      Born & raised in Houston, and no disrespect to Rudy, he was a great motivating coach and he knew how to rile the team up. But as a coaching mind and creating offensive opportunities?? compared to other coaches (phil jackson), he was LIGHT YEARS behind. The Rockets only strategy even after Drexler arrived was to throw it down to Hakeem and let him work or kick it out for a 3 when double teamed. This strategy definitely WORE OUT Hakeem during the championship runs, all while Jordan got 2 years of rest. You can tell by the significant decline in Hakeem’s production from the 95 season to 96 season.

    Jordan is the GOAT no doubt about that. But man, watching those Rockets 1995 mentally tough team it would have been a difficult match up for the Bulls. How could they have been able to confront that version of Hakeem. Even if they double team Hakeem somebody else would have been free to make the damage

    • @granvillewalkerjr.8394
      @granvillewalkerjr.8394 Před 3 měsíci +2

      Agreed. Even Jordan himself stated in an interview that his Bulls had no answer for the big man. With Grant gone to Orlando and no solid replacement to create an effective double team on Olajuwon, the Rockets would be a hard team to stop.

      As a Texan and a UH grad this was awesome, but they wouldn’t have beaten the Bulls had Jordan not stepped away from the game when he did. Hakeem would have had great games against the Bulls, but not enough to overcome Jordan.

      Fr the Bulls had no good big men in 1995 even if they had made the finals Rockets would have won because Hakeem would have dominated down low. He dominated against Horace Grant and Shaq so he would have been even more lethal vs Luc Longley and Bill Wennington lol.

      No one knows that and it’s ridiculous to think otherwise. Maybe the Rockets still win those championships, maybe they win only one, or maybe none. What we do know is that Jordan is on record as saying that his Bulls had matchup nightmares against them and the Rockets were the only team to have a winning record in the regular season against the Bulls in the 90’s.

      @@ericmoralez390 in the two years Jordan was gone 93-94 & basically 94-95 they were 2-2 v Houston. Houston was not beating the Bulls in 94 with Jordan and they still had Horace Grant. 95 would have been tough with no Grant but maybe Grant stays if Jordan is still around and doesn’t leave for Orlando.

      Grant or no Grant, Hakeem would have had all the bulls bigs on the bench in foul trouble with no one to stop him. Even with Jordan, the rockets had a guy by the name of Vernon Maxwell “mad max” who could consistently slow down MJ and make him work for his points. Either way it’s fun to talk about all these hypotheticals, but unfortunately we’ll never know. It’ll always be one of the NBA’s biggest what ifs 🤷🏻‍♂️
