Before we moved into our new place I had so many things I thought I wanted to do. After living here for six months I am so glad we didn’t do any of them because they would have never worked out. Take your time and live there for a while then you will know what you really want. Your needs and desires change drastically. So happy for your family❤

Thank you for answering a lot of the questions that were going around in my mind. My dad built me & my new husband our first place, so you would think I had everything sussed from the get-go, but we were only 22, no children & hadn’t A CLUE what we needed. You are fortunate you’ve had time to grow a family before you needed to do this & now know exactly what you want & need. Good luck in the future with your plans.
When we built our house 25yrs.ago. We took our shoes off at the door. And our kids also. Now when our kids come and grandkids, they all take their shoes off at door and just wear their socks. So you don’t have to mop all the time. But let me tell you, it’s awful when your kids move out. It’s so lonely. I can’t work anymore I fell and messed up my back. It’s so lonely when my husband’s at work. Wish you lived closer, so we could be friends and I could have someone to talk to and share recipes with. Congratulations on your new home. It’s Beautiful!!! Things takes time, but what y’all can do yourself, will save y’all money, even if it takes a little longer. God Bless you all. And Happy Easter 🐣.

If your home is like ours; one end of the home is higher than the other. When we had our contractor here to build out our under penning we had him put doors on that end. We are able to house our lawn mower, tiller, and a lot of garden supplies with taking all the room of our shed
That’s awesome! Ours is a little higher on one end but not enough for storage.
When hurricane Agnes came in 1972 my mom and I lived in a 10x55 without skirting, but with hurricane tie downs. We made it through fine.

You should look into a pole barn styled metal roof structure for a garage. They are way cheaper than I wood built one.
I grew up living in mobile homes. Our first was 8X45. Then 12X60 (with 7 of us and 1 bath) Then to our double wide. I can tell you a few things to save you dollars down the road. I am in TX. As soon as you can put on metal roof. Mark a yard area and plant some grass

Jessica have the plumbers put a water facet on the front side and back side of your house it will come in handy with having gardens and animals.
Also have the elections to install plug in outlest on your front porch and side up close to your yard lights so you have a couple of places to hang Christmas lights and plug them in..Maybe one lower one too in case you want to put out decorations..just suggestions
Thanks! Nathan is planning on doing that after we move in. We will need a few faucets.
We used to store things under our house and just unscrew a portion of the skirting and then put it back. I dunno if that would work for y'all, but just a thought.
Look into purchasing a trailer (the half length semi truck ones) from ABF. They sell them around here for a few hundred bucks delivered. That would take care of your storage needs and bonus they’re a few feet off the ground so no concerns for water or rodents 😊. Thanks for sharing your future plans. So excited for your family! I lived in Florida for almost 30 years (central+big bend) & I've never met anyone with a storm shelter
Our first home was a manufactured home and must tell you to please don’t overestimate how safe everything will be, especially not being on a foundation. It’s a lovely home but with so many, your wear and tear will be a challenge like doors, speaking from experience.
Oh I’m sure. We assume we will have to fix and replace things as needed.

We lived in Satsuma during hurricane Frances and Ivan. We had tornados hit a mile from us. Those hurricane straps on the homes are no joke!
Baby steps. You got this girl. Congratulations. We live in South Georgia and we were told our house had to settle some before we could put we could put our skirting around our house. We’ve had our pole style pool for about 4 years and it’s still in great shape. It’s a lot of work but well worth it

Once you move in you will figure out what you really need first. What do you have near you that you would get your wood for decking? Can't wait to see the progress.
I live in FL too with no storm shelter…the water table’s too high! 😅 Just shutters and a generator.
Hey Jessica, you may know this already but you can use vinyl peel and stick flooring on the walls for shiplap too, it’s actually cheaper to do it that way and you can’t tell. Google pictures and see. There are close out stores and other places that clearance them and if you’re lucky, you can get it for a really inexpensive price! Comes in many colors. Clearance or not, it’s less expensive to use those.😉

Hey sweet friends. I ask y'all to please continue to pray for me. I had my doctor's appointment yesterday I was told that I have a tumor on my left temperal lobe, they didn't tell me the size, they just said that they caught it early enough that they are going to try medication first which is some kind of steroid that starts now (I have the medication) and get me an appointment with a Neurosurgeon ASAP. Suggestion for the the boys room-instead of tearing down the whole wall just put a large double door way in the middle of the wall that way they are still sharing a room but also still feel like that have their own spaces. You also would have the extra wall spaces to place furniture in front of. Also that way as they get older you could just put double doors into frame area if they needed separate spaces etc. this might also be more cost efficient! Best wishes on this journey!

There is a big misconception of a manufactured home being like old drive in trailers..they are made sturdy on a brick slab and anchor to it..the same as a home w/o a basement..I moved from a 2 story 4 br and 3 bathroom, double car garage and full basement..my kids grew up and we sold out..We have lived in a manufactured home for 7 years and my husband and I love it..We plan on staying as long as possible!
There really is a huge misconception.
Jessica, wanted to share with you that we found a house. Praise God! The best part about it is the landlord is a Christian. Our neighbors are Christians. God works in mysterious ways. But this is something we've been waiting on for a long time. Thank you for praying with us. Love you all

I love your new home. I know you said you were going to remove a wall to make a large bedroom for the 4 boys but would the older boys not want privacy from the younger ones in a few years?
Possibly… if so we can put a wall back up.
@@FieldsFullHouse Another idea in case you haven't already considered it. Instead of taking the wall down you could add a door between the rooms. The boys could leave it open for now and treat it like one big room but then gives the option down the road of leaving it closed if your older boys want more privacy eventually. Just a possible idea!
We’ve lived in our manufactured home for 11 years and have just started sheet rocking our rooms one at a time. I found the walls actually really hard to clean because of the texture. I use a scrubby brush in circles and that’s worked well for me. At least in your case you have the option to change them in the future. but I’ll admit durability was really handy when the kiddos were little, that’s why we waited as long as we did.
You mentioned totes for extra stuff, we do that too. We have a garage that we have shelving that hold our off-season items.
Question, are the bedrooms carpeted while the rest is laminate? you made a comment about tearing down a wall will you have a flooring issue because of that? We just renovated our master bathroom and had to remove a partial wall. The roof was no damage at all and luckily for us our flooring went underneath the wall.
Thanks for sharing! I’m really wanting to do the walls but not sure how long it will take us. There is carpet in the bedrooms so we will have to address that with removing that wall. I wanted to put flooring throughout the house but the kids want the carpet 😂
So we will probably leave the carpet and maybe do flooring in the living room and hall way

We blocked ours in, it was around 8k here in middle GA. Our county required it.

I love the cabinets!!!! Instead of knocking a wall down with that cost, why not just put two bigger in one and two younger in the other? That would save money. Just a suggestion. But I am really so happy for your family!!
We did consider it but with making that living room a bedroom it helps with that as well. It shouldn’t cost too much money. Plus the boys like the idea of a bigger room and being all together.
Usually we get plenty of time to vacate if there’s a big storm or hurricane coming. It doesn’t happen that often.

I love your idea of the shiplap in the bathroom I hope you don't mind if I snag it and use it for my bathroom 😉 I just signed papers for my 1st house 😀 I'm almost 44 and have been homeless with my oldest child and our dog a few times so we are so very thankful to God for guiding us to this opportunity ❤️ its a little fixer upper and I love it so when I go do the bathroom I might just have to use your idea! And as of a little shed house maybe just build a garage and build a guest room in the top of it! Technically it's not a house and you could say it's for storage so it doesn't go against zoning I have to add man it feels good to finally find someone willing to take a chance on me and sell to me on a contract no banks 😊 I will be able to leave my kids something if anything happens to me and that's more than I ever thought I would be able to do

Have you looked around to see how much a set of steps cost versus y’all building them yourself?
The steps, they came with the house.
Rats can eat through those plastic crates from lowes, Home Depot, Walmart. I thought my stuff would be fine in them at storage center but when I went to move my stuff out is when I saw they chewed holes into the crates . Lots of stuff was ruined. Put some mice traps with poison in them inside the shed behind things so your children can’t get to them . Hopefully that helps. Lots of computer and camera stuff was ruined they chewed the wires inside them.
I know when my mom and dad got their modular home they already had a well and had the septic tank put in. And after the modular home was set up electric was run to it. I live in Eastern NC and we would get hurricanes and we never evaluated. I know I live an hour from the coast but we can get serious hurricane weather badly especially if it's a higher hurricane level.
I also live in eastern NC (an hour from the coast) and we do get hurricane winds. We lost our home during Floyd. My daughter lives in a home very similar to Jessica’s and so far, so good. Stay safe.

No we don’t need a fire marshal to approve.
What about tornados? Aren’t you concerned about having shelter for an emergency tornado? Sometimes those come so fast you barely have time to get in a basement let alone travel somewhere else to get away from a tornado. I grew up in Eastern CO (60 miles from KS) and with all the tornados and close tornados growing up I’d NEVER live anywhere that had tornados without some type of shelter for those.. in the Midwest I’d have to have a basement.
Tornados aren’t that common here. They do happen but some what minor compared to Midwest.

Correct. It’s what countertops they have on hand. They will be neutral colored but can change from what you see in the model.

I am 66 and cut my own grass😊
I push mow two acres. I am 66 also. I just take my time. I do not have a self propelled mower either, to me they are harder to use. I personally think a push mower cuts better. That and I have OCD and I am very regimented on how my property is mowed. I have been meticulous about where plants and trees are planted. All of that being said mowing is for me a way for me to clear my mind and it helps with my anxiety and depression. I have lost my husband of thirty eight years to a motor vehicle accident, I have had my four sons to pass away in a ten year time period. My youngest passed away November tenth. I am alone now. So I create work to keep my mind busy. Nothing will ever stop my heart from aching or grieving for my family. But work keeps me from thinking.
I am 70, still mow not self propelled lol. I totally agree with you! It keeps me occupied and don’t have time to dwell on things.

You see two minutes out of twenty four hours or longer when she records. Showing how they CHOOSE to discipline or correct their children is THEIR business. From my perspective the children are well behaved. They are loved and have parents who are FULLY involved with every aspect of their lives. It’s sad that more parents are not as involved with their children.
