I saw a kid scream at a woman once as she had most of her left arm amputated. She raised her arm and looked at it, then screamed too. The brat's mother was just aghast that someone could prank her perfect angel, and yours truly was laughing. The lady just looked over at me, smiled and winked.
2:30 Children are brilliant at making things awkward. I was swimming once and I looked over and saw this little girl, about four walking away with my fake leg. By the time I caught up with her she had found her dad and was trying to give him my leg and jabbering in French. Her dad was doing his best to get away from her, I think in a full blown panic attack. Turns out the kid was French and saw my leg on the pool deck. She was trying to tell her dad someone "forgot" his leg and he had to find that person as quickly as possible. Great video! Truly helpful. My mother is in a wheelchair and has been for almost 15 years now. We get the looks, stares, stares with quick turn aways, awkward go in for hugs and not surehow to finish it and more...

I really do admire you, people even tho they aren’t quad amputees can really learn from you. Including myself. So glad you make videos to educate people with your condition.
people should raise their children knowing that some people look different and introduce them to photos of amputees so that when they first see someone who is an amputee irl they don’t act all weird? like they just know that some people are like that !!
Christina Rankin yes! and wheelchairs, crutches, etc! i remember once as a kid i was using crutches after having surgery on my foot, and while i was at my library i heard another much younger little girl ask her mother what they were why i was using them. her mom, likely embarassed and undereducated herself, quickly told her not to point or stare at me and not to ask any questions. being rather young myself i was so familiar with that feeling of unanswered curiosity, so i went over and explained what the crutches were, why i had them, and that i absolutely didn't mind if she had any questions because i would much rather people learn than wonder and sneak glances. her mother did thank me, but i do also think she felt a bit awkward herself considering i was an 11/12 year old disabled girl telling her not to be so shy about asking questions, haha!
As well as photos people should just have more to read, watch etc from the perspectives of disabled people of all kinds. Photos probably wouldn't help, since someone who's never experienced anything similar would just be like, omg I could never live like that that's tragic! Or something. 😑
Super late replying to this comment, but this is totally true. When I got my rescue puppy 3 years ago, part of the guidance I was given was to make sure and introduce him to lots of different things he will have to be around for the rest of his life. And there are tons of lists online - people with beards, people with glasses, hats, walking sticks, crutches, wheelchairs, bikes, prams/pushchairs, tall people, small people, children, cars, big vehicles (trucks, buses, etc) etc! And once they have been introduced in a positive way, they learn not to be afraid/wary of those things as they get older. (In theory, this all works, but obviously, each case is different). But why do we not apply the same principles for children - teach them about people with different skin colours, disabilities, different countries/cultures/religions? It wouldn't be a perfect solution, but it would go a long way to helping children realise that there are lots of people out there who look different than they do :)
You should seriously think about a career in presenting when you leave school....youd be great as a children's tv presenter to start with. You sound and look like great presenter already!
Finding humour in this is the only way to deal sometimes. I can’t use one of my hands so if someone says something to me like “do you need a hand” my instant reply is usually some joke “literally or figuratively ?” But you have to be so careful with who you can joke with otherwise people apologise and act like they just offended your honour or some shit ! The “you’re an inspiration or so brave” comments are so complicated because you know that it comes from a good place but it often just feels Odd in the situation but maybe I’m just confused and carrying a cup of water is inspirational If so, if anyone did manage to carry their OWN cup of water today, I am so proud of you! You’re my inspiration!!
The most awkward situation i've been dealing with recently was in shoes store asking for some help and the saleswoman just goes like 'I broke my wrist earlier this year it wasn't so hard doing thing one handed with the cast...' i'm amputated just below my right elbow and it makes me really mad to be compared to an broken arm lol. So i gave her my prosthetic arm and asked if it looks like a cast then if she think my arm was broken ? It was super awkward moment :D Btw it was an super good and i've reconized myself in lot of case :p (edit) I aggreed that the way i write it might be confusing. She didn't said this in a way to make me comfortable it was more like 'you should be able to do this by yourself because i was able to do this with my cast' she was clearly pissed off. So my reaction was maybe asshole for you but honestly i would have never did something like this to someone trying to understand or being cool with me :p
Don't worry, the original comment made sense, I think that person misread. Employees should NEVER behave like that. I hope you spoke with the manager or even corporate, she deserves to be fired 😠
Neptune No i didn't guess we can all have some bad days even if it was stupid from her comparing things you can't compare but i think she understood clearly now ;)
It’s funny, I am black and I get staring sometimes when I am with my husband who’s white! I get what you’re saying, being stared at is not cool! With the comments, some people are pathologically sadistic. There is not much you can do to change them I am afraid, they are mentally unwell. I know it’s not gonna help, but just ignore them!
@@miriamcarrasco3273 or maybe they have poor communication skills whithout being "ill" like people in the autism spectrum. I thik it's really funny how people always have to discriminate someone to include someone else.
I loved this video! Loved the skit format! Thank you for letting us know that if someone starts to shake your hand it’s okay to shake your arm (I was wondering about that). You are so beautiful and have such a wonderful attitude!! You are such an inspiration to me!!! Thank you!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
You are truly breathtaking!! Really like watching your stuff. You seem like you'd be such good company, thanks for sharing some of yourself with all of us strangers :)
I think you are doing something VERY USEFUL!!! My baby brother had cerebral palsey, and he did not mind if children stared at him, but if adults did and kept it up, He would put them in their place. He couldn't talk, however, he could yell and out stare anyone. He was a FANTASTIC BROTHER. Like your own brother. You two must be a grat joy to be around.
People like myself (retired health care professional) can take a 2 second glance and instantly know what likely happened, and we don't feel a need to ask foolish questions. Unfortunately the general public out numbers us. Infections leading to Sepsis and extended time on a Respirator can wreak havoc on a person. I'm happy to see you pulled through it, are doing well, and have a great perspective on things. Hugs from the USA!
Izzy, I can't believe how young you are! You are so beautiful and very very wise. You genuinely have more people skills, life experience and humour than people twice your age. You have a super engaging, very informative. I adore your videos!
The most awkward question to get asked when you have divorced parents is, "Why did your parents get divorced?" First of all, it's not your business, it's not even really my business. Second of all, why would you want to know? It's just such an awkward and impolite question, yet you'd be surprised how often people ask me
People ask me astonishingly often if I hate my dad now (why? Also, what makes the thing that my dad broke up?) and how I get along with them fighting all the time (they don't and never did so in front of me...) and how I feel about it (and won't even believe it when I tell them I'm fine with it) and all of that sometimes by people I don't even really know. Oh, and that "two birthdays/Christmases" goes on my nerves as well, and of course that WHYYYYYY? question.
Hmm I have the same case but a bit different I get stared at cause my ear is ripped people say what happens to ur ear and I feel uncomfortable about it
Isabelle, you gave a great presentation, it's good that you brought it forth in a lighthearted fashion... I have a friend who lost half of his right hand (years before I met him). When we first met, he just stuck it out there to shake hands. When I hesitated awkwardly, he smiled and said, "go ahead, it's okay!" So I grabbed what was left of his hand and we shook, and I felt more comfortable around him after that. We need more people like you and him, helping folks to be less awkward meeting those of us who have had "structural alterations". Thank you!
"Id feel singled out if they changed what everybody said to be nice to me" That statement is something alot of people need to learn . I hope you keep that great attitude and never change.
We live in a world with no empathy or acceptance, as a kid I was scared of the unknown. Sadly education is so poor people is rude when they don’t know, as a person who has a malformation in the face I can tell people is so rude but I kinda accepted that already cuz they don’t care about the person. You are an inspiration, love you
I can relate to what you said about people saying or doing something and then making it more awkward by being a little over dramatic about it trying to apologize. I don't have amputations, but I do have health issues that stop me from being able to certain things. I usually make a joke or laugh and tell them to chill. I tend to let it bother me or deal with my emotions after I am alone. Just do you girl, that is all you can do.
I can relate on the kids reactions one. I'm trans and present quite androgynously so kid's STARE and laugh and make comments. They're kids so it's not their fault but it's still not fun at all. Love this video!
This video was a real eye opener. My heart goes out to you, Isabelle, and you seem to embrace life and not allow your situation to control you. I wish you all the best in everything. I hope you have the most awesome life :)
First time watching. I’d have to say your a hell of a woman. Smart and not playing a victim like half the planet right now. Keep it up. Looking forward to the next video.
I’m ex-British Army, did a long time actually, saw lots of things good and bad, saw lots of bravery, but by god you’re one courageous young woman. Much admiration. Wishing you a good New Year.X
The staring thing always makes me nervous because I have a tendency to drift out of my surroundings and unconsciously stare at something, and I'm always so scared that I might be staring at someone and that I'll be perceived as rude.
Its great your so strong and im just glad you give others who maybe isnt as strong as you more confidence to be brave enough to feel that the are perfect the way they are. The world is how it is, sadly not always understanding and can be very dark and ugly. People like you light it up and the world needs more kind of people such as yourself. Have a supremo day!
I just wanted to say you are the most Brave person on CZcams and you are such an inspiration to other amputees and I feel bad for you even though you don't like it when people feel bad for you my all-time biggest fear is getting my arm or leg amputated I don't know why it scares me so much it just does you are so beautiful and strong and I hope you live the rest of your life happy and healthy you are an amazing person I saw this video on my recommendation and I didn't mean to click on it but I guess I did by accident LOL but I am glad that I did I hope this comment somewhat made your day better keep going keep being strong you are an amazing person have a great life I love you ❤️😘...
If it wasn’t for u, I would be feeling sorry for myself over the shit that is going on in my life but u give me the biggest confidence boost ever. I love u and ur accent lmao💕
Even given that you seem to be more planted in the world of athletics, as opposed to the performing arts, have you given any thought to taking a crack at your school's drama dept/program? (Assuming they have one?) You're comfortable speaking to folks, you get being "on" when doing a scene (skits), your voice itself is rich and has a mature resonance, you're obviously comfortable existing in your body (thank you athletics!), and you have a very natural charisma which is sort of a born-with-it quality. 'Course, there's only 24 hours in a day. . . . but just a thought. . .
Your so nice and confident. If anyone says anything rude to you,, (which they prob will because people are so rude) ignore them as much as you can, you already do and it’s actually really good that you ignore them and don’t let them get to you. Ly and stay strong girl x
@@amberrose5919 that means you have pain in limbs that are not there. In her case that would mean pain in maybe her arms. I heard some case where someone had no leg, but his leg was itching or something.
This is a perfectly reasonable question asked out of curiosity and not disrespecting the person ❤️ I admit I also have wondered this, though it doesn’t happen to everyone.
Barry Selfon . I was reading some of the comments. the best way to explain phantom pain is the brain still thinks you have the limbs. so if there is nerve damage there. it can cause stabbing pains or very bad tingling. stuff like that. but I have heard that the more active u are it can help ease it up. but it's different for everyone. hope this helps. please don't worry about offending an amputee. if u don't know just ask. more than likely they will not mind u asking. wishing everyone a good day.. God Bless!
Love your videos! Seriously, the people who comment hate just has a problem within themselves, it's got nothing to do with you. It's really a reflection of their mindset.
I praise your strength and how you have approached it with humor. Yeah, the greeting situation would be me. What made me not view people with disabilities as being helpless was a show a long time ago that showed how people with all kinds of disabilities get around in life in the most amazing ways. They got offended when people insisted on helping them instead of just asking them if they needed or wanted help. Hope to see more. .
You are a beautiful, positive and amazing young lady. You have a lot of inner strength to bring these personal challenges to public light. A few years ago I learned of a saying I think of often, "If you cannot Command, you must Follow".. You are definitely are in Command and a natural leader. My honor, to have come across your video and see you strength and beauty.
Ur so cool aw I love ur top I need it!👍 Question:if u get married could u get like a bracelet or necklace because you don’t have hands unless you got a prosthetic? P.s hope this doesn’t offend you.
You are an inspiration you really are. I love how you even take the mickey out of yourself. You are a beautiful young lady who shines inside and out. You will do well in life.
hugs Issy ... I'm a left leg AKA and understand some of the points you mentioned. I just smile and laugh about it when someone says something silly or innocently insensitive about my condition. Sometimes I am a little evil if a kid's excessively nasty or just plain cruel trying to push me over from behind or trip me up WITH PARENTS LAUGHING at the very cute scene unfolding ... I'll get friendly and eventually tell them to NEVER go swimming EVER...because a huge shark came along and bit my leg off when I was swimming in just 4ft of water. Then I'd feel bad later for scarring him for life.... thanks for sharing !!
I love your accent. As I watch your video, I'm trying to figure out, is your personality is what makes you beautiful or is your beauty out shadowing your personality. Your unique in every since of the word. And your complete, in ways beyond simple comprehension. Strength is your sword which you wield with the understanding of perseverance. God has bless you with the tears of angels.
Hi Isabelle, I’m so sorry that kids sometimes do that to you as I can only imagine how awful that makes you feel. You’re so beautiful and I love your videos you’re helping get through my disability.
I think their staring more so because of how gorgeous you are! Most people probably notice your natural beauty before noticing anything noticeably different ab you.. and if their lucky enough to get to talk to you and also realize your inner beauty, than that’s so fortunate for them ☺️... otherwise it’s only their total loss. Your an amazing and beautiful person, inside and out 💜
Hey izz 🙃 Have have a question! Do you think you benefit from a service dog or is that not for you? Would you look into it? I’m not saying you should buy my bf [ye we gay😂] has a service doggo for mobility and he can balance on George, have phones brought to him, keys or anything even forks picked up, doors opened and closed, lights switched on and of, draws and stuff opened! It’s amazing! Things my bf really struggles with even having wheelchairs pulled and things are just so much easier! Oli (bf) is so much freer and independent. Opinions?
If I had an arm amputated I'd get a tattoo on the end that looked like the cross section of my arm with the bones in the middle and then muscles and then the skin on the outer part. They would be using a lot of red ink. Then i would mess with people by wearing a white shirt with a torn off sleep and dye the torn part red and just walk around as though it was perfectly normal to go around with my arm torn off dripping blood. Or I'd tattoo a smiley face on the end. Or maybe I'd get one of those hypnotic patterns that if you stare at it you go into a trance. Of course I don't need to go through the trouble of getting something cut off that I'd rather keep. I am pretty good at messing with people already. It's probably why nobody comes to my birthday parties.

people should raise their children knowing that some people look different and introduce them to photos of amputees so that when they first see someone who is an amputee irl they don’t act all weird? like they just know that some people are like that !!
Totally agree with you
Super late replying to this comment, but this is totally true.
Exactly
i love that you had your lil bro help with the skits. So cute!
You should seriously think about a career in presenting when you leave school....youd be great as a children's tv presenter to start with. You sound and look like great presenter already!
Sorry to say but cbeebies once got this girl who had half an arm and children freaked out. I loved her she was great.

I remember her from when I’d watch Justin time
Finding humour in this is the only way to deal sometimes.
I can’t use one of my hands so if someone says something to me like “do you need a hand” my instant reply is usually some joke “literally or figuratively ?” But you have to be so careful with who you can joke with otherwise people apologise and act like they just offended your honour or some shit !
The “you’re an inspiration or so brave” comments are so complicated because you know that it comes from a good place but it often just feels Odd in the situation but maybe I’m just confused and carrying a cup of water is inspirational
If so, if anyone did manage to carry their OWN cup of water today, I am so proud of you! You’re my inspiration!!
These kids acting like you're some alien 😁 but nooo you're just a gorgeous bean
The most awkward situation i've been dealing with recently was in shoes store asking for some help and the saleswoman just goes like 'I broke my wrist earlier this year it wasn't so hard doing thing one handed with the cast...' i'm amputated just below my right elbow and it makes me really mad to be compared to an broken arm lol. So i gave her my prosthetic arm and asked if it looks like a cast then if she think my arm was broken ? It was super awkward moment :D
Btw it was an super good and i've reconized myself in lot of case :p
(edit)
I aggreed that the way i write it might be confusing. She didn't said this in a way to make me comfortable it was more like 'you should be able to do this by yourself because i was able to do this with my cast' she was clearly pissed off. So my reaction was maybe asshole for you but honestly i would have never did something like this to someone trying to understand or being cool with me :p
Lol how stupid people are. Comparing a broken wrist to an amputated limb? Wow. I think you handled it well.
Looking at her face when she gave me back my arm i guess she won't compare those anymore haha
She didn't say it in a way to makes me comfortablei've edited my post it was confusing ^^
Sorry, only stared because you looked amazing together! Loved it!
Of course the people who stare a lot to other persons they are evil and they are mentally ill, they are the weird persons.
@@miriamcarrasco3273 I am desperately trying to decipher the meaning of your comment

I just was answering Connie from the comment of above.

Reply: "Do you miss your social skills?" (but only to an adult, of course) Thanks for posting these videos.
I genuinely stare at everybody. Not on purpose, it's a really bad habit of mine.
Raven Me too...
I swear I look like a creep, but I can’t help it.
I love this! Oh my god you’re so pretty😱❤️!!!

I had meningitis when I was a kid, no implications now and all my limbs intact, never realised just how serious it could have been! so much respect ❤️
The most awkward question to get asked when you have divorced parents is, "Why did your parents get divorced?" First of all, it's not your business, it's not even really my business. Second of all, why would you want to know? It's just such an awkward and impolite question, yet you'd be surprised how often people ask me
I hate when people say "oh I'm sorry." Like it's a tragedy. I don't even know how to respond.
Oh, and that "two birthdays/Christmases" goes on my nerves as well, and of course that WHYYYYYY? question.
Huh, personally I don't find that awkward/impolite but more of a "why do you want to know?" sorta deal.
Hmm I have the same case but a bit different I get stared at cause my ear is ripped people say what happens to ur ear and I feel uncomfortable about it
Kennedy Wilcox please ask me that like I don’t even know myself lmao
Isabelle, you gave a great presentation, it's good that you brought it forth in a lighthearted fashion...
I have a friend who lost half of his right hand (years before I met him). When we first met, he just stuck it out there to shake hands. When I hesitated awkwardly, he smiled and said, "go ahead, it's okay!" So I grabbed what was left of his hand and we shook, and I felt more comfortable around him after that. We need more people like you and him, helping folks to be less awkward meeting those of us who have had "structural alterations". Thank you!
This vid made me think of Molly Burke
1Rixy1 ahh yesss
Yes, that was the first thing I thought of too.
I'd love a collaboration between them!
1Rixy1 yes
Can you imagine them setting up a comedic first meeting where they both go in for a handshake?
the "do you miss them?" is something you ask when you're close enough to have a deep, open conversation like that.
Im 14 but omg you are so cute😍😍 i also love your voice and your accent

That statement is something alot of people need to learn . I hope you keep that great attitude and never change.
I send you a hug from Mexico, I wish you the best
Human soul shows its beautifulness with people like you, and in some way you teaches me not to whine about my stupid problems.
Your such an inspiration Izzy! Stay strong beautiful ❤
First time watching. I’d have to say your a hell of a woman. Smart and not playing a victim like half the planet right now. Keep it up. Looking forward to the next video.
The clips were awkward but also made me giggle because your brother is funny ^_^
This is exactly why I’ve been teaching my daughter since very little to never stare at or make comments on people who look “different “.
Your highlight is poppin!!
I’m ex-British Army, did a long time actually, saw lots of things good and bad, saw lots of bravery, but by god you’re one courageous young woman. Much admiration. Wishing you a good New Year.X
pahaha “do you miss them”
I'd be like "no, not at all. They just got in the way anyway."
I still don't even understand why someone would ask that (unless you're really close of course)
The staring thing always makes me nervous because I have a tendency to drift out of my surroundings and unconsciously stare at something, and I'm always so scared that I might be staring at someone and that I'll be perceived as rude.
When greeting people you should just initiate it and say "Stump bump" (instead of fist bump) ;)
I made this same comment in another video. I hope Izzy addresses it at some point because it makes the most sense!
OMG I have cleft lip and you have covered every SINGLE situation that I e encountered! My exact feelings too! Loved the skits!
You're so cutee I don't think is bad to be different ❤ and I am sorry for those that think that I love you so much we support you cutie 💕💕
Hi Izzy. Do you have phantom pain?
What does that mean? Don't mean to offend anyone or anything, i literally don't know
@@amberrose5919 that means you have pain in limbs that are not there. In her case that would mean pain in maybe her arms. I heard some case where someone had no leg, but his leg was itching or something.
@@drteddy2609 oh ok Thankyou!
God Bless!
The saying goes:"Everyone has a cross to bear..." If your cross is heavier-It just so because you are stronger than we are. Love and respect kiddo!
I really like your eyebrows. I wish mine where that full lol
Love your videos! Seriously, the people who comment hate just has a problem within themselves, it's got nothing to do with you. It's really a reflection of their mindset.
lol the kid is a great actor he do it very natural
I think you handle situations very well whether it be kids or adults and you definently seem like a nice person inside and out girl!
If I did ever stare at you it would be because I’d be admiring how pretty you are! You are stunning it’s unfair ahha x
Hope to see more. .
Low key got second hand embarrassment watching this
You are a beautiful, positive and amazing young lady. You have a lot of inner strength to bring these personal challenges to public light. A few years ago I learned of a saying I think of often, "If you cannot Command, you must Follow".. You are definitely are in Command and a natural leader. My honor, to have come across your video and see you strength and beauty.
Perhaps they stare because you are so beautiful. With a great attitude also.
You are such a strong young woman, I wish you luck in all you do. Brilliant video so light hearted yet very inspirational
Well, these days, no one does handshakes anymore, so at least that must be slightly less awkward now! :)
I liked it very much - the skits with your brothers was very enjoyable
Ur so cool aw I love ur top I need it!👍
Question:if u get married could u get like a bracelet or necklace because you don’t have hands unless you got a prosthetic?
P.s hope this doesn’t offend you.
You are an inspiration you really are. I love how you even take the mickey out of yourself. You are a beautiful young lady who shines inside and out. You will do well in life.

Some people don't like vids about amputees and disliking this video doesn't make you a bad person or a sociopath

You're very pretty
Opinions?
The boys are so great in this video! A+ acting skills. All of you are delightful to watch. You should have your own tv show!
