I wonder if the huge brads were used on leather horse harnesses? Be the right size!! Great finds! My favorite was the "alligator skin" book. 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks, Kimberly. That’s an idea about horse harnesses. Whatever it was used for I’m guessing the legs of the brads were covered with something unlike little paper brads.

Thanks, Diana. I have such a weakness for MOP buttons, buckles and pins. I’m finding MOP pretty easy to find here (more the everyday stuff than the highly carved fine stuff) perhaps because a city not too far away, Muscatine, was a real hub for getting shells out of the river and punching out the buttons. I’ll definitely be visiting the museum there this summer!
