There won't be another one like him. Billy Squier's music will live on and resonate with those who truly appreciate classic rock. Many moons ago during the great conquests, I was with my soon to be favorite wife. Billy & the band did an outdoor show in Tulsa on the river. I talked the now Mrs. Clark into going & we had seats down close. She had no idea of what to expect but when the 1st band started up, she was shocked at the volume. I said, "This is nothing." & handed her ear plugs. She suffered thru that but when Billy hit the stage it was deafening. The show was amazing & I loved it, but Mrs. Clark was in pain. She lasted, but said never again. 2 years later we were in Norman, OK for the Stones "Bridges" tour, 10 rows back center. I again got out the ear plugs which she used, but this time she boogied, dancing in the isles & into the mood. Now we're 70 & listen to quiet music on the educational channel. Hey Billy. So I remember the security guard at Nassau Coliseum held the door open so me, my girlfriend and about twenty people could listen to the show standing in the cold. I never forgot it. What a wonderful memory. Could a 18yr old kid with a 17 yr old girlfriend ever have a better night in his life. So thanks for that. I still listen to your records and yes I make my kids and their friends listen along. They keep asking is this new music. Be well. Your music still is so great and a real joy to listen to.
The first time I ever heard of Billy Squire was about 1980 or so when he was playing one of the "Rock Superbowl" stadium concerts. None of my friends riding down to the concert knew anything about him either and being the buttheads we were, we kind of made fun of his name like it wasn't cool enough or something, figured he probably sucked. Let me tell you we weren't making fun of him on the way home. Billy Squire was apparently one Hell of a Rocker - put on a better show than a couple big name acts. I've known and respected his name ever since!
