YESSSSS CELLOS FINALLY GET A GOOD PART, but lets also talk about the bass part to cause its better than what basses usually get (I am both a cellist and bassist)
Seriously. I became a cellist in 2019-2020 in my sixth grade year and this is my second year and I am finally enjoying my parts because this song has interesting parts for the instrument
Hey! As a fellow second violin, I also like this piece. The thing about seconds is they never get the melody. Most of the time the firsts get the conductors attention more of the time...
Hey fellow seconds!!! This piece was rather easy for me as a second violin but for the others it wasn't. They screwed up so bad to the point where I was the only one playing the right notes in the concert...
Must've been interesting, huh? I'm a freshman in high school right now so I'm still trying to get used to everything going on. (Good thing Night Shift is just a really fun song)
that’s so cool!! i listen to this from time to time just for the nostalgia purposes, really brings back when i first heard it and fell in love with being in an orchestra. never will forget it!!
Bassist here, my fellow bassmates and I absolutely loved playing this song when we were in middle school (we're seniors in high school now) Bless you Richard Meyer for creating such a bop
Richard Meyer is such a middle school staple tho, nearly all my middle pieces were by him! I didn’t get to pay this song, but some of my friends did and they really liked it!
My brother played this once for orchestra class and it brought tears to my eyes~ he played Cello. I play Violin now and hopefully I can play just as amazingly as he did!
I'm in high school orchestra (1st time playing violin ever!!!) and we're playing this!! It's pretty dang hard for me!!! I absolutely love when the bass and cello have this specific part they play together... it sounds beautiful!! Ah, wish us luck!! :O
We're actually on a song that the teacher says is really hard, but the villas have the melody. I'm so happy because the violins think they are the best, but we play it way better than they do. They just don't give us the melody because We would outshine the violins.😆
I'm so excited Richard Meyer is coming to my school tomorrow and conducting the Ventura county honor band for their rehearsal in the music room at my school! I'm in string orch but our music teacher said that we can go and watch them rehearse in small groups while we are next door in another room watching a movie.
Never really appreciated this song till 12th grade. Was laying in bed one morning and had a urge to listen to it and boy do I miss being in orchestra. Sadly had to give it up my 10th grade year 2nd semester so I could pursue my military career. But I miss orchestra it was such a big part of my life and I would give up a lot of things to go back and be able to be apart of a orchestra again. ( I played double bass just in case anyone reading this comment is wondering) 🥺🥺😭😭😭
Found this piece in middle school and encouraged my orchestra to play it. I'm a graduating senior now, going into violin performance! This piece still makes me feel all the same feelings I felt back then. Mysterious, dramatic, yet slightly melancholic with a hint of hope... Gorgeous piece. 😊😊
I feel like. Violas are underrated. Violins and Violas share 3 of the same strings, and one different. I'm a Violinist, and I think Violas are the most unique. To play the generic high notes on a violin from a Viola, all you have to do is shift. I especially like how in this song, Violas have the main melody. It should be like that in more songs and more people should play Viola.
This brings back so many 7th grade memories, especially since it was the last song we played at our last 7th grade concert :'D I loved playing this song, and now hearing it again after a year of not hearing/playing it I feel so HAPPY~~~
I've yet to find anyone who so much accepts the viola as an instrument in my school. The best part is all of the violas in my orchestra are better than the violins.
Where are my basses!!!!!! I am a bass and our school out of a 250 people orchestra there are only 12 basses!!! We are endangered orchestra members!!!! Where y'all at??? ❤️❤️

SO TRUEEE (lol the band kids I know are so obnoxious)
Orchestra>band
Fr and orchestra is just better (especially bc piano)
Facts!
Yes! Whenever my orchestra does a performance for my school everyone focuses on Band.
Another day, another blistering hand from shifting on the E string...
Try getting to that point on the A instead of the E. There you have the violas
