Looks fantastic, I done exactly the same to my front lawn a couple of months ago which looks like exactly the same edging, makes such a difference to the whole look of the lawn, great video.

Video helped. I bought my edging from Amazon and didn't find out about the stabilising pins until it was too late, would have used them. I found it easier to join lengths and bend tabs before putting edging in place. I did a 6 m length this way and it worked fine. Didn't bother with spirit level, just followed level of lawn. Looks OK, a bit expensive but will probably do my front lawn.Pick a time when ground is soft.

Higher lever lawn might even help drainage
Yes that is one benefit as my new build is bad drainage. I will think of something!
I have tried the plastic edging but it’s not great I would recommend it. I have also used a green plastic edge but it is very ridge and okay for the straight sides curves. I think I will be trying this product in the autumn

Ironically, this is my next job so I am glad to have watched the video. Just not sure if this system will work for my lawn as it is flush with the border with hard clay soil. Love your videos as you don't skip over the important points.

Great job, and your yard is beautiful. I’ve gone back and forth over edging material. Originally wanted Corten, then looked at PT Pine. Landscaper wants to use black plastic and that doesn’t appeal at all. I have some metal edging from former residents and it’s held up well in some places, flaking/rusting in others. I love the product but be warned if you have clay stoney soil you have too do so much preparation in order to get a straight line.
I personally dug around the egde of the entire lawn about a foot deep and replace it with topsoil, "Yes" it was a pain in the neck coz I also had too mark out and level the lawn again lol

I used the same edging but installed before I turfed and levelled the top soil flush with the edging.
That's a good shout and one of the reason I wanted it to help me screed off the edges when levelling 👍
I was thinking of that while watching the video as I want to redo my lawn, how did that work out? Any issues for install or with the lawn maintenance?
@@anonymousanonymous5327 worked out fine, my mower rides along the edge without any problem. Stops the edges from encroaching into the border and makes edging with shears a doddle. Can easily recommend, not cheap but worth it for the result. Can bend it if you have curves in the lawn too.

I will be doing this this autumn , core or everedge . I have the cheap plastic ones from wilko , not bad but I need this to mow over. Just a bit worried about digging into more rocks
You could test the edge by driving skme something into the soil fir example 👍
I installed this same product a month ago for a family member. It is excellent. It can be bent, cut or angled easily and it forms the perfect edge by which to trim lawn edges against. For best results your lawn needs to be free from significant undulations. There are however, two key things to bear in mind. Firstly, ensure that the top of the finished edging does NOT protrude above the lawn, so mow it first to arrive at your true lawns` level. Secondly, the manufacturer suggests that each section is installed individually - well this is only possible around lawns which have an `exposed` side of at least the depth of the edging strip. I say this because good access is needed in order that the locking `tangs` can be bent and locked into place. I found it better and easier to lock an entire length into place before securing it into place, then repeatedly tamping it down along its length to the desired depth.

Yes its fully flexible, it's not a rigid piece until its clipped together so will easily follow a curved profile

I am planning on killing the lawn off and starting again after leveling off. Do you think I should fit the edging first or after the new seed has taken?
I think doing it with no grass could be easier to set your levels but it depends if you are wanting to keep longer grass etc. For short grass I'd say Edging first then use the edge to set a level

Great video - looking to do this on my lawn but do not understand how you get the exact amount? Surely you have to cut some pieces as lawn won't be exact dimension of edging you receive?
Can one mow to the edge with a cylinder mower? What about using verti-cut mowers, scarifiers, aerators?
How do you shape it for wavy edges? Like around pool edges with a stone bed?

Easier to install, it bends and is flexible do you would not need to manually bend it like I had to for the square. Soft curves I think would be easier

I didnt actually trim any of mine as I overran the edge against the paving at the back but it's around 5 or 6mm and I'd say a decent metal hand saw would cut it easy.

Hi there. Very helpful. How did you deal with the hardest area - concrete foundation for your patio coming under the grass edge? I have a similar situation.
In most areas I was lucky because I actually extended that patio and didn't go overboard with the footings as I knew id put grass there
I prefer plastic or wooden edges, as metal one is a traumatic hazard, when accidental fall happens.
I have been looking for years for corden edging in the US. It's near to impossible to find.
How do you join lengths that aren’t a metre long?

Hi Adam cheers mate, all the lengths are the same 1075mm gives a 1m length so you cut any overhang if needed. The thing that changes is the depth 👌

Hi Chris no problems I just had a few spots which weren't levelled I topped them up this year and it's all flush

No the metal is below the grass or low enough so it doesn't get cut. Same way you don't cut the driveway when you mow
Was wondering why you decided to add the edging along the railway sleeper and didn’t just run the turf up to the wood? Doesn’t the gap just collect debris and weeds?
Because my reel mower can get that close to the wood so I left space that I still use the reel. It does collect weeds abit but I put some bark down there to try suppress it John 👍
If the lawn and soil beds were the same height would this have been easy enough to hammer the edging all the way into the ground, effectively hiding it?
You can get different heights of the material so a smaller edge might be better for that purpose and yes I could hammer in a fair way into the ground but that also depends on your soil

They came with the edging
If it burnt the lawn just by lying on it for a short while absorbing heat from the sun, will be interesting to see if it continues to heat up and burn now it's installed.
Yes, we will see, I think the heat has more places to transfer to on on edge. I also saw two other posts in the forum today 1 person same issue installing metal fence and another burnt from reflection off the car!!!

you'll regret this choice when you go through 5 times as much trimmer line on that metal, nothing more annoying then trying to do edges with metal near the grass

The edges sit flush with the turf so there isn't much left exposed to hurt yourself on.
On the flip side, you're just as likely to hurt yourself if you were to bang your knees on a concrete path edging (or any other edging for that matter!)

These are terrible. I worked for a company making these out of house, they got complaints all the time and then sued for it being sharp. people cutting themself, dogs cutting there legs and paws burning, there toes in Australia in the summer.

Metal lawn edging. I’ve seen it all now. Can you imagine the damage it could do to your knee if you fell on it? There’s no flexibility in that and it’s difficult to see. You’re not getting any younger so your falls risk is increasing. Take it up and throw it in a skip.Sorry.
There’s also no flexibility in a concrete path edging… or anything else that is solid…. Do you bubble wrap your entire garden
