I haven't seen ESPN report a real story in 17 years
When ESPN realized that people would rather watch the debate-based format of First Take rather than the mellowed out original Cold Pizza, that's when they started promoting gossip, drama, and on-air altercations. Now it's all about disseminating falsehoods and starting arguments for no apparent reason.
A “real story” like what
Americans like all their entertainment and lives to be like the Jerry Springer show so we get what we asked for based on ratings...
What would you like them to report on? Genuine question. Because I feel like you people just like to complain. They are reporting on one of the biggest organizations getting a new coach… how is that not a real story?
I’d like to see you get a real life because you’re an average troll at best for now 😅
So Lebron can make a coach fail or not... LeBron allowed all the other Laker coaches to fail according to this guy 😂
rite, all this about unity and LeBron lets a black coach take the fall for the teams mediocre playing and LeBrons mediocre defense
Apparently, right? That comment suggests that all the other coaches failed because LeBron made them fail
That’s your low iq interpretation. He’s referring to their friendship.
6/10 of his coaches have made conference finals. 5/10 NBA finals. Spo, Blatt, Lue, Vogel, Ham & Brown all peaked with LeBron. LeBron’s guys usually succeed with him.
@@jjballers81thank you ‼️‼️
“Annexation of Puerto Rico,” classic UD!
What that means
@@josereyes5229it’s a Little Giants reference 🤣.
@@josereyes5229 Kids movie from the 90's called the Little Giants. They had a secret play they ran to beat Coach O'Shea's Cowboys called the Annexation of Puerto Rico.
Classic camp movie
That was corny tbh
Please stop. Lebron does not have the ability to make him succeed or fail
Of course, he has. He is the second greatest basketball player of all time. He will pull strings with Buss to acquire talent and show out on the court and make sure everyone buys in.
How so? Lebron had a huge part in getting JJ hired, didn’t he?
Isn't that what they have been trying to do in the last few years and they have failed miserably 😅@bankofwerner4206
@@bankofwerner4206 he might be top 8 at best
SMH soon as the Lakers get bounced out the playoffs they gone start blaming JJ REDDICK.
I doubt they even make the playoffs next year. What a dumpster fire.
redick* sorry but I'm that guy given he was my favorite player for years.
So true.
Off course they are, thats how the league works
Play In Tournament at best. The rest of the West will take turns sticking forks in Lebron's a**
Annexation of Puerto Rico was a legendary comparison
When I heard that I instantly knew where it came from. It's one of my go-to lines along with we need a secret plan to fight inflation from the West Wing
Hahahahahha I laughed out loud. 🔥🔥🔥
@@izzyslizzy11 not many people might get that reference
I have no idea what he said, can one of you guys explain it to me in a simple way?
@@AngeloManzi There was a movie in the 90s, Little Giants, about a Peewee football team. One of their plays was called the annexation of Puerto Rico
ESPN will protect their own, no matter what. 😅
It's not ESPN. It's Brian
they're trying their very best to credit JJ. clear to see they are speaking against their true feelings
That didn't protect them back to back sweeps
@@ghoslah Yep, 👍🏼
Exactly. I'm surprised JJ hasn't hired Doris Burke to be his top assistant coach. Maybe get Ronald McDonald for another assistant. Sounds about par for the course for the post Jerry Buss era in Lost Angeles.
So does that mean LeBron let the last couple of coaches fail?
Yes, they were literally fired because Lebron lost faith in them as a coach. That's what they mean when they say the coach "lost the locker room"
@@BaithNayou have to have a locker room to lose
@@BaithNaHe had a reason to lose faith in them. Only good coach he’s ever had is Spo in Miami. Everything else has been him leading his team in spite of having bad or decent coaches. People act like he’s had a coach like Pop or Phil. He hasn’t.
It is crazy though, when JJ was an active player, none of these analysts said he was a great basketball mind or had a high basketball IQ...just nuts!!!
Dumb commentm u dersized unathletic 15 year career
They did say he had high basketball IQ on the clippers and 76ers
How tf would they know anyways?
No body was asking but Coach K constantly bragged about JJ's basketball IQ and work ethic. Also, he never really showed the world the depth of his knowledge until he started doing podcasts late into his career.
Do some research, kid.
Nice way to expose yourself as a casual
Lebron is 39, and he will probably retire next year. What will reddick have after that? An injury prone Anthony Davis, no depth, and no draft capital to make the roster better. There's a reason why many turned down this head coaching position. Nothing to build on and if the team falters, you'll get the blame.
That's why they should trade LBJ now
Brad Stevens built a good team for the Celtics around the Jays while the Lakers are busy finding a coach (in the form of JJ) and building around a 39 year old. Nice
@@Gurenn83 sad, but so true.
Idiot retards La does have draft capital when he leaves 🤣🤣
This has Steve Nash written all over It. This team does not have the talent to compete.
Just what I was thinking, remember when Stephen A was “outraged” and called it “white priveledge” when Steve Nash was hired for Brooklyn. Lakers have had a history of bad coaches in recent years. It sounds extremely biased from ESPN and Stephen A because he was an Analyst and now doing his podcast with Lebron.
This isn't about competing, its about creating a culture and establishing a coach
@@BaithNa the lakers have consistently proven they don’t care about establishing culture. They won a chip, fired the coach a year later. Went to the WCF, fired the coach a year later. Walton, Byron scott, D’antoni… none of these guys lasted more than 3 seasons. If jj doesn’t come in and lead them to a 50+ win season, he’s on the hot seat. If the second year doesn’t result in a finals appearance he’s gone. The lakers think they’re above the rest of the league, and don’t have time to rebuild. That’s why they can’t breakthrough unless it’s a Mickey Mouse playoffs.
U think the team gon look the same going into next szn let’s be real they gon get some players out of there just got to trust the process can’t expect a championship under one szn from his 1st time being HC but that second year I believe that roster gon be way better
No coach is going to make lebron play defense and stop padding his stats
What does that even mean? LeBron alone isn't going to turn this team around. They're not contending without major roster changes.
Lebron my favorite player but u are rite 100 percent facts!!!
So LeBron really isn't any different from any other player then
@@ZenigundamNo he isn’t
1 Roster Change and the same performance from James and Davis as last year and they are potentially contending for a NBA Title. So no, NOT major roster changes. More like keeping the same players together but ONE and getting use to each other.
They have THREE first rounders they can trade
Lakers roster will be STACKED next season
Bron has let lots of coaches fail 😂
Who?
KD has let 6 coaches fail in the last 6 seasons
😂😂😂😂
No the organization
He's also won the first title for every head coach he won with
cause those failed the team. LBJ won a ring for each org he went to and for those coaches that won with him.
Stop being a sore loser.
Seen this scene before..smh
Lebron is really the coach
He's a cry baby
Owner
@carter7944 stfu not a owner 😒 don't have enough money to own the Lakers. Stop riding that man that hard it make know sense
Look at the headline😂😂😂😂 BUT he had no input on the decision lol😂
And you believe that? Lebron literally, carried out an interview with the “Mind the game podcast” 😂
@@TA-ht4jo no way i believed it 😂
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
LeBron, no input? CAP 🧢
Of course he had input. But dont ignore that the lakers lost their first choice by low balling. Blaming bron just easy for yall
Im now convinced the Lakers dont care about winning and instead care about generating sports media coverage and being entertaining.
No way this is real JJ Reddick as Lakers Head coach right after Lebron joins his podcast the NBA is a joke 😭🤣
Lebron didn't join JJ's podcast, they created a new podcast together and it was a long time coming because you don't just get Lebron to do something like that on a whim.
🤡
just wait. once JJ is getting the best out of Rui and AR y'all will all be saying how great of a hire it was.
Lebron in year 21 lets the owner hire a coach with no experience to close out his career lol. Truly embarrasing. I doubt JJ makes it 3 years
This is so goofy
How is Lebron not gonna let him fail ?
😂
Also how is Lebron not involved with the decision to hire 😂😂
2 years max before lakers are looking for a new head coach
This is some shxt straight outa Hollywood 😂
Man…. UD is a asset… very smart brother who is not looking for a hot take
JJ, the new scapegoat!
How? Lebron cant even prevent himself from failing 😂😂
Lebron won’t let him fail? You mean, Lebron will scapegoat JJ *when* they fail.

Very. Hope they keep him
If I am on this team, I am asking for a trade bc this is ridiculous
So you’re saying he could have saved all of those other coaches from failing? 😂
As a die hard laker fan since the 80s... we are tired of LJ and his circus out here.

Why couldn't it be ESPN and not TNT who lost rights to the NBA 🗑🗑🗑
Lebron has let LA Lakers fail.
How if he got them a ring
Done better than how Kobe left it.
In order to win a championship, LeBron needs a roster that includes Jokic, Luka, Giannis, Embiid, and Anthony Edwards, and he'll have any one traded who tries to overtake him as the #1 option.
Ye he's the problem.....👀 idiot
One title and a WCF appearance in the last 4 years
Lakers are still the Clippers DADDY when it comes to end results
Redick thinks Ben Simmons good
I told yall, Bron running the show. He's the coach, GM and player. Bad move for Lakers. They have given up so much for Lebron, future draft picks, players, coaches its crazy. They should let Bron go. He has destroyed this franchise.
This is a group of ESPN analysts that suck up to Lebron because they want to keep access to him. “A great hire”???? You mean a guy who hasn’t even coached a community rec league team is a great hire? You fellas have no spine
Bruh it’s football time now why are we on basketball
It's either LeBron/Lakers or Can Dak win a SuperBowl and/or sign a new deal. Those are your ESPN choices.
@@Shagrath71 LALSPN likes to talk about losers.
White Privilege. Sam Cassell didn't even get a call or Monty Williams.
Cap
Have you ever heard Sam Cassell during an interview? He played for my Nets as a kid, and he's not the sharpest tool in the box. Monty Williams has failed everywhere he's gone. He was handed a superteam in Phoenix and failed miserably. JJ Redick is a real American who has always had a lot of support from the public. The Lakers made a great hire.
It's clearly Lebron Privilege. JJ wouldn't be in consideration otherwise. Unless you mean Lebron is now white.
@@Zenigundam Wow, Racism lives on.
It's black privilege. White people in the Lakers organization are doing exactly what that 39 year old black player wants.
A podcaster just wouldn’t have been on my list of potential candidates but that’s just me.

Props for the "Little Giants" reference
It was a great move in my opinion

Why was it a great move???
@@mellzworld5433How was it NOT a GOAT move???
if great means "terrible", then you're right = this will be a colossal failure, everyone already knows is going to happen = this is the news that will write itself
Its only a great move if you want to see the disaster it will become. This is all Lebron's doing, and he will get Bronny drafted #17 overall. The Lakers franchise is a joke.
@@Nostalgia9478 Neve coached on any level besides his kids team & your asking me if this is a GOAT move...Sad 🌎
What is kind of crazy to me is that the coach has the emphasis on making this seem good when the GM has made some historically bad changes to a championship team
4 years is the longest amount of time he spent with a head coach
If that’s the case why let the other coaches fail? If it’s because he’s tight with JJ it just calls into LJ professionalism, or possibly a lack of.
JJ bout to go one on one with these young guys to toughen them up. He used to be a baller and will be an amazing coach
5:26 - UD forgot they were on live TV. lmfao 🤣
Lakers’ celing is a play in spot

I'm just leaving this comment here so that I can laugh in May next year😂
UD needs to be signed to a long contract to talk basketball on ESPN. He's great and he pairs well with Perk
It’s not the coach it’s the players that wins a basketball game.
Annexation of Puerto Rico was insane lol
He will just blame JJ when he fails
UD is a natural #heatculture
Problem is Lebron has a date scheduled with Father Time soon
And yet he let other coaches fail I wonder why 🤔
UD destined to broadcast.
Got me at "annexation of Puerto Rico"
Big fan of JJ, Monte would have been a better choice, at least experienced.
Udonis Haslem, if you thought referencing Little Giants would make me like you, you were… absolutely correct!
Like he didn’t let, Walton, Vogel and Ham fail?
As a Heat fan, I love UD, but his take was completely different a few weeks ago about Reddick
Windy's stat about the Lakers being in the top 6 only once in the last 12 years lacks the context of Kobe Bryant tearing his Achilles and the team actively tanking to keep all the picks that they had traded to the Suns and 76ers. Then of course the run to the Western conference finals with the Lakers being a play in team because they know if LeBron is on the team they don't really care about the regular season standing as much.
this is going to blow up in the worst way and then he will get the blame and not LeGM.
The interaction with the audience feels so personal.
AD was part of the hiring process for the coach he was in support for JJ
"Hybrid" sounds better than "inexperienced."
idk how to feel about this bro the last time this happened with the kyrie-kd-harden nets with steve nash, it was a disaster
LeBron won't let jj coach more like it
I’m very excited about having COACH Redick on the Lakers staff! I’m hopeful for his success especially once he surrounds himself with a great supporting cast.
Welcome to the #LakeShow🏀
"I don't care if he draws up the annexation of puerto rico they don't have a roster" hahaha. Haslem has some skill would love to see this guy more.
LeBron is the coach. LeBron draws the plays. JJ gives input. LeBron needs input. The only input coaches he’s ever had was David Blatt, Jason Kidd, Spolestra.
Won a chip all the years he had input coaches.
Is it crazy to anybody else to have a lot of these sports reporters talks so greasy about AD so much for the past two seasons and now they’re talking about how obviously great he was? Embarrassing
He hasn’t even been introduced to the media as HD and he’s already on the hot seat!
Udonis is better spoken as a caster than I thought he’d be.
Man what he can't even make himself succeed how he gon keep JJ from failing 😂
What's the point of watching this video when everyone mostly agrees? No one offers a legit counter opinion. Really enjoyed watching "First Things First" cause they actually seemed to have a way more objective opinion on the topic
I wouldn't be surprised if JJ got suited up to play for the Lakers at this point. Wouldn't be surprised if JJ actually practiced with the team as well to show the young fellas how its done.
These two have lived through the hate in different parts of their careers. They lived through it.
Each analyst has their strengths but I do prefer UD over Perk.
So if the Lakers don’t have a championship roster then why did Darvin Ham get fired???🤔
this is INSANE....nobody in lakerland thinks this will work
I cant believe that 1 player can hold a team hostage what a circus! They are not winning anything🤣
The Lakers have JJ, but more importantly obviously LeBron & AD. It’s more about their roster, which is very good (They played Denver well, anyone with eyes could see this).
They improve their roster even slightly they will be Top 5 in the West easily, just get some notable players to relieve pressure off Bron & AD when they are on the bench, or out of games
Wait…is the podcast over?
So if it's difficult to play with LeBron, him having a puppet coach is gonna cause an implosion. Or JJ is gonna have to oppose LeBron here & there and let's see how that work out.
UD is good has an analyst. He probably can coach eventually has well.
This will age like fine wineeeeee
Anyone not named Darvin Ham will be an improvement.
Lakers do have a pretty darn good roster they just need another rebounder because thats what screwed them against the nuggets. Besides that their team is just as good as most other west teams.
UD does Miami Have A Championship Roster ?
How is it a "best decision for the Lakers", JJ wouldn't have gotten this job if it wasn't for LBJ ... so there's no merit in this hire. The man is NO track-record, coaching the biggest team in the world. ---> Right now as it stands, the probability of catastrophic failure is sky high.
ESPN contradicts itself in the same sentence 😂. The Lakers have finished higher than the 6 seed in ___ years. Maybe that’s why they fire coaches geniuses. Then they say “the roster is trash” although most people said they CAN beat anyone other than Denver. Which one is it? It seems they agree with every criticism under all circumstances.
