level is an overall world problems especially when their demographics of young and old people seems vastly different, there is a lot more older people than younger people in some countries.

Nice video
Blud is litterily asta lmao
Salaar teaser got released its kgf spin off.. got 100 million views in 2 days
I came form watching walking dead and I just can’t 😂i know it’s more on the comedic side but it’s just hard to take seriously.

Like I’d watch it if the mc was the joker with Harley in a zombie apocalypse.

Anyone else wondering why she was their with him
