    I see a lot of these kinds of kitchens in the lofts advertised on platforms like Hangzhou Plus. Quite a few of them are in the Line 2 Xihu area (like Fengtan, Gucui, Xueyuan road). While they are practical for people who eat out a lot, those who cook heavily need something quite different! I live in an older 4 bed 3 bath (?!?) 178 sq meter apartment that's a comfortable 30 minute metro commute to downtown (including walking), and it's about 8000 CNY/month (although it helps that my house allowance covers most of that). The wife and I are expecting a kid soon, so you could say we planned ahead 😏
    That said, for a much lower tag of 4000, this seems like a great deal!

    Really like this video, as a local Hangzhounese, I can tell you this kind of two level apartment is very common and actually not very luxury. My brother used to rent such an apartment last year which cost like 4500 RMB. In Hangzhou, the rent depends a lot on the location and the distance to the metro station. In some remote area of Hangzhou, you can get an apartment of 130 square meters with the price of 3000RMB, trust me.

    • @geraldwatts5492
      @geraldwatts5492 Před rokem +1

      I think it's not bad for single people or maybe young couples who don't cook a lot. But that kitchen is way too small for me! Also, I broke my ankle some years ago, so if that happened while I was living in a loft, you can imagine the conundrum (also more likely to injure myself in the first place).

      @@dttgoo5815 Most people live in condos they own or rent.
      Try ziroom or anjuke for apartment renting.
      Chinese cities are much denser than most western cities, so very few of us can afford a house. We call house bieshu(villa) here.

    • @jmpompey1

      That would be a shitty quality of life on $560 for a year. People in rural China can do it simply because they grow their own food, if you had to buy your ingredients you'd be looking at $1 per day for food as for accommodation and utilities etc you ain't getting that anywhere in China for under $2-3 per day.

They work some of the time but don't work when it's national holidays or when diplomats are in town. . You have to use the lesser-known VPNs and even then it still may not be reliable. If you need google for work I wouldn't come to the mainland to live but definitely visit.

      Once things clears up with covid and hopefully relations with china are better i would definitely say to go 110% China is a very different country but has alot to offer. You will have a good time as a student especially if you are in a city like Hangzhou or Shanghai. But it all depends on what type of experience you are looking to have. But there were ups and downs with my experience that I plan to share more of on my channel that may give you a good perspective of what life in china is like (shameless plug). But its s all what you make it.

    • @user-xm4zc6ez2g
      @user-xm4zc6ez2g Před 4 lety +1

      Auston R generally for a one bedroom apartment it’s around ¥6000 but those usually aren’t as nice as the one in the video... for a small studio (like 20 sq m or less) it can be around ¥4000 but those are tiny and are usually just a bed and a bathroom lol... for the kind you showed I would estimate at least ¥8000

    I’m planning on returning to China once I graduate, but I’m not so sure about the jobs options. The apartments near my family’s home in China are pretty good (still not so sure about price) all I’m worrying about is how I’ll get the income for my apartment.

      Yea there's a website called lianjia.com and another called 58.com that you can use to find apartments. But I went in person once in China because online can be tricky but it's a great place to start. Uses google chrome so you can translate to your language preference.

      I worked for a few companies when I was there. Because of the current situation I returned to the states. The company I worked for I honestly can't recommend because they were very dishonest it was called Echo education located in the Binjang district of Hangzhou. The other company I worked for was Web international which is no longer in business. I will probably make a video about them both.
