Which side is best to sit on for better views?

When going westbound, people say it's better on the left. During my trip, I had to move back and forth depending on the view. From 1:30 to 7:30 , you will want to be on the left side

How was the food on Amtrak?

The steak dinner and lemon cake were really good!!! It would be something I would want to order in an actual restaurant. Apart from that, I would buy the microwavable burger from the cafe which would be what you would expect!
