I have said this many times, but the SEGA Saturn made me the Neo Geo fan I am today. The European release of The King of Fighters '95 really opened my eyes to the wonders of SNK's sprite based masterpieces. It also opened up my wallet further on down the road, when I finally went all in on the Neo Geo CD and then ultimately an AES, but that's another story. That said, despite my name, the SEGA Saturn is still my favourite console of them all - Thanks for the amazing video.❤
Same!!! Although I got acquainted with SNK through the Arcades, and then at home with the Super Nintendo, 3DO, and PlayStation, until most recently, the Saturn.
The Neogeo is not a sprite masterpiece, more like a "Maskrom" masterpiece, the Saturn is way more capable than the Neogeo in terms of sprites, its just that Saturn games didn't came in huge maskrom cartridges but in optical media such as the CDRom paired with a small amounts of system RAM (32mbits), proof of that is the Sega STV hardware which is a Sega Saturn that use ROM memory exclusively.

Saturn is a great console for Capcom and SNK games.
Neo Geo foi um monstro! Ele surgiu em 90 na geração do PC-Engine, Mega drive e Super famicom, porém os consoles da geração posterior (3DO, Saturn e Playstation) entregaram uma experiência muito próxima a ele, mas não superaram e apenas a geração Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Game Cube e Xbox foi capaz de superar a experiência dessa maravilha! Nesse comparativo podemos ver que o Saturn trazia uma experiência muito próxima, perdendo alguns frames e alterando algumas cores, mas a jogabilidade não era muito diferente e no geral tínhamos jogos de arcade de muita qualidade e diversão em casa.

Neo Geo was a sprite-based beast and way ahead of its time and lasted the longest. Saturn was also great for sprite-based games and the cartridge made it even more so. Superb comparison video. ♥♥
Yes but at the price it was it was nearly a pointless system.
@@jtlbb2 No, it just wasn't for everyone. A more pointless system would be the Capcom CPS Changer, with it's minimal availability and number of games released for it, but even that has the right to exist. Doesn't have Ghouls 'N Ghosts and some other classics from the arcades, so it's a pass even if i had the money.
@@DancesRainyStreets at 600-700 (in the early 90s which is just insane) and $200-300 per game (again, in the early 90s), it wasn’t for 99% of gamers. Like I said, a virtually pointless system.

Video games in the early 90s were targeting kids and young teens. A demographic that’s not going to be able afford that much money on the system let alone the games. Thats the equivalent of expecting to pay $1400 for a system today and the target for that is kids? Like I said, virtually pointless.
This video is exactly what I've wanted. You do great work! The Saturn (and PS2) seem to be the best alternatives to owning the real thing.

KOF 95 was arcade perfect on Saturn.
All Neogeo-Capcom games would be arcade perfect if they would go that way (special cart with ready game data stored on it) but its was an expensive way to do it.
Costumo dizer que o saturn foi um tanque, um monstro em 2d, e se bem usado realizava feitos impressionantes em 3d também!

Saturn pegou fama de ser fraco em 3d pelos jogos mal feitos devido a complexidade de programação do hardware enquanto o ps1 fazia muito bem o 3D devido sua facilidade de programação…a única vantagem q vejo do ps1 sobre o Saturn são os efeitos de luz q no ps1 são lindos e as camadas de transparência…e só…Saturn quando bem utilizado é superior ao ps1 até msm no 3D…tenho o tekken 3 no ps1 aqui, que é considerado o top jogo de luta 3D dele, e tenho o dead or alive no Saturn…coloco os 2 simultaneamente rodando aqui no mesmo modelo de tv e no mesmo sinal/cabo…tecnicamente o Saturn é bem melhor…textura 3D, fps, e resolução superior no Saturn…tekken 3 é um jogo mais estiloso, músicas mais descoladas etc…mas tecnicamente dead or alive no Saturn é superior…isso é fato…
A SNK limitou o uso de memória RAM no Saturn fazendo um cartucho de 1mb para segura o potencial a onda do Saturn pois sabia que com mais memória RAM o Saturn atropelaria o MVS fácil
já que todos os recursos são superiores só precisando de memória RAM para humilhar os rivais.
Siempre lamenté que mi juego favorito Fatal Fury 3 no usara el cartucho de ram para optimizar el rendimiento del juego... 😢 aún asi es un juegazo.
Uma pena já que com um bom Cartucho de RAM o Saturn da uma surra em placas da família neo geo CD CDz AES E MVS a própria SNK limitou o Saturn com um cartucho de 1mb e olha que esse jogo nem cartucho usa e ficou quase pau a pau imagina com um cartucho de 2.5 ou 4mb seria um baita surra nas placas da neo geo.
It's interesting that they completely remade the horse racing games, whereas the rest (for the most part) are basically 1:1 ports. I wonder if there's a reason they had to remake those from scratch, dev assets lost perhaps?
In some games for Saturn, it like the whole screen has a bit of a blue tinge, and for some Neo Geo games, the whole screen looks kinda faded in comparison.
Other than that everything seems identical. When I was a kid, gaming mags frequently pointed out how Saturn was a 2D gaming powerhouse and destroyed PS1 when it came to multiplatform releases in that regard... the number 1 reason I always wanted one, but alas, as a kid my potential to acquire any systems I wanted was limited. And when I saw the price of a Neo Geo I immediately gave up the idea of getting that... and I still need to get one, lol.

Hahahahaha... Geese e seu grito malicioso "D@ @ bund@ pro Gen". Joguei muito Waku Waku 7 no emu de arcade e, infelizmente, quando vi a versão saturn, não deu pra gostar. É loading pra tudo, os sprites são estranhos. Acho que foi mais problema de port, do que de limitação de hardware. Fatal Fury, os KOF e os Samurai, não parecem tão estranhos. Otimo video, muita saude e sucesso!

Also the Saturn versions of Real Bout Fatal Fury Special and King of Fighters' 97 stood out visually.

They are indeed really close, however it sounds like the sound effects sound a bit clearer on the Neo Geo whereas they sound more a bit more compressed on the Saturn on some games. However BGMs seem identical between each versions.
😮 gracias por tus videos , es importante que las nuevas generaciones se enteren que en su momento era tan difícil saber que juegos salían para saturn que por eso todo mundo quería la NEOGEO AES o la neo geo CD( que era una porquería sinceramente) de haber existido las redes sociales entonces creo que saturn no hubiera sido tan negado😢 , pues el éxito de una consola se debía más a publicidad que al poder de harware, y entonces Playstation estaba tan lleno de publicidad y piratería que era como dicen por ahí " una 💩envuelta en bolsa de oro" y neogeo tenía gran popularidad por sus arcades, pero sin duda estos juegos eran una buena razón para elegir un saturn en lugar de un lento Playstation o un super lento neogeocd o un excesivamente caro AES,

Bem igual, única diferença é nas cores que as vezes estão mais quentes para um e mais fria para o outro.
La NeoGeo era una bestia a pesar de ser 4 años más antigua
Paleta de cores? Ponto pro NeoGeo.
Frames por segundo? NeoGeo de novo.
Sons e música? NeoGeo também.
Mas uma coisa não posso negar: as conversões eram praticamente perfeitas.

Its funny because sometimes the neogeo had more washed out colors, then it flips to the saturn colors being more washed out.
It's funny but Karnov's Revenge and Galaxy Fight both appear to be washed out on the Saturn, and then every game from Fatal Fury III onwards, the opposite appears to be true.
Maybe just down to the intricacies of RGB output and color representation/correction between the two consoles?
Anyway, the Saturn it seems to me more than held its own on these conversions, with the biggest differences probably coming down to the AES' cartridge format, and the load times the Saturn's CD media would make requisite... That, and how much cheaper these games were on the Saturn at the time. ;)

é uma pena q nessa época as pessoas estavam eufóricas com jogos 3d e o ps1 faziam melhor esse trabalho, se não o saturno teria muito mais jogos em 2d e poderia ficar até mesmo com mais tempo de vida do q o ps1 já q ele possuía o incrível cartucho de 4 megas de ram, acho q daria até pra lançar marvel vs capcom 2!!!

e claro que a versao ng ganha no tamanho dos personagens e animaçoes , mais a conversao para o saturn ficou bem competente , o cartucho do ng tem mais poder que o cd utilizado no saturno, o ng e um arcade caseiro , e claro que vai levar a melhor sobre o saturn

Saturn e superior em tudo a SNK foi obrigada a limitar o Saturno com um cartucho de 1mb já que a SNK sabia que não podia colocar um cartucho maior que 1mb porque sabia que o Sega Saturn atropelaria

Sega Saturn era mais poderoso que a MVS veja o porque a própria SNK limitou o Saturn com um cartucho de 1mb e olha que com o cartucho de 1mb já fica muito próximo da MVS agora imagina com um cartucho de 2.5MB ou 3MB ou 4MB seria um atropelo até porque todos os recursos no Saturn são superior a MVS resolução cores simultâneas
Poder de processamento draive de CD.2x precisando só de um bom cartucho de RAM coisa q a SNK não fez para segurar o poder do Saturn
em relação as placas MVS veja um exemplo o jogo X-men vs Street fighter que faz uso do cartucho da Capcom de 4mb faz o Saturn Chegar ao nível da cps2 q é levemente mais poderosa q a MVS
o Saturn fico tão poderoso quanto a MVS X-men vs Street fighter para Saturn não tem loading isso prova de uma vez que o Saturn já era capaz de superar a MVS AES neo geo CDz e neo geo CD lembrando q a SNK também limitava fazendo uma programação reduzida diminuindo as vozes e reduzindo o tamanho das músicas por exemplo só para fazer parece que o neo geo CD ou MVS podia bater de frente com Saturn mas eu sei que não podia neo geo MVS ja era obsoleta e ultrapassada Saturn Wins.
