The video I was waiting for! But too late I already got the house in Plymouth township. Basically came to similar conclusions after watching the Novi/Northville/Canton videos. Goldilocks for sure! Spot on review, and the train has made us late to Hockey twice lol. BTW I'm the guy that said hi to you in a parking lot 😆

My train horror story from Plymouth. I have this e-bike with big fat tires on it. And I got caught by the train and waited about 15 minutes before I got inpatient and decided I wanted to ride along the train tracks on the rocks. The train was still going for another 10 minutes as I went along and eventually it ended right as I got to haggerty.

Grew up in Canton (PCEP '05), now a small business owner in downtown Plymouth. Love this video. I love the abundance of history I'm walking on every day coming in, the raw weird history of homes in DTP and Olde Village, and the connections from here to Detroit by the Native Americans thru Henry Ford's operations of getting workers from the suburbs to Dearborn. There's so much to love and I've been working on a better way to summarize why I love being here.
I didn't do great at the high school but I'm sure doing a-ok now, no big deal for me. Thanks, this was interesting and nicely done!

PCEP and U of M alum: PCEP is a high school that effectively has around 6,000 students, which is twice as big as Dakota High School (Michigan's single high school with the biggest student population). Also, you're correct; technically PCEP is three different high schools, but as a student you spend nearly equal time in each building and your "home" school only matters for sports.
PCEP's size is its greatest strength and greatest weakness. When you aggregate Plymouth, Canton, and Salem's stats (which is how students experience school there), PCEP is the 6th largest feeder school for U of M. To be honest, general-ed classes aren't particularly good at PCEP. But due to the sheer size of the campus wide population, you have tons of opportunities for well taught AP or IB classes and good school-hosted extracurriculars. As of 2023/2024, PCEP offers 21 AP classes and 20 IB classes. For comparison, Northville High offers 22 AP courses and 18 IB courses.
It's pretty easy to get lost in the crowd there. But by joining student orgs and taking as many AP and honors courses as I could, I experienced PCEP as kind of a "school within a school". And if your student at PCEP is part of the cohort that takes 2-4 AP classes per year (i.e. they are actually taking advantage of PCEP's strength), they almost always graduate from universities that are as selective or more selective than MSU (or they attend less competitive universities for little to no tuition)
