- The lallantop team has reached Tamil Nadu for the coverage of Lok Sabha election 2024. Passing through many cities of Tamil Nadu, our team reached Ramnathpuram. Students of AIIMS Madurai are studying in the temporary campus of a government medical college of Ramnathpuram. These students demonstrated outside the college with their demands. The students allege that the administration had promised them that Madurai AIIMS would be constructed very soon but even after 5 years of laying the foundation stone, the construction work of the college has not been completed. Students say that they are not getting even basic facilities in the government college of Ramanathapuram.

I m aware of these things that will happen one day That's why I dropped my idea to take admission in 2023 in AIIMS Madurai and go for further rounds for a better college. 😢
These fellows already in other state for 2 years and still haven't learnt their language; and now they are complaining about patient interaction; without knowing language how you will become a Doctor, how u guys will treat in internship ; I'm a tamil guy doing gen med Pg in North learnt Hindi in 3 months time ; these people's forming Hindi gangs and I no interaction with local students and people ; how you guys will learn tamil
You're partially right. There are tons of sources to learn Hindi properly. But it is not the same for Tamil. Moreover the Hindi language is not highly diglossic like Tamil. If you have one book that is enough to teach you required basic Hindi.
Indian government has done it's part in popularising the Hindi but Tamil nadu government (or any other state government) is not doing so to popularise their respective languages. If at all anything done they're done for the namesake.
Good resources to learn (standard) Tamil are limited.
Tamilnadu government should do the needful to teach "Tamil as a Foreign language", a world class Oxford like material with international phonetic alphabet, which should have both the standard spoken , written Tamil sentences, words along with Hindi or other state languages explanation.
State Govt. handed over the land to the GOI in February 2020. In March 2021, the funding agency (JICA), extended assistance. The loan agreement was signed in February 2022. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) informed Tamilnadu Health Minister in Feb 2023 that the construction of AIIMS Madurai would begin by the end of 2024 and be completed by 2028.
AIIMS Deoghar was announced in 2017 and now building is functional.

Well done lallantop….kudos to you for bringing out sufferings of future Doctors of our country. Me myself being a Doctor can totally understand these hardships , what it takes to be a Doctor and above all this if you have to go through all this, it is very disheartening. Clearing a National level exam first and then if you have to face these things, it not only breaks confidence of future Doctors but also demoralises those who are preparing just to get into MBBS first knowing the fact that it’s a tedious, painful journey long ahead with MBBS, Residency and further in professional life too. Atleast they should get proper facilities for academics though all facilities are important for holistic development. Already medicine is so hectic and demanding, UG days are the only days atleast all medicos can think of little bit of your enjoyment from their tight schedule. After this, from Residency they have no time to even address their basic needs even in well established colleges because of patient load and toxicity in the profession. They won’t get this time again…..Their pain should be addressed with utmost consideration otherwise no one has the right to blame Doctors for their mistakes …….There is lot to say , can’t express everything in comment section.

धन्यवाद ललनटोप मैं इन बच्चों की परेशानी समझ रही हूं क्योंकि मेरा बच्चा केरला में मैडिकल की पढ़ाई कर रहा है भाषा की बहुत परेशानी है नोर्थ के बहुत कम बच्चे हैं हमारे कोई त्यौहार ये लोग नहीं मनाते हैं और अपने त्यौहारों में हास्टल में मैस बंद कर के चले जाते हैं आज भी हमारे बच्चों को खाना नहीं है अपने बीच शामिल भी नहीं करते हैं लेकिन पढाई बहुत बढ़िया है सुविधाएं बहुत बढ़िया है डाक्टर्स टीचर्स सभी बहुत अच्छे हैं पढ़ाई को लेकर बहुत शख्त रहते हैं हर सम्भव प्रयास करते हैं किसी बच्चे का साल बर्बाद न हो और लापरवाही करने वाले बच्चे को छोड़ते भी नहीं हैं हमारे यहां होली हुए एक महिना हो गया है वहां कल मना रहे हैं हिंदी भी कोई भाषा है बोलते हैं कोई नहीं बोलता यहां पढ़ना है तो मलयालम सीखना होगा। विश्वास नहीं होता कि ये भारत का ही हिस्सा है .......

Government Medical College Ramanathapuram has required facilities to take care of the students that enrolled for GMC Ramanathapuram. The AIIMS students are extra load on the GMC because Madurai AIIMS is not ready to induct any students and yet Union Government decided to open seats for a college that does not exist .
As far as the students complaining about Holi . Dude you can conduct your cultural festival outside the GMC campus because TN people and government responsible for GMC do not have the culture of HOLI . Holi also comes with the issue of boys disturbing the modesty of women both from the Hindu community and also harrasment of boys and girls who are not Hindus who do not celebrate Holi or other Hindu festival .
Note - College is for education . The only cultural festival that can be conducted in TN are as below
1. New Year
2. Pongal
3. Annual day
4. Sports day
Pongal is a Harvest festival that is celebrated by all religion in TN
The rest of the religious functions are kept out of any academic campus in TN
The other issues obviously need to be addressed by the administration. But, a student said there is language barrier and nothing is done about it. He should have thought about it before taking admission since that was already an expected issue and it needs to be tackled by the students by proactively learning Tamil from their local batchmates. No college in India provides translators since it is the students themselves who have to learn patient interaction.

Main problem for them is No fan,No holi, No North Indian food,no North culture, no North language,no North Indian temples,and main problem is Hindi is a national language for them but you people are not taking Hindi , you all Anti hindian or Indian.

Naye college ke khulne par rok lagaana chahiye. Aur college h unhi ko facilities badhani chahiye jisse acche quality Doctor padh kar nikle.
