Thank you very much Shifu. I notice that some of the movements (especially the second set of movements) look like part of san chin. The cup movement you made looks like something from the Juche form of ITF Taekwon-Do as well. I'm learning a lot from you. Thank you very much.
Two questions come to mind, though. First, how do you keep all the applications straight in your head? is there some set of underlying principles you use that were, perhaps, also used to create the form? Or is it just familiarity brought on by informed practice? Second, how does one practice the applications?
I feel like it should be practiced via two man sets where you work each individual technique with a partner from the viewpoint of being on the inside and then the outside of common attacks, example, swings/haymakers, jabs, cross, pushes, takedowns, stuff like that.
When you've understood and can apply an individual technique..then..you move on to the other techniques in the form..mastering them in the same way? Learning them and then revisiting them..learning and revising your knowledge as you go?
I'm asking your advice here..i would not presume to tell you how to practice..I'm just trying to inform my own practice. I am in awe of your knowledge and very grateful for your kindness in sharing your precious insights.
Finally, can you do a video explaining or giving application of, the, 'Three Bows to the Buddha' move in Wing Chun?
Thanks very much for your time and attentions, Shifu.

Chinese combat is the Original MMA. Hundreds of styles, developing and fighting against each other, for over 2000 yrs... which pushed the technology to the highest of levels. Todays MMA is a mere shadow of the real deal. I have 28 yrs of martial arts experience, spanning many arts, including many Chinese combat arts, everything you see in MMA, and a lot more. I used to spar MMA fighters, as well as have them over to train. None were able to land a single hit on me. What they are taught, simply does not compete with high level combat methods... when these methods are fully mastered, and used properly.
MMA today, is nothing but bits and pieces of already sportized arts. It further waters them down, by removing the traditional training that gives these techniques greater power, speed, accuracy..etc. Then it goes even further, adding in padded gear, wrist wraps, a rubberized floor, and over 40 banned techs. It also negates any weapons use and defense... nor does it teach how to deal with multiple attackers, let alone, fight out of your weight class. I used to spar fighters that tended to be up to and over 2x my own mass and strength... to make sure my techs and abilities would work properly in real life combat. Initially... these fighters would laugh at the 150lb skin and bones fighter... but after getting severely outclassed... they would shake my hand, and aske me tons of questions about what I learned, how long...etc.. and often.. Id get the: "Would you please teach me?"
The thing is... most people today are too lazy to be competent fighters. Even the MMA fighters Ive had over... couldnt keep up with my mere 1hr core workout routine.. and I was often 5 to 10yrs older than them. Then Id ask them to do something like hit a hanging bag filled with nearly 20lbs of steel BBs... with their bare fist... and they looked at me like I was crazy. A few mild hits, and their non-conditioned baby-fists, were stinging with pain.. and they wanted no part of it.
One of my training session examples: I put on hard-leather bottomed dress shoes, and heel/instep kicked a tree as hard and fast as possible... for non-stop 15min sets. 4 sets, with less than 2min between each set. So basically... a little over 1hr, of near nonstop kicks, at the highest speed and impact possible. At each impact, the foot stings, and the sound of the kick echos across the neighborhood. That was done every other day, for like 3 months. (in addition to a lot more)
If you think a heavy bag can develop the kind of power and impact capability that the above training describes... you are delusional.
I used to train 365 days a year, at minimal... at least 4hrs each day (Often more). At that pace and intensity level... I was nearly untouchable to the local artists by my 3rd year. By my 5th year, I reached full Masterclass level output... including KO (and much worse) power with less than a 3 inches of travel. I used to KO disrespectful fighters off my mostly extended lead guard hand, with less than 20% of what I was capable of delivering... every time, with Ease.
Sorry... but your "Heros", are low level sportsman, playing a "Game".
Some of them are expanding beyond the low tier stuff that fanboys like you, discredit, without any knowledge and experience with. But those guys are very rare... as it seems far too many people in todays world... are mere mindless NPC Lemmings.

@@johndough8115 @John Dough.... With due respect, i wud like to add that, what u said is very true... Chinese Kung Fu is actually battle tested lethal Martial Art forms.. Original versions of MMA.. But I also see similiarities of forms n styles in Ancient African, Babylonian n Hebrew MArts.. I think Africa is the birth place of all Martial Arts, which then spread all over Asia n the world... In fact any kingdom which resisted being conquered n ruled for centuries is by standing on the shoulders of warriors... But i always evaluate the effectiveness of any MArt form n its techniques based on a woman's perspective, mentality n body structure.. Whether a weaker female can apply those techniques to defend themselves against a stronger, bigger man and even destroy them.. Women have softer body, bone density n tissues.. Their body is filled with Estrogen not male Testosterone... So they should not do any kind of training which increases their Testosterone n makes them look Masculine.. The techniques itself should be good enough, irrespective of brute physical strength or rough hands/leg conditioning... Their feminine entity should remain intact, yet lethal n effective in the fighting form.. Wing Chun is one such style in that direction, designed by a lady as the legends say... Russian Systema is another such art.. Another such are Pressure Point based Kyusho Jitsu (Japan) or Varmakalai/Adi Marma, developed by the Siddhas of South India.. Where least amount of force or body power is required.. MArts should be effortless in style yet destructive in nature.. I dont care if a tall big WWF wrestler knows MArts at all... He doesn't even need it at all.. He can pickup a person by his collar n throw him away.. Martial Arts was designed, researched n developed by the monks, who were of slight built n smaller in size... It was actually meant to protect the weaker people... Sorry for my verbosity, but researching is the way....!! 🤗😄🙏🙏💮

@@maitreyand7876 Part 3: Realism. First, I highly recommend watching one of the most important films for any martial artist "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin". Unlike many other films.. I recommend the English Dub, as its much more fun, funny, and fitting.
In it, you will see an approximation of how life was really like for a Chinese man, to train in Kung Fu... most especially, In Shaolin. (but many other arts trained similarly brutally)
If you think these dudes were small, weak, fragile men... think again. Training at this level since they were 3yrs old.. by the time they reached 20... they were Beasts.
While some of their bodies might not look as robust as others... their INTERNAL strength, is much greater than people can imagine. They have developed a much higher level of tissue and bone density. Their Iron Body skills, are able to take hits from pro boxers, for example.. with almost no effect nor pain, at all.
Also note.. that while Shaolin tends to be powercentric.. (hard style), is also has Internal soft-methods, at its highest levels. This is true of virtually all Chinese combat arts, AFAIK.
If you think such fighters would have easily been defeated by a smaller, unfit, female... Im sorry... but you are dreaming.
She would have had to be in TOP shape. She would have had to have developed a Solid Core. Good arm strength. And a well conditioned bone state. Most females wrists will easily fold on impact of an average mans body. They will hurt their knuckles and wrists, and wont even effect a large man at all.
You may think otherwise, if you, yourself have never trained hardcore enough to gain high density protection. Such as your weak female classmates strikes feeling painful to you. But that same female, would be very much unlikely to phase me at all... due to my hardcore Iron Body training.
I used to be 6ft tall, at about 145 lbs. At the time, I had a 31" waistline, and you could see every rib on my body. After training hardcore.. I got over a 32" waist, and bumped up over 155 lbs. (all muscle mass and bone density increases)
While my body shape doesnt look that impressive from an external clothed view... I can tell you that Im FAR more stronger than I look. I used to move 450 lb arcade machines up and down staircases by myself. Ive also ate strikes from masterclass level fighters, that would have "Ended" the the former me.
When I first started sparring (larger and stronger OPs), I was easily beaten, and walked away with plenty of bruises and injuries. It took quite some time, to fully master WC to the point of being able to use it in the more realistic ways.. in Heavy power, full speed, sparring matches.
While its true, that me trying to use brute strength against such fighters, never would have worked... and that proper soft-style techs can easily dispatch a strong attack force... its also true, that if I was not as fit and conditioned, I never would have gotten to that point, and I certainly would not have been able to easily Harm such fighters, if at all.
If you think otherwise.. I ask you to do what I did. Go out to various Dojo's, and find out when they are having an Open House sparring session, so you can test your resolve. If they dont offer any locally... then ask the various students after class, for a friendly match.
See if you can maintain perfect Wing Chun FORM in high speed combat... without failing... and looking like a sloppy basic kickboxer. See if you actually have KO power in your short range punches.
See if you actually know how to deal with a heavy Muay Thai kick, with the proper leg fencing movements. And or a masterclass level kicker, that could kick you in the chin and set back down, before you even realized you had been rocked.
Wing Chun is a High Level Combat art. There are no Short-Cuts to being a realistically capable, Combat fighter. This isnt a fantasy universe, where physics and attributes, no longer apply.
There is a reason why very few woman practice the combat arts. And those that do... always tend to stick to a certain weight class. And or, stay fighting their own gender.
Very few artists in Wing Chun circles have every FULLY Mastered any of what they have been taught. Most of them have never sparred... and or, have never sparred outside of their mass and strength class. And when you see many that do spar... all of their trained "FORM" goes out the window... as they end up looking like a sloppy kickboxer. (and they make excuses about how the form is not meant to be exacting... which is COMPLETE BS).
As such... the internet is FULL of videos of poor quality WC practitioners (and teachers) getting defeated with ease, by very low tier sport artists. Its embarrassing. But it is because of poor attitudes, and ignorance's, like you have presented here.
Again... watch the 36th Chamber. And do the physical tests for yourself. Having some equalizers, do not instantly equate to an easy victory. Especially if none of them are fully mastered.

Heyy John Dough... U sort of wrote an essay out of nothing... It seems ur way off topic... u did not get my point at all, n wrote a lot abt ur own practice regimen, which i give a damn... I myself am trained in multiple hard n soft style Martial Arts n iam also a Researcher n occasional teacher in this.. I talked abt some Ancient origins of MArts n Self Defense n Combat techniques from Women's point of view, in case of a Street assault by a bigger rowdy.. How good is her System techniques, irrespective of using Physical Strength.. n her training methodology keeping a natural feminine constituency n gender in mind.. Mostly biological impact of certain training for a female, which a male can easily do.. N also the attitude.. Like 2males Wrestle, but why should a female wrestle n make frontal body contact with a dirty burglar.. N things like that, which can be avoided by using alternative techniques... We know if a Male of average size trains hard, he will toughen up n become a Beast with ripped muscles.. But what kind of training should a female have.. We don't want them to turn like Beasts after training... She should still be skillful n an effective fighter... Utalk like a ring fighter.. A Serious Martial Artist will never hit an innocent, have no inclination for ring fight or unnecessary sparring, and will cultivate his Art throughout his life.. He may never need it himself, but use it to protect others... N u talking of the film 36 Chambers of Shaolin starring perhaps Gordon Liu, i have seen it several times along with many Classic Kung Fu movies... The DVDs are lying somewhere in my desk for long... Do u think 36 Chambers are nos of Hotel rooms...?? These are the 36 Vital Kyushu Points if the human body along with 72 others... A total of 108 Point System, derived from Accupuncture n Similiar Healing Systems... I myself deal n research in this System n many other styles... Keep Researching John Doe...!! 😎😶
