Sunny day. Golden clean beach. Visibility ♾ How's that color of that ocean?.......And a fighting fish at the end of a rod.... MAN !!!!!! WHAT A DAY THAT MUST BE ???? !!!
For those who said it was fake as pocjetty said it's gills were flaring when landed on beach, also, you try tying a weight to yourself and running around for 5 or more minutes and see how much energy you have to flop around and go crazy afterwards, drag on a reel is effectively a weight being dragged around by a fish.
As you rightly say fish of many species are unbelievably powerful. Non anglers have no idea. Many species lead what look to be sedentary lives but when hooked, display a power and stamina that is often staggering and if they were human athletes with the same strength, would live out their lives totally unrivalled in their prime event.
Bad news for those who insist it's fake. When he's pulling it out of the water, the fish is flaring it's gills. It's alive, and the video is real. They don't know it's the biggest ever from a beach, but it's a big gallo.

He didn't loose the fish like he thought. The fish changed directions (he was way to the right, then came back to the left) and ran back towards him....that made the line go slack so he said, the fish got off, but as he was retrieving the line he caught up with the fish. He fought the fish momentarily, then the fish ran 180 degrees again from left to right.
Definitely a Rooster, you can tell because of the distinct first dorsal fin and light patterning on the body, as well as the elongated pectoral fins. A sea bass has a more single-toned body and less distinctive dorsal/pectoral fins. Awesome catch!
Congrats on the catch. But please how about posting the weight, length, bait and where you were. Come on give us the real dope. Thanks for posting the video. It was a real treat to watch. I hope you enjoyed catching that monster as much as me and the camera man enjoyed watching.
really, because a texas fisherman magazine is the reason I even looked up roosterfish in the firstplace, and for some reason also, it appeared that they were both saltwater and freshwater species.
Yes, ffs.."that's a big rooster"! Do you have to say it so often? And...he only wanted to be dragged along the beach another 70 yds...and he'd have needed to show his passport! Nice fish!
I'm pretty sure that that yellow thing is called a gotcha it is a type of lure that looks like a fish to attract what you are trying to catch they will work for land fishing or sea water dock fishing. :)
Game fish doesn't mean catch and release, it means it is a fish that is in some way protected or regulated under law. That could mean it is catch and release, there is a limit, or you require a licence or stamp to catch or take them. Most "game" fish are edible, as opposed to trash fish which are normally not desired or protected under law because there is no commercial value.
That is one big fish and the swell coming in racked up the difficulty in landing it,you hung in there and WOW was the reward worth the effort you put in it was there to see when it ran up the beach and then you thought it had come off and it had secreamed back down the beach again,I hope you raised a BIG glass at the end of the battle,so well deserved, congratulations,Mike Cornwall,UK.Tight Lines Forever.
That fish is big and the fisherman not so tall so I really think that is the fish he caught. Look at 4:14. The tail is above his waist and there is still almost half a fish on the sand. Fantastic fish and nice fight with a surprise it was still on hahaha Surprise!
dude the spanish guy filming wasnt kidding... i coulnt tell the whole time until you snagged it by the tail.... WOW thats not a rooster... thats a pig!!!! good job chief, keep on fishin...
wow!!! hey brotha you gotta share this on FISH AND FAME's facebook page. Be good to see a nice rooster on there. everybody been posting their trophies there. THIS IS A TROPHY!!
Nice Rooster, don't know about it being the biggest ever caught from shore, just got back from cabo and got a few that were just a little smaller about 100lbs but only have pics no video. Nice fish! They sure are fun to catch!!!
Wait a minute. Hold on. You mean there really IS a fish called a Rooster Fish??? I thought the term roosterfish was merely a synonym 😂😂😂😂😂. Like calling someone Richard Cranium 😂😂😂.
I absolutely love this video, the commentary is the best, that guy is hilarious! Where was this? Where can I find that guide, I want to do this for my 40th birthday!
I don't know why the OP never answered where this video was taken but I went fishing in Cabos San Lucas México not too long ago and my hotel was on a beach identical to this one with the rocks on the right and all. Pretty sure this is Cabo
I had to watch to see what a rooster fish looked like LOL That is a good size fish you caught and bet that was a lot of fun fighting it all the way to shore
wow...great job. I remember catching a little 2 1//2lb and it was fun. can't imagine catching a rooster that looks a little over 4 1/2ft to 5ft in length and possibly weigh 160lbs plus
Well thats something new to me. I fish quite a bit here and have my B.S in marine biology and never heard of them here. They probably see them down in the lower laguna madre if i were guessing. Sure arent any on the upper coast.

MAN !!!!!! WHAT A DAY THAT MUST BE ???? !!!
I love the mexican's idea of helping is to grab the rod :)
And he didn't even reach for it.. he's like "come-on man HAND me the rod"

Great Job Capt. Kirk! Loved watching the video, great job Thomas, wonderful job filming this catch.

"Thats a nice looking fish. Good Job captain kirk. HOLD YOUR GROUND. HOLD YOUR GROUND BRO." LOOOOOL
One of the best fights I've ever seen, thanks for sharing Holy Crap!!!!!
You can, but they don't taste any better than your common jack, catch and release is the best for this type of fish.
joe blaze don't let the seeds of evil grow in your mental rolodex. That's all he has shadow word's that can't hurt you or infect, unless you give him a place to live. Your better than that and stronger and he's afraid of you. Be blessed and at peace.😎
nice catch well done. 😎
airnuts hxdf
Absolutely
Nice, and I'm glad you released it back to the sea, hoping the fish survived more fisherman or nest
